After the MP in the Drug Store said sorry, they went and questioned the Army guy. He revealed that the monsters were from another dimension, that spilled through a door that was intended on being a simple window created by scientists. I'm not sure about the store people surviving or not. Loved the movie, by the way.

The store people lived. They are in one of the trucks that drive by in the end. Also, the woman who goes out to get her kids lives too.

i was upset at how poorly it did in the box office. The story was great though and the ending was so good even though it was mega depressing

I haaaaaaaated the movie, so cheesy with horrid effects. But the ending is awesome, what a twist.

I thought it was a pretty well made film. The effects were ok and the ending was a stroke of genius.

Easily one of my favorite recent Stephen King films. Very well done. I was so glad to see it was nothing like "The Fog".
Not to mention, the ending is one of my favorites ever in the genre. Talk about downright hopeless and depressing.

It deserves a second view, I thought it was kind of lame when I saw it in theaters but it's definately growing on me. Worlds better than some of the other King adaptions out there, especially Dreamcatcher.
Some of the FX looks great, some of it looks crapty. I still think the best creature cgi I've ever seen has been in the second Pirates movie, but this one wasn't too horrid.

I just watched it, I actually bought the movie knowing nearly nothing about it. I enjoyed it the whole way through, and you have no idea how happy I was when Ollie popped that idiotic religious bitch. It's one of those things you want to happen, but don't actually expect. I was glad to see it. The ending, sadly, was one of those things I had a feeling would happen. I saw the 4 bullets and went, "Oh no.... He'll be left, and the Mist will fade away..."
So sad.
My favorite part of the entire movie was just the giant monster walking over them. I'm a sucker for big monsters, and I thought just the experience was incredible.

It didn't come to Montana for almost a month after initial release. But I love the movie, I thought in terms of CGI, it wasn't bad. It's easily the best major horror movie in recent years.

I just watched this movie, and it was good, but the ending really killed it for me, i'm sorry, but seeing the guy kill his own kid for 2 minutes later the mist going away is just bs, just not cool, at all...

That's the point. It is not cool. It is a sad, depressing ending. Instead of tacking on your usual hollywood happy ending, they did something unique.

The ending is the best thing for this movie, if they went with a happy ending, the movie itself woulda been so pointless.
But it made perfect sense for the ending to happen though.
