I just showed up to say that ROH Legend Kevin Steen making his WWE debut at Payback tonight wearing a Mario Lemieux jersey may be my new favorite thing in wrestling this year, I've missed seeing him around.

if they want Ripley to be like Chyna, have her start taking shots from the men, even accidentally, or the faces need to find a woman to counteract Rhea.

Prob the worst PPV of 2023 for WWE so far imo.
As mentioned, the tag match and cage matches were phenomenal but the rest of the card was a stinker.
Raquel/Rhea and Knight/Miz dragged on forever. Almost as if someone forgot their spots in both matches. Raquel looked blown up, adding Cena as a ref was clunky and unecessary.
Shinsuke/Rollins was ok but not great. For a mid card match it would have been fine but further puts a bad spotlight on why Roman is needed to main event PPVs.
Theory/Mysterio was boring for me, felt mostly like a rehash of their SD match.
Interesting to see where Zayn/Owens go from here. Im hoping its not a heel turn for one of them just because.

KO and Sami had a disappointing reign imo. The build was so incredible but it just felled flat afterwards. Don't really know where they can go from here but I think losing the titles won't be a bad thing for them and hopefully they get something important to do to freshen them up

Woah woah woah, Honey Nut Cheerios and Frosted Flakes respectfully disagree Guys, can we please not debate cereals in here. My indecisive ass will have an anxiety attack. At least they could have mentioned Fruity Pebbles so it would be a Cena reference.

Ok, came back to give actual thoughts.
First of all, as far as match results go, I have never before had a wrestling show where not only did every single match go the way I wanted it to, but there was extra special bonus content in the element of non-match stuff happening that fulfilled my wildest dreams.
Was all the wrestling itself great? No. Really the best match of the night, even from an unbiased opinion, was the tag match, and while the cage match was incredible as well, much of the rest of the card was lackluster. But then, I do have to admit that Payback is a minor-level PLE so it's not the end of the world.
That said, the thing that gets me most here is the potential.
LA Knight getting involved with Cena? Win/Win situation honestly, unless something goes horribly wrong everyone is gonna benefit from this. Putting Knight with Cena might just be the thing he needs to convince the doubters in WWE management that he needs pushed to the moon and with it being made clear Cena is happy to give him the rub, again, if this goes right, LA Knight is gonna come out on top here and might just end up in the running for a major title.
Shinsuke being in his first ever PPV/PLE main event since debuting, I dunno, say what you will about him but it was honestly about time and them finally making the WHC important again (and setting the bloodline aside entirely for once) was very refreshing please let it continue. I don't know if Shinsuke and Seth will continue (probably considering the post show) but really, Seth getting the spotlight for a change gives me hope that the new WHC can mean something and he can have some awesome stuff in the near future.
Damian still not cashing in was wonderful because it means that can continue to be a source of drama. Say what you will about Finn vs the Briefcase, that briefcase is being used as a heck of a plot device right now to the point of driving the plot and if they can play this right, maybe have it set up that Damian eventually does try to cash in, only to get screwed over in some way, be it by Finn Balor or a member of the group mentioned below (more on that later), it will be an amazing addition to the story when it happens.
Trish and Becky had an awesome blowoff match that, with that feud hopefully being over now, is a great send-off to it and potentially Trish. If Trish heads back home now, it'll be with her head held high and yeah. That match was epic and goes to show what the women can do if they are just given a damn CHANCE. But, that said, it means Becky can move on to bigger and better things which leads me to...
The Judgement Day vs Sami and Kevin
Ok, so you guys know I'm biased. And I know a lot of people were wanting this feud to be over. But dangit suddenly, things have gotten INTERESTING. Sami and Kevin's reign sucked and nobody was happy with it, especially not Sami and Kevin themselves. (No really, Kevin was physically incapable of shutting up about how unhappy he was, just watch any of his recent interviews.) But now, they've lost the belts in what was easily the match of the night and they did so in a way that made them look stronger than they've ever looked as a tag team. On top of that, now you have the element of Cody bringing Jey into the picture, Cody and Jey who both have well storied histories with Sami and Kevin and, oh look, Becky's schedule has suddenly had an opening, and what do you know, you are suddenly looking at the potential for a 4+1 vs 4+1 situation between Sami/Kevin/Jey/Cody/Becky and The Judgment Day/JD. And, with the ongoing internal turmoil between members of TJD, paired with what's bound to be issues between Kevin and Jey...
I have never been more excited to see what comes next in WWE since last year.
They wanted to make Judgement Day the next bloodline? Congrats. You gave them all belts. But now the fun part, much like with the bloodline, is watching them be ripped apart piece by piece, losing title after title until there is nothing left, the group splits up, and we move on to the next group of people.
Basically, the show was good, but the potential for the immediate future is even better and as long as WWE doesn't WWE that potential into oblivion (like they very well might) it's gonna be fun to see what comes next.

Cena can literally get a hair transplant. He can literally use a hair restorative foam. Instead he just slicks it back to "cover" the bald spot which it doesn't even do. I'd be willing to bet that Cena already did have a hair transplant, just that most of the transplanted hair went to his hairline and the frontal region.
