Bob Backlund should be right up there..The guy held the title for what?? 5 years! Awsome battles with SNUKA,MURACO,SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM,the list goes on and on..Talk about the most underrated champion EVER! Why isnt he in the HOF?
As for the list, i'd go with HULK HOGAN..

I really liked The Rock. He had great wrestling talent and awesome mic skills as well.

While without a shadow of a doubt respect majority of those names on that list above I 'll have to go with my boy Brock Lesnar simply for the fact that I was completely focused on WWE programing week after week from when he debuted on TV to the end of his WWE career. Even before that I saw him wrestle a few times during house shows/dark matches before when he began and his power house energy with his collegiate-wrestling style was just never seen before aside from Angle of course and was amazing IMO. took the words right out of my mouth.....

Hogan is by far being that he totally changed the business forever.
Sammartino is right there as well. He was the highest paid athelte up until Hogan I believe, which includes ALL pro-sports!
Bob Backlund: I don't think anyone had greater matches than him other then Bret!
Bret because of his match quality like Backlund, but also had the modern look to him as well
Savage: He proved he could hold the torch during the Hogan era
Any of those 5 IMO...

this has gone from June 19th to September. bumped hard I agree. I would like to say the new champion since then but there isn't a new champion. Still the Rock non Kayfabe. Kayfabe there is only one man in my book that can hold that Torch and that is Hulk Hogan. He held the title 6 times and 4 years once. He can't wrestle but he can drop a leg and demand large amounts of money even though polls from earlier this year say people would rather him not be there and would watch it more likely if he wasn't there. So if anyone should have gotten paid for a Hulk Hogan appearance at Wrestlemania 23 it was Vince.
