lol! What do you recommend? Really depends on what you're into and what services you have available to watch them (FUNimation, Amazon, Netflix etc.) because I could give you a list of a million but I know you can't realistically buy them all even in SAVE sets but I subscribe to most of the anime services minus Crunchyroll so I could give you a solid list. I've just got Netflix and Amazon for the time being. I'm definitely going to sign up for Funimation. How's Hulu's anime selection?

I've just got Netflix and Amazon for the time being. I'm definitely going to sign up for Funimation. How's Hulu's anime selection? FUNimation has everything Hulu has, without commercials; and more. If you're gonna use Hulu for more than anime then hey. But otherwise just stay the FUNimation course. Recommendations: Ghost Hunt (dramedy/horror) Death Parade (drama) Pumpkin Scissors (action) Full Metal Panic (action comedy, my second fav) Mongolian Chop Squad (music, slice of life) Heroic Age (futuristic action) Jyu Oh Sei (see above) Fullmetal Alchemist (steampunk action) Death Note (drama/psycho) GANTZ (Horror) Devil is a Part Timer (ridiculous comedy) Assassination Classroom (see above) Suzuka (third fav of mine, slice of life) Eden of the East (how this hasn't become an American film yet is beyond me) Welcome to the NHK (slice of life but seriously dark and dreary) The Getbackers (action/comedy) Haganai (if you can deal with the servicey side of it, ing hilarious) Rosario X Vampire (See above) Shuffle! (See Hagani, amplify it by 1000 then add important, straight rip your heart out episodes) Soul Eater (and its pre-sequel, action) And my personal favorite: Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X. Really hard to find. It's a period samurai piece, what's considered to be an "epic" in anime terms and considered with Bebop and Trigun to be the triumvirate of 90's anime not named DBZ that put anime on the map here in the states thanks to Toonami. Argued as one of the best of all time, but it's something you REALLY have to be into to enjoy, similar to Trigun and Bebop respectively. So I just gave you: Action, comedy, drama, harem, period, futuristic, music, fantasy and slice of life, the best FUNimation, Amazon and Netflix have to offer. *Warning, not all of these animes are in the tastes of everyone. Some people hate harem centered shows. Some hate fan servicey shows (the two I have at least have plots unlike Yamato, DxD, PS & G among others). Some don't like epics. Some just don't like shows that are popular. But I'm positive somewhere in there are a few you can cling to. Check them out. They're all fantastic and have mostly all been recommendations at some point or another here by me to someone else and they've taken hold so I'm sure there is something there for you.

Just finished vegging out in Parasyte-the maxim. It had an interesting plot and each episode kept my attention as I HAD to watch the next to see what happens.

I watched Wicked City the other night, been meaning to watch that badboy for quite some time now, it had it's moments but all in all it was ehh..
The spider lady & the dark tone of the movie was pretty cool though.

The spider lady & the dark tone of the movie was pretty cool though. I remember seeing a trailer for that and having high hopes for it. I also had a similar reaction when I finally found it at a thrift shop and then watched it. Not Kawajiri's best. It is okay on it's own merits I guess, but after Ninja Scrol and Vampire Hunter D and Bloodlust it pales.

Rurouni Kenshin isn't hard to find, the entire series is available for free on Crunchyroll subbed & dubbed. I second the recommendation of Kenshin though with a caveat that the first few episodes are terrible & the last third of the series ranges from pretty good to insultingly bad (because the anime caught up to the source material, so instead of getting the fantastic Jinchuu arc that concludes the series, we get a pretty dumb story involving magic Feng-Shui). That said, the middle of the series, the Kyoto arc is more or less perfect. Fantastic story intertwined with nuanced character development for both the heroes & the villains, that builds to a series of some the best constructed fights in anime history. The climatic battle is one heck of a ride (though there's a fight early in the arc that is easily one of the best in anime). Kyoto arc has only been topped by me with Hunter x Hunter's later arcs, namely Yorknew & Chimera Ant. The latter, is my favorite story ever, at least of all I've seen so far. Which segues perfectly, has anyone been catching the dub on Toonami? I've caught the first three episodes (I have no idea how many have aired yet) & it's pretty good except Killua, who so far is pretty bad. The sub contains some of the best vocal acting I've ever heard period (Megumi Han as Gon during the later stages of Chimera Ant, absolutely heartbreaking) but for those who are adverse to subs the dub seems like it may end up as a fine substitute. Though it'll be awhile before the series is really worth checking out, the first episode for example is horrible & the dub made it even worse (not the voice acting by how they translated one of the scenes only highlighted the stupidity of the scene).

Crunchyroll labels it as Rurouni Kenshin & I think you mentioned something way back about watching a different dub than I did, so I assume that's the difference you mean between the two. If my memory & deduction are correct then they definitely have Rurouni Kenshin since I skimmed through an episode & I recognized all the voices I heard.

I originally saw Rurouni Kenshin then I saw Samurai X so I've seen them both. There's a slight "lost in translation" feel between the two. Kenshin is more polished and tells the Kyoto arc much better. The battle with Shishio is all but a throwaway in X and it's depressing.

Crunchyroll has the good version then, Rurouni Kenshin. You don't even have to me a member to watch the whole thing on it though without an adblock or anything you'll have to deal with numerous ads.

Yeah, one of the few reasons I would consider splurging on the DVDs.

Karma's voice actor does a fantastic job with the character.

I've been watching Hunter X Hunter nonstop since I saw it on Toonami and got hooked, such a great anime! So far I'm on episode 92. Personal all-time favorite, namely for the Chimera Ant arc (which is pretty much my favorite story I've ever experienced [though that's not to say it's without it's flaws]). You still haven't seen anything else, the series best episodes are still some ways away. Favorite arc & character so far? Now it's not Pokemon/DBZ/One Piece/Bleach long but I feel it could have been wrapped up. Definitely disagree here, I think the broad scope of the series & the wide range of variety justify the length. From the Neo Noir thriller Yorknew Arc to the MMORPG video game style Greed Island arc, there's a lot of different the series offers a lot of different flavors instead of the consistent ones most long-runners provide (of the ones you mention, One Piece is the only one that deviates from it's established structure to my knowledge but it's a pretty rare occurrence). But to be fair I also don't really mind One Piece's length honestly (well, I don't mind the manga's length, if One Piece was adapted like Hunter x Hunter was there'd only be about 360 episodes right now, as opposed to the 740+ we have now [it's ridiculous]). The series makes excellent use of it's history & constantly foreshadows things 100's of chapters in advance. Plus the world-building & sense of progression in the series is top-notch.

Yeah I'm currently on the Chimera Ant Arc right now, so it's pretty good not yet finished though. As for my favorite arc I'll have to say when Gon were taking the Hunter Exam mainly cuz I enjoyed it more, but yeah I'm still far behind and not yet close to finishing. As for my favorite character or characters I really like Gon and Killua equally, Feitan (Phantom Troupe) and Hisoka cuz he's freaking hilarious with him trying to get at Gon and getting turned on lol, but I'll say Hisoka is my top favorite.
