I was really hoping for a big special edition version to be honest, but I guess this is the best I'm going to get. I don't have an FYE or a Suncoast, I'll probably just order the steelbook online. I'm hoping that the steel book has some features the regular DVD doesn't. If not, the DVD already has a feature called "Hidden Research into Case Designate Cloverfield", so hopefully that is something huge.

Is there any news yet on a blu-ray release? That's what I'm wondering. This ain't a movie for the poor. It's for us folk with huge TVs, surround sound, and blu rays!

I'd kinda dig owning this, but my setup is not nearly cool enough to make this that much fun to watch. I'll probably just wait until my local theater has a midnight screening of it TBH.

Seriously, if you saw this movie one time in theaters, is there ever a need to see it again? Well I guess you could say that about every movie...

I wonder if Future Shop (Canada only) will have a blu-ray steelbook like they did for I Am Legend.

classic example of sprucing up the dvd to mask the fact that the movie sucks. someone asked about blu-ray...why do you need to see low-res shaky cam in hd? cloverfield is unwatchable, literally and physically. great marketing though. first week #1, second week #4.

Just b/c you think it sucked doesn't mean everybody thought it sucked. I enjoyed the movie a lot. And if your implying the movie was shot with a crapty cam, they actually used a sony cinealta which cost around 50 grand. They just made it look worse, but its still HD and everything.

If you don't like it, there is no need to reply to a topic about the DVD. Nor, did you have any reason to open the topic in the first place.

I didn't find the "shaky cam" to be that big of a distraction, personally. I feel that having it filmed any other way would've taken away from the emotional feel of the movie.
