Personally i don't. I prefer a natural wood (or natural wood effect, like Beech or Pine) as its bright, and tends to look good in most rooms.
I have seen some great black displays, But i like to stick to brighter colours.

Black is good, but the dust will be more noticeable.

My cabinet is white. I like it. Not sure how black would look tbh.

Personally, I prefer the "natural wood" color or lighter shades as they usually blend well with the room.
But I've seen some very impressive black cabinets and shelves too.

A darkish wooden color is the best.

If i was you i would go with the orange-coloured wood that is often used for desktops and so on. Light wood colours are better than black. Black takes away from the figures and stops them from being very noticeable.

I love black. The figure would stand out.

I have all black shelves, figs look ok, but you need a lot of light in the room. I recycled older CD Shelves to start my displaying and then felt a necessity to stay with the color concept. To be completely honest I would go with a lighter color if I had the scratch to start over from step one.

my 2 shelves are black & i like them, the figs stand out nice against it. i used to have a white one which was cool too just cuz i didn't have to dust it as much.

I display some of my figures on a mahogany bookshelf and it's not bad looking. I think that the darker the colour, the harder it is to see figures at the back of a shelf.

Thanks for the input fellas. I think i might get the black one, because i wasnt always fond of other wood colors. This could be locked now, I guess.
