If you look at the games coming out, and are only picking the PS3 because of the controller, get the 360. The only reason to pick the more expensive PS3 is if you really need MGS4, Gran Turismo, and a Blu Ray player.
Controllers these days are all pretty much the same (outside of the Wii, obviously) Four face buttons, laid out in a cross shape, two shoulder buttons, a main joystick, a secondary joystick, and a digital pad. Most modern day controllers are inspired by the SNES controller design.

Another thing, not all of the PS3's are backwards compatible. I think only the 60gb is right now, and that is selling fast since they aren't making anymore.
I've been weighting the two consoles for months. I've loved my PS2 and didn't like the first Xbox at all. But I just decided to get the 360. Right now I don't care about the next-gen dvd war. So I don't need to buy a system that has a player, even though I bought one from Best Buy in that big sale they had 2 weeks ago(and I don't even have the console yet). As much as the haters bash the 360 because of the RROD, MS is taking care of the problems. 360 looks to have some great games. If you are a basic gamer who likes the popular titles like Guitar Hero, GTA, and WWE games, both systems have them, so there's no reason to debate them because of that. I like that PS2 has a browser, but you could always hook your pc up to your tv if that is really important to you. Do a lot of research is the best suggestion. And be careful who you ask because there are so many haters out there.

Having never even played an orginal xbox, before getting the 360. I was always with the PS2 and thought i would get a PS3. But the 360 just got way more appealing, With games out like GoW at the time when i bought it, Halo on its way, Crackdown ect. I had to have the 360. Apart from it breaking twice ( Pre Owned , 200 Euro cheaper than store price plus i got pads + game + hard drive ) I am very happy with my 360

So...you literally asked which console to buy, got 2 replys, and less than 12 hours after you made the thread went ahead and bought the 360.
Lock please.
