2002 and 2003 were my golden years of WWE. Nobody has yet pointed out that they had Ultimo then, but even though they used him much like Rhyno, it was amazing to see him in a WWE ring. 2004 was ok but it has gone downhill from there and odd numbers have nothing to do with it. All we have now is Cena, Batista, Edge and Mysterio against terrible new guys with no charisma at all, and jobbers. I have to admit i much prefer the new ECW to the current WWE. The wrestling is a lot better and moves connect and sell well, whereas in WWE everything has to be politically correct and every exciting move pretty much has been banned.

2003 was AMAZING.
2004 was more of the same.
2005 was good.
2006 just sucked.
2007 is the best year since 2004.

In terms of product quality, 2007 hasn't been soo bad. But the wrestling industry has just been hit with so many tradgedies that make the year awful.

from 1998 to 2002 WWE was great
then in 2003 it starting going down a bit because Rock, Austin, Hogan all left, and were no longer full time wrestlers. They only made few appearances a year.
2004 was ok, i actually think 03 was better than 04, simply because WM 20 had so much hype but was not all that good. Lesnar/Goldberg flopped big time and left. Evolution broke up, Orton was not ready for the title, and HHH was dominated RAW and was boring as a heel.
2005 was a bad year for WWE, WM 21 and One Night Stand were good, Hogan/HBK was not bad, but the rest of the year was bad IMO.
2006 was awesome, a good WM show that did not even have that much star power, the rebirth of ECW, although 2006 does have the worse PPV of all time, December to Dismember.
2007 starting off great, minus the HHH injury, it was a good start. The Rumble/No Way Out and the buildup to WM 23 were great especially for the WWE and WHC title matches. And then they got hit with the injury bug, and the Benoit situation occurred. 2007 overall so far is a bad year, it could get better with Jericho coming back.
2008 ? ? ? ? ? - if everyone stays relatively healthy, it should be a great year for WWE. WM 24 will be outdoors, possible Rock return, and there roster will be stacked with HHH, HBK, Kennedy, Cena, Orton, Lashley, Taker, Batista, Umaga, Rey Mysterio, Carlito, MVP, Hardys and so on. Also Hart Foundation and Ted Dibase's kids should be up to the main roster.

2003 was fantastic. Wrestlemania was amazing with HBK/Jericho, HHH/Booker, Hogan/Vince, Rock/Austin, and Lesnar/Angle. Raw wasn't that great since it was the HHH show, but it was still where anything could happen since it was live. There were some interesting things like Austin becoming sheriff, Goldberg coming to the WWE, Kane unmasking, Orton's rise, etc. Smackdown was great from top to bottom. Sable-Stephanie had some good stuff, all Lesnar/Angle/Show stuff was great, Cena-Taker had a great fued, TWGTT was on the rise, etc.
Every year since then has felt like a step down.

I'll solve ALL of WWE's problem in 2 words.
Shock Factor.
Or, lackthereof, IMO. The Save Us 222 thing is genius. Pure genius. While, back in 99 or 00-01 this would've been stupid because it was over done, this is a long awaited and very much needed thing. It keeps us thinking.
We need the DDP Stalker angle of 2007. Something that shocks us.
I think the WWE is in a transition era right now. Through '95 to '99 and even BEFORE '95 the WWF was losing a lot of star power and had to create their own stars. Thus, Austin, The Rock, Triple H were brought out and carried the company. 2001 was amazing. We had Undertaker, The Rock, Triple H, Austin, Kurt Angle all as top main eventers, then Jericho, Benoit, Guererro, amongst others as solid mid level stars. It was just great wrestling accompanied by great entertainment.
