If anything he owes his success to Eddie. Eddie heavly pushed the idea of losing his title to JBL.

Next you're gonna tell me, Punk should thank Benoit for the ECW title. Or Maybe Morrison should thank Mercury for getting injured at Armageddon 2006, that some how sent the former Johnny Nitro's stock up to be nothing short of a third tier-World Champion. Mercury and Morrison were seperated before Armageddon, and that was just temporary, obviously.

JBL in 04-05 was the greatest thing ever on Smackdown. He instantly became my favorite the second he tured into JBL. Now..I dunno. I just don't care he's back. Maybe b/c it's Raw?

I think, this is a ridiculous, personal opinion thread. Poor You and Poor Brother of yours. You are both so MARK in the field of Pro WrestlingMy best bet, you are at your Teens... Before you make a statement, please dont make a fool about yourself and your brother. Discussing this with my brother the other day and it really is the truth..... JBL owes his career to Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar leaves after WMXX. Vince needs a new top heel for SD! to fill his void. Being that he was just screwed over by a person who was still a rookie in many senses, Vince decides he needs to go with someone who he knows won't walk away at some point down the road. He picked someone who showed loyalty to the company. That man was Bradshaw. If Brock never left and stuck with the pro wrestling thing, I think it's a safe bet that there is no JBL. No WWE champion. No "wrestling God". No entertaining announcer. The only time we would have seen him was on WWE.com in the "Where Are They Now" files. Do you think JBL thinks about the fact that his success was due to Brock Lesnar? Intentional or not, if I were JBL......I would've at least sent him a card over the holidays . Dear Brock, Thank you for my career and stuff. - JBL No need to get all upset. I'm twenty, my brothers 24. I'm just saying that JBL was brought to being after Lesnar left. I'm curious if his character would have been as huge with Lesnar still taking up the top spot on SD! Opinons are opinion, however, so I respect yours. No need to bash though.

Someone tell me what the job of a heel is... When you come up with that answer, you'll realize why JBL was successful champion. Did he get the spot just because Brock Lesnar left? Maybe he did, but does it really make a difference anyway? That's what this business is about, it's about making yourself into a star so you can make someone else into a star and draw money together. JBL is the man and he entertained the s*** out of me when he was on top, hell he still does. Not every heel is a star. I don't consider JBL a star. He was a guy they gave the belt to so the stars who could draw could chase for the belt. That doesn't make him a star. Show me any match that JBL was impressive in. No one can because he was carried in every match except when he fought Big Show because there were no ring generals in those. Just because JBL wasn't impressive in the ring doesn't mean he wasn't a star. People always forget, wrestling is not about your skills in the ring, it's about telling a story and making people believe your every move. JBL was a hated heel, people came to see him get beat by other guys who draw, like you said. I hate when people analyze wrestling like they're part of the business. You're a fan, your job was to pay money and to be entertained. They obviously did well because you're still paying them, eh?

Actually no he doesn't. That storyline was in the works for over three years. They wanted JBL to do that gimmick on Raw as an opponent to Triple H before they ever moved him to Smackdown.

I think in a way yes and in a way no. I think JBL was more popular with lesnar leaving but i dont think lesnar staying would have prevented the creeation of the character. Anywho, if brock did cause it, then thank you to him. He created a wrestling Goooooooooooooooooood....

I just couldn't believe that Bradshaw, the guy from the APA that drank, smoked cigars, and played cards backstage with Farooqe suddenly got the push of a lifetime out of no where. What can I say? It worked and JBL was/is one hell of a heel.

It's sad that the WWE went from an exciting young star like Brock Lesnar to an old, overweight former-jobber like JBL. yeah, no doubt.

JBL owes his career to his Nazi stunt in Germany. If it wasn't for all the crazed media that they got over it he'd never have been Champion. WWE drew off his racist antics with his feud against Eddie Guerrero and the intollerable "Wrestling God" we know today is because of that.

Does HBK owe his career to Marty? Shawn Michaels wasn't a 30-something year old career mid-carder when he got his big break.

Heyman said it best, 'The only reason you were WWE Champion for a year was because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays.'
