So I know in passing years, Taker had went on record expecting 30 minute collision course.
Some people even vocalizing that WWE should of went for it.
I will say in comparison to prior and future performances this was the best Takers done solo. However even watching Takers movement and bumping at this point; just don’t think it was going to happen at all.
I think WWE may have gotten away with 10 minute performance but I sadly think Cena/Taker past WM XXX was far to late.

Based on all the stuff Cena had done & said. It made sense it went the way it did. Few had ever disrespected Taker to the level John had in that feud. He mentioned Deadman's wife & everything. Taker had to kill him.

A match that could've filled up a stadium a few years earlier was an unannounced squash.

If this had happened at Wrestlemania XXX, I think it would have been the biggest match of all time whilst Taker’s streak was still intact. The way it ended up, they obviously wanted to stay clear of billing it as a proper Match, as I think they wanted to avoid having a 25-30 minute Match where Cena would lose clean. Hence, they ended up gimmicking the Match instead, where despite it being a very quick squash, didn’t really hurt Cena due to it barely counting as a Match, and afterwards being very much forgotten.
I’ve always had a feeling Taker never wanted Cena at Wrestlemania though, potentially because he knew the Streak would be at stake. It always felt strange that it never went down during the decade or so that Cena was the face of WWE. Ultimately, eventually they couldn’t get away from it since neither really had anybody left to face, but it ended up just being more of a quick bit of fun. They never even had a proper stare down in the middle of the Ring before hand.

I think it was just right. By that point, Taker was broken down and slow. Cole made a comment about how good Taker looked and how agile he was, which is manageable in the first minute or so. Anything more than six or seven minutes would have just been hard to watch, knowing how good he was ten years before.
It wasn't something I really considered but management's justification for the short match made sense.

I wanted more but I was fine with the squash. It was meant to boost Taker’s confidence and restore some of the mystique to the character.
Anytime Cena gets squashed I’ll be entertained.

As a Taker fan but never a Cena fan I was completely fine with it.

I used to hate Cena in his PG prime (loved the Dr of Thuganomics gimmick) but I almost feel like he's cheating his old haters when he gets squashed so easily. When happy go lucky movie star Cena loses in a squash sure it's somewhat surprising, but it's the super Cena 5 moves of doom version who terrorized the main event scene in WWE for a nearly a decade that I want to see take the pin. I get it, he's old and an actor now so he can't go all out but before he retires for good I want to see the real Main Event John in another feud with some serious weight to it.

There weren’t many squashes that didn’t go John’s way and I think the only one that was a real shocker was Brock at SummerSlam 2014 I’ve grown to like and appreciate Cena quite a bit over these past few years but Super Cena was definitely hated and for good reason

It’s was perfect. Undertaker clearly couldn’t go anymore due to time breaking him down. The angle of Cena trash talking him for weeks made it so Cena needed to be ended quickly. It was booked like an early Undertaker match. It all worked so well and I honestly believe it’s how Taker should have ended his career, outside Wrestlemania 30.

It could have been enormous. At the height of the streak it would have created real drama because Cena was a legit threat.
Cena haters would have been foaming at the mouth at the prospect of him ending it.
Smart fans would have known Taker respected John & would have looked at the lights for him.no problem.
Perfect.....buuuuut they never did. Jesus I can imagine the atmosphere 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I actually loved it lol... one of the funniest moments @ WM34 tbh, highly underrated.
I’d say it’s probs the best squash match ever.

If it was written in stone that the streak must end then Cena should've been the one to do it.
The crowd reaction would've been insane.

It just wouldn’t have worked at any point
The two faced in 2003 in a fairly solid match at the beginning of Cena’s popularity
When he was peak face of the company, there was just no way it would’ve worked for him to face Undertaker
The time it happened, was the perfect time for it to, however, what Vince wanted for the match is something that will never be understood

This match could have been HUGE... one of the hugest matches ever around 2007-2016... it would be amazing to witness it.

Was supposed to happen at Mania 32 but then John got hurt. Even if he didn't it probably was best Shane stepped in and people went in expecting a bit less. Cena/Taker at Mania 32 probably would have been slow and awful.
I wish they did a better job building Mania 34. But im guessing the company had little faith in Taker being able to go for too long after the Roman debacle the year prior.

I think a big reason we didn't get it sooner was because Cena was on Raw during most of his 05-2015 run while Taker was on SmackDown. I think it could've worked best for WM 24 or 25. But Cena was so hot then, I don't think they would've booked a clean loss for him and it would be a huge loss for the streak. Oh well, lots of dream matches/programs are passed over for one reason or another and just slip away.

I think it would of been very underwhelming but I think you could of got little more mileage out of Taker and John here. The Shane match was the last breathe of a okay Taker match
