Chris Benoit was probably a good guy when the steroids weren't kicking in. The fact is, Chris Benoit was not a cold blooded killer like Jeffrey Dahmer or Adolf Hitler. He did a terrible atrocity that can not be justified and killed two people, including a young 7 year old that he brought into the world. As a person of faith, I suppose it's possible that if he repented enough between the deaths of his family and his suicide that he is in Heaven. I just don't know. There's no way to justify his evil acts.
However, there's also no way around the fact that had he not been on drugs, he wouldn't have done what he did.
Should pro wrestling be banned in America? At least the WWE? McMahon has this overall idea of what wrestlers should look like, and 'roids are where everyone turns.
Look at Benoit in the 80s and 90s in Japan, ECW, and WCW. He wasn't big. Probably because it wasn't until he came to WWF in 2000 that he felt he was expected to do drugs.
Do you think pro wrestling, or at least the WWE, should be forgotten and done with in America? Outlawed by the government?
Person emotions towards WWE and being a fan aside, for the safety of the wrestlers, should it be?

This is one of the dumbest topics I've ever seen on the boards.
Congrats.

No. Wrestling, like others here is life to me. I couldn't fathom a world without wrestling. And I couldn't imagine doing anything else when I get older, either.

No. This is one of the dumbest topics I've ever seen on the boards. Congrats. Why? A stupid topic is "What is the best ring rope color ever???" not one based off of logic and the wrestlers' safety in mind. I never said I thought it should or shouldn't be, but it's obvious that the media has always been anti-WWF, dating all the way back to the mid 1990s during the steroid scandal. And honestly, I think that they have enough reason to be. I enjoy wrestling as much as anyone, but safety is safety.

I don't care if you inject that needle every minute for twelve hours, so called "roid rage" was not the cause of Chris' rampage.
If the toxicology reports prove different, I'll apologize. Until then, I believe he knew what he was doing... and is a coward.

No. The government needs to just crack down on Vince and his whole idea of how guys should be. Wrestlers need to be able to take time off periodically without having to worry about their job. If they took time off to be with their families, work out, so while they are in shape, they arent on steriods. It's not all of pro wrestling that is to blame for the roid issues, it's Vince.
Look at ROH and Japanese wrestling. Six packs arent a very common thing like in WWE. The pro wrestling community, including fans, shouldnt be punished for wrestlers using roids.

The idea that the government would step in and shut down a company is ridiculous.
They can't claim unsafe working conditions as the wrestlers many times are doing this to themselves.
They have no claims that it causes superstars to be bat crap crazy...a few of them apparently are anyway.
They have no monetary claims that can be brought against the company over this as Benoit apparently acted out of feelings that he apparently had that had nothing to do with the company.
There is no claim that can be made about Vince not testing for steroids.
There is also no proof Benoit had anything in his system anyway...and if he did he did so on his own.
This thread is dumb.

You're an idiot, truly.
WWE doesn't demand you do steroids, they don't even encourage it. Not to mention the fact you compared him to a man who killed millions of people.
Just wow.

How do you know that he was on drugs when he did this? How do you know he was normally a good guy when he wasn't on drugs? Maybe he was just a private, moody, hateful guy. The person to blame for this horrible thing happening is Chris Benoit himself, period.

I'm not blaming anyone but Benoit, just saying that if he was a roid head, it probably didn't help his cause as far as rage goes. Again, the media continues to attack the WWF despite everything you've said (and I agree, everything you said is true.). Obviously the media wouldn't continue to attack WWF if they felt there was no chance of anything being done. They even got close to actually having something done in the mid 90s.

The Ultimate Warrior? The Undertaker? Kane? The Big Show? The list goes on. As for Michaels, there are always exceptions.

Vince doesnt have to give wrestlers time off. Its a job, if you can tafford to get time off then dont train and become a wrestler. People know that wrestlers dont get time off so if someone is not commited to take time off then dont train and become a wrestler. simple as that.
