What about his lack of excitement when RVD returned? exactly. watching videos from 97/98 of jr makes me sad to see him now.

I just watched Raw XV Anniversary and I noticed how JR lacks enthusiasm when talking about anyone entering the ring. He used to mark out when Austin came out and now hes like 'Theres Stone Cold, The Rattlesnake' instead of 'BAH GAWD ITS MOTHER ING STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN, ALL HELL IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE, BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY' I first noticed this when Jericho made his return. Anyone agree? Ross has been like this for the better part of a decade. He lost his ability when he was struck with bells palsy. He has never been the same since his commentary days in WCW. That Jim Ross rocked. Now he is a shell of his former self. It doesnt help when Jerry Lawler has completely gone downhill as well. Give me Cole or Styles with JBL anyday.

Styles/Matthews is the best combination WWE could offer for RAW.

Styles/Matthews is the best combination WWE could offer for RAW. They're really both better in a play-by-play capacity. You need a color guy, which, yes, Josh has done...but he sucks at it (although his "It's breaking down here on Velocity!" catchphrase was gold).

Ross and Lawler are still the best announce team in the business by far.

I've gotta confess I had a liking for Cole and Tazz. I'm a huge fan of Tazz on color.

Styles/King would actually be much better, come to think of it. They'd get at each other's neck when they disagree like classic JR/King.

As much as I like JR he has lost it a long time ago and I do think it hurts the feel of the show. JR use to make you feel like you were watching something special and get you excited for what was gonna happen but that is no longer the case.

He is inconsistent. Excited when HBK returned and the Flair-Orton match and then awful on Monday. As a face commentator Lawler sucks. JR works much better feeding off someone disagreeing with him. I was watching Royal Rumble 05 yesterday and when Coach and Tazz are commentating with him he gets in to it a lot more. King should go back to being a heelish commentator.
