Yeah. So question. Where does everyone go to get their taxes done? If you you do. I've done mine myself since I started working ,and I finally decided I want to get money back. Not like it's going to be any...so yeah. Discuss and all. Taxes.

I've been actually thinking of getting mine done by someone too. My last semester at college, I had a professor that also worked for H&R Block...she told all of us we could be getting back more than double what we usually do based on what we told her. I gotta look into it more.

Be careful with H&R Block and those companies. Often, their employees are poorly trained, and will file returns that are incorrect. Unfortunately, that will come back to haunt you later.
I do it myself, but also usually have my brother assist, as he works for the IRS.

I've used turbotax.com for 4 years. The 1st year's application is slightly tedious since you have to add all of your information there, but after that it takes like 15 mins to do them (if you haven't changed jobs) since it saves all of your info.
The last 5 years I only had 1 W-2, this year I'm gonna have 3! Hopefully it'll be a long time before I have to do that again. I finally settled on a good job, I'm guessing they're settled on me too lol

I do mine this year. I need to figure out how much I'm getting back so I can change my witholdings. I hate getting a huge refund. I'm not a fan of what Uncle Sam does with that interest free loan I give them every year. I can think of a dozen other things that I can do with it that are better.

The county I work for has them all done, but they're refusing to mail them out until January 30th. I do not have a clue why. That's government for you I guess.

I always thought the more you make the more you end up getting back. it went from $300 to the next year being $80 (made much less) to this year $50 (made much more than both years before) of course I am still waiting on my second W2 but it looks pretty crappy for a refund this year and I was hoping to jump on the HDTV bandwagon.

A small refund is good. It means you're not paying too much in taxes like a lot of people (including myself unfortunately) do. It means you're taking home your money. |

Well yeah but it's always nice to have that random amount of cash come back to you. You know like "hey that's $800 I didn't know I had". So yes technically it's good, but who doesn't like the refund check they get back in the mail.

You should set up a savings account to automatically deduct X ammount from each check. You could go into it in January and have a good sum of money you didn't know you had plus interest. |

Ill either have my moms friend do them or this place called Liberty Tax, at Liberty they take out like 20 bucks and you get your return the next day.

Mine should hopefully be coming in pretty soon, I'm assuming the same person who does my parents taxes will be doing mine. Hopefully I can get my return back before I go to DC, as I'd like to have some extra cash for my trip and my return is going to be a decent chunk of unexpected change.
