WCW Saturday Night: 04/03/96
Segment 1: Public Enemy vs. American Males. A fast paced opener to start the night
. Lots of back and forth action, but it seemed like American Males would advance in the quest to find number 1 contenders
. Rocco Rock managed to score a hot tag and Johnny Grunge managed to send AM into retreat, isolating Bagwell
. The Enemy gave him a spike pieldriver and Rock hooked the leg to advance
OR: 60 // CR: 62 // MQ: 58Segment 2: A Change of Heart from The Wolverine?. In the ring, Kimberley was warming up the crowd when the US Champ Konnan came to the ring
. He berated Kimberly and would fo attacked when Chris enoit ran to the ring and sent Konnan packing
. Konnan left his belt in the ring and as Kimberly embraced Benoit, Benoit was left staring at the US Title belt. could he have alterior motives?
OR: 60Segment 3: Harlem Heat vs. Nasty Boys. The Nasty Boys took it to Harlem Heat i the other Number 1 Contenders match, the winners will face Public Enemy tommorow night
. Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags kept tagging in, working on mainly Stevie Ray. However during a chaotic few moments, the referee was knocked down
. Knobbs grabbed a chair, looking to get nasty and went to hit Stevie Ray but he moved and Sags was left laid out. One Booker T scissor kick later and the Heat were heading for The Main Event
OR: 65 // CR: 68 // MQ: 61Segment 4: The Renegade vs. Hugh Morrus. The Renegade was the crowd favourite in this match and it showed early on as he used the early momentum to back Hugh down
. Morrus would not give up however and came back with an offensive flurry of his own, hitting Renegade with not 1 but 2 running power slams
. Hugh had Renegade down for a moonsault but Renegade moved and Hugh ate canvas
. Renegade got back up and started working on Hugh, as the crowd chanted for Renegade
. Renegade managed to finish off Hugh with a military press slam and celebrated by inviting the kids in the front row into the ring to pose with him
OR: 58 // CR: 68 // MQ: 56Segment 5: Renegade's Big Break. Backstage in his office Larry Zybysko announced he had some big news for Nitro.
. He announced that Lex Luger would be competing twice, first in the tag team title match but also defending his TV title against Renegade
. He closed by wishing us a good night
OR: 70Segment 6: The Giant vs. Kenny Kaos & Robby Rage. The World Champion was unphased by the 2 youngsters opening offense, flinging them away over the top rope.
. Giant followed them outside, slamming both guys into the ring post, then military pressing them from the outside over the top rope into the ring!
. Giant got back in, knocking Rage down with a big boot and slapping Kaos' chest many times in the corner
. Giant grabbed them both by the throat and delivered a Giant double chokeslam, then deliviering a double pin for the impressive win
. Saturday Night came to a close with The Giant posing in the ring with his belt

WCW The Main Event
Segment 1: Harlem Heat On The Stick!. The night starts off backstage with Harlem Heat in the interview area
. Stevie Ray says that last night they got rid of one of the best teams in the world and tonight they will get rid of one of the worst
. Booker T said they would go through anybody to get their tag team titles, and tommorow night they will be 3 nights, 3 wins.
OR: 74Segment 2: Eddie Guerrero vs. Billy Kidman. In a battle of WCW's famous cruiserweights, it seemed like the crowd would be the only winner. The match started with some great chain wrestling, Eddie Guerrero trying to lock on the submission from a number of positions
. Kidman started to gain momentum, sending Eddie over the top rope and nailing a beautiful senton plancha to the outside
. Both men traded blows on the outside, Kidman getting the upper hand, throwing Eddie back itno the ring, but when he rolled back in, he got met with triple snap suplexes
. Eddie started to get the upper hand, finally being able to hit the frog splash for the victory. Both men gave them a great ovation as they shook hands after that great contest
OR: 57 // CR: 46 // MQ: 83Segment 3: Muto Is Coming. Mike Tenay and Bobby Heenan were talking about Nitro when they gave us some shocking news, not only will Keiji Muto be on Nitro tommorow night, but there will be an official press conference coming this Tuesday on the status of Muto and WCW
. This was followed by a short video showing Muto's achievements and his amazing skill. Heenan then hyped his clash tommorow night with Chris Benoit
OR: 72Segment 4: A Message To The Flairs. Backstage, David Flair is talking to his father, when he goes to get something. As he walks round the corner, a large amount of poles are pushed on top of him. David staggers back and a mystery man nails him with a chair. He says in a gruff voice "Send this to your pop" and then jumps on Flair's head. He leaves as officials rush to David
OR: 50Segment 5: Arn Anderson vs. Disco Inferno. The Enforcer walks to the ring slightly annoyed and shocked at his friends son beating so is looking to let it out on Disco Inferno
. Disco uses his quickness early on, taking small shots at Arn, while keeping on the move but Arn catches him with a belly to belly suplex and then grounds him
. Disco tries to fight out of all of Arn's different submissions, but is finding it increasingly difficult, but he finally manages to elbow free
. Disco manages to jump from standing onto the top rope and tries to moonsault onto Arn but Arn catches him and gives him a shoulder breaker!
. Arn picks Up Disco and gives him a hard backbreaker, then sends him off from the ropes. Spinebuster! Arn gets the 1-2-3. He isn't done however and gives him another spinebuster, before finally leaving
OR: 66 // CR: 73 // MQ: 75Segment 6: Harlem Heat vs. Public Enemy. The winners will take on Lex Luger & Sting tommorow, so there is a lot at stake in this match. Booker T starts off with Grunge, exchanging hard shots, Grunge using his fists and Booker his feet.
. Booker has Grunge in his corner a lot and keeps tagging with Stevie but Grunge eventually breaks free and Rocco gets in, knocking down Heat
. Rocco and Grunge set Stevie Ray up for the Drive By but booker runs in and saves him. Booker sends Grunge to the outside and Harlem heat double team Rocco
. Grunge comes in and during the chaos Stevie Ray pulls out a pair of brass knux. He knocks out Rocco Rock as Booker and Grunge go out the ring. Stevie hooks the leg and Harlem Heat are the number 1 contenders! Booker & Stevie run through the audience as the Enemy and crowd are stunned
OR: 59 // CR: 68 // MQ: 62Segment 7: Konnan Gets On The Stick. Just before his US title defence against Chris Benoit, Konnan is backstage just putting himself over. He mentions how ironic it is that no matter who wins the US title it won't be American and mentions how ironic it is that the Crippler is about to be crippled. He walks off to prepare
OR: 80Segment 8: Chris Benoit vs. Konnan. This match started off quickly, with Konnan taking down Benoit and them brawling aroudn on the mat. Konnan started to gain advantage, choking Benoit in a corner
. Benoit started to turn the tables with a release German suplex but Konnan rolled out to buy himself some time and when Benoit came out to meet him, he was met with a hard clothesline ont he floor
. The 2 made there way back into the rign where Benoit finally started to gain some momentum, hitting his signature suplexes, then superplexing Konnan from the top rope
. Benoit started to put Konnan in the crossface but Konnan kicked out. Benoit then locked ont he sharpshooter but Konnan rolled out ring but Benoit hit a suicide dive through the ropes onto him
. The 2 brawled around ringside, Konnan being thrown against the table and Benoit getting slammed into the steps. The 2 got back in the ring and Konnan tried for a double powerbomb but Benoit reversed the second one
. Benoit managed to put ont he crossface but the bell was rung just before Konnan was about to tap as the half an hour time limit has expired. Benoit didn't want that and chased after Konnan as The Main Event came to a close
