Thinking about getting my wife the 30gb Zune that's on sale today at a few places. It's a 1st generation version, unlike the new versions. She would probably just use it in the car and to watch a video during her lunch break. So I thought I'd ask what anyone here who has one thinks about theirs and if it is worth getting.

They have one on sale for like $80 at TRU. I have a Zune myself. It's a very nice device and being on sale for such a low price makes it very much so worth it. 30GB will fill up relatively fast if you have big videos and hundreds of albums, though. That said, it's definitely big enough to hold a lot of stuff. The big screen is a nice plus, as is the very nice display with a customizable background. Here's mine:  |

You can buy an 80 gb on sell for $80. I'd go that route if you're going to buy one.

I'm thinking of getting one as well, does the video play horizontally or vertically? Horizontally. When you turn it sideways the button functions switch accordingly. Also, make sure to turn off the wireless feature when not in use and to power it down completely (not in sleep mode) or else your battery will drain really fast. |

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone had problems uploading to it because it only accepts some video formats?
The Zune 80gb sounds good, but this is just for my wife who wouldn't need that much room. I have a Creative Zen Vision W 30gb, and mine kicks any other PMP's balls and makes them cough blood.

Yeah, while we're on that, what video formats does it take?
Does the Creative Zen Vision play video in its correct aspect ratio, or does it distort it at all?

30 GB? Isn't that like 30,000 songs? For only $80? Sheesh! In mid 06 it cost me over $100 for an iPOD that held 240 songs.

Damn Technology! Once it comes out, the prices are skyrocketing. After a year or so, the prices are slashed like there's no tomorrow! LOL. I have an iaudio x5l (L for longer battery). I'm pretty happy with it even though the screen size to watch videos is like really tiny compared to what is out there these days. But then again, I paid 300 bucks when it came out for 20gb! but that was really high back then. lol.
