Starting to wonder if some legal documents were signed saying that Punk and Tony can’t discuss anything about AEW post AEW. When asked about Punk in an interview over the weekend, TK said he can't legally talk about it. So probably.

The more I think about it, I’m glad he didn’t mention AEW or his former boss. I know it was the recent past but leave it in the past. Move forward and make a bunch of money and make magic in the ring.

It's more than obvious that he can't say anything about AEW, same as TK publicly said he legally can't comment on Punk joining WWE. I don't know why people wanted him to trash TK tonight though. Tribalism at its ugliest? Once he settles in he'll give you a better promo, but it'll be about winning gold in WWE, not workplace drama. Punk/Roman is my bet. WWE won't have Phil long so they'll hurry that program up and leave Cody for later since Cody has years left. Yeah I’m guessing his contract is only 1-3 years and then I’m assuming he’ll probably retire.

Here’s a good question: Who’s his first opponent before he makes it to Seth?

Little bit underwhelming. First promo/address, really should've been in Chicago - not Nashville... Also should've opened the show... Also, go away the Creeds.

Here’s a good question: Who’s his first opponent before he makes it to Seth? Finn seems like a safe bet imo,big enough of a name, good to great in the ring to make Punk look good and has took enough Ls that one more won't hurt. I didn't need him to go scorched earth on Tony or AEW,honestly that's been done enough when guys goes to AEW that I can live without it for a few years to come but tonight just didn't live up to what I thought it was gonna be after Saturday. Maybe that's more on me then anything but tonight felt like a huge let down after that Survivor Series moment. Please don't tease me with AJ and I never see her in a WWE ring again, give me Seth/Becky v Punk/AJ asap

I think the promo was more of taking the high road and focusing on the positives than taking digs at AEW which wouldn't further him or WWE's product. The story here is how Punk trashed WWE and hell froze over and now he's back in the very place he spent the last 10 years distancing himself from. That's the novelty. The novelty isn't running down a rival promotion that's worst enemy is itself.
Also if he goes out drops a pipe bomb, it diminishes it the next time he does it or keeps expectations super high. They know they need to keep that ammo in their pocket to tell an actual story. Like others have said, he did that schpiel already 2-3 times.
My only hope is that they don't just use him to get other people over. He's got a story that needs to be told and needs to culminate with him headlining wrestlemania.

Punk vs Rollins at WM40 in the main event of night 1 is the way forward hopefully
