...dead as a doornail.
We've been having trouble with one of the temps lately. Minor things mostly, like him walking around with his pants unbuttoned/fly down, huffing paint thinner, overstaying his breaks, riding hand trucks like scooters, spitting on the floors, and the like.
Anywho, he comes in today, and apparently in the most matter-of-fact tone, told a co-worker "You know - I feel like killing myself". Ok. Cool. So rather than smart it up and call the cops, the higher ups hold out to the end of the day to finally let him go.
Kid has a grudge against me, a bunch of my preferred co-workers, and my fiance, and is a picture perfect example of a workplace assailant.
Nice knowing you guys.

Well Hell is much cooler than Heaven. Heaven you sit on a cloud with nothing to  ing do. At least in hell you can run around doing whatever the you want, except drink Ice Water. |

Note how I've opened the story with a direct, stated problem, and then followed up with specifics, accompanied by a humorously sarcastic quip, describing rather obvious and atrocious matters as "minor" RED FLAG! RED FLAG! RED FLAG! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! A comment like this is something that should be treated with the most swift and delicately precautious attention possible, however... Undertones. The smarmy, "duh, duh" manner in which this statement is delivered indicates that upper management did not treat a situation that could turn violent in a delicate manner, and instead, potentially endangered 90 some-odd employees today, before finally firing him at quitting time. Wrap up statement - I am not on said individual's "Friends List", nor are any of my friendly co-workers or my fiance. the kid has displayed psychotic tendencies, as well as potentially dangerous behavior (See: RED FLAG!), has been at work long enough to know entrances, exits, and the layout of the plant, and was just fired. I've been in this situation twice, I think. At school, this cross-eyed guy was getting bullied by some kids in my grade. So, they pull out a joke that was infact kind of funny - I mean, who hasn't laughed at someone's expense before? Anyways, the kid turns and looks straight at me and storms off. The next day he brought a ing gun to school, but he got excused because he was in special care.. in, I was scared as crap. At some times, you have no idea he's going to try and hurt you, but if you have evidence call the police. |
