Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Delirious (ROH) beat Exaybian Bloodstone (10:42) with the Chemical Imbalance #2. ***
Live Notes: Ring of Honor’s Delirious kicked off the first ever NRW show, and what an opener it was. The crowd were completely behind Delirious, who is an incredible performer. There really wasn’t much doubt about the outcome, although Williams did look close to getting the win.
Road to the Gold Quarter Finals
Mario Calzione beat Matt Hart (5:21) with the Swimming with the Fishes. **
Live Reports: A decent start to the tournament. This was a complete mismatch, Calzione completely overpowered Hart, who the crowd were really pulling for.
Aaron Wade beat Nikollaj Punk (16:42) with the A Bomb. ***1/2
Live Reports: A good showing from both men here, the crowd really got behind Wade, who exploded in the last few minutes with some sick elbows. Punk did his bit as well, hitting some excellent moves of his own, and selling everything Wade hit him with.
Brian Shamrock beat Chef Death (15:21) with the Clover Drop. ****
Live Reports: An incredible match, the crowd love Chef Death, and Shamrock’s in ring ability made this match the high point of the night. Shamrock hit some stiff shots which really looked brutal, and the crowd where on the edge of their seats by the end.
Juanathan Columbus beat Trace Demon (14:14) with the Jamaican Sunrise. ****
Live Reports: An excellent way to end the show. Demon is really an excellent performer who can just about sell anything that is thrown at him, and Columbus is definitely an impressive talent for such a young star. They went all out and the crowd was really hot for this match. |
