SNL returns tonight, with former head writer/cast member/Weekend Update anchor/Philly quasi-homegirl/bespectacled MILF/2-time Emmy winner Elizabeth Stamatina Fey as your hostess with the mostest, and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood as musical guest.
Discuss.

Hit the nail on the head with "Bespectacled MILF."
I'm looking forward to next week with Ellen Page hosting.

Tina Fey being there means more Amy Poehler sketches. ...and Carrie Underwood performs with the stage presence of a mannequin, but I'll still watch. "Bespectacled MILF"...genius.

I hope Tina Fey punches Seth Myers off his chair and does Update with Poehler. I'm surprised by two things in this thread: People still care about SNL Seth Myers is still employeed in the entertainment industry. There is nothing funny about him at all. He ruined the last season of That 70's Show, which is quite a feat considering how bad the writing was. There's just nothing entertaining about him.

The only saving grace for tonights episode is that Andy Samberg will bring us a new Digital Short. I hope Tina Fey punches Seth Myers off his chair and does Update with Poehler. It was his brother from Mad TV JOSH Meyers. Seth Meyers = Hilarious. www.imdb.com/name/nm0583570/Josh Meyers = Not so much.

Yeah, but you know how many times over the years people claimed SNL had become irreversibly unfunny or stale? I think that's why it keeps its audience even when the shows aren't fantastic... because people know the quality comes & goes, but it'll be back. And even in the lean years, there is always at least one cast member that makes the show worth watching. I've been watching SNL since the mid-late 80s, and every year, there have been people claiming this was the worst cast, the worst writing, the least relevant, etc. The only cast I can remember that wasn't critically panned and trashed in their day were the Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz etc. crew. Other than that cast and the original SNL crew, every other cast has had to put up with critics claiming they were terrible and couldn't live up to the previous group. The only truly bad casts were in the early 1980s... every other year has had at least one -- usually several -- bright spots.

Been around for decades, dedicated fanbase, cyclical quality...remind you of anything?
