In an interview conducted by the website VideoGamer.com, series co-creator Ed Boon officially confirmed the number of playable characters that will appear in the game. As of this moment, that number is apparently 20, and is obviously a drastic reduction from MK: Armageddon but more akin to earlier 3D MK games. These characters are what Ed Boon and the MK team consider notable and "iconic", so that still leaves the fans to debate exactly what the definition of that is. As another note, it is also confirmed there will be no new characters introduced into the MK world during this game.
In is a vastly reduced playable character roster ("Every single character is a known DC character, a known MK character. Because they're so iconic, we don't feel like we want to do the huge, massive roster. We just focus in on these core 20 characters").
Other than this, no major revelations are had that aren't covered by any of the other interviews and released information from Gamer's Day. The discussion regarding the gameplay once again promises it to be completely new and not based off the old engine while storyline details remain scarce.

I love that it is only 20 characters, which I'm guessing will be 10 from each side. That means all the good characters will be in, not bullcrap like Meat. 20 is a great number.

It wouldn't have happened in the end. There would have been a ing meltdown amongst Street Fighter fans, and Capcom USA would have been all, "Yeah, that crap's not worth it." 20 guys is good, so long as it's 10 GOOD MK characters (Pretty much going to be like Sub Zero, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Raiden, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn, and Goro) and 10 GOOD DC characters (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Bane, Doomsday, Darkseid, Joker, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Bizarro) I think that roster souns realistic enough.

If you go to www.WorldsCollide.com, your curser changes, allowing you to click on Sub Zero's eye. When you do, a new, smaller page pops up, with 16 small question marks... Let the debate begin. Unlockables?

I'd rather have a DC fighting game without the MK characters.

I can only hope this game is like Mortal Kombat II, which I just played for an hour and a half and didn't get half way up the mountain. Ugh.

The MK series will never reach the awesomeness it had back then ever again. It seemed like they would with UMK3, and then Deadly Alliance, but the most we can hope for is something half as good as MK2. I played it for about an hour last night (MKII), and got to Kintaro, got owned like a bitch, and said 'lol playing Deadly Alliance now'.

The funny thing is YOU bring up Brawl more than any of the supposed fanboys you dislike.

Also, in UMK3, Jade was goddamn hard. The game is broken because you can't beat the crapty computer AI? Games are broken when in versus play, there's a core group of characters with overly abuseable tactics that beat the entire roster with little to no problem. That is not the case with MKII, UMK3, or MK:DA. The rest of the series, I'll give you that.

Also, in UMK3, Jade was goddamn hard. Sounds to me like you just suck, and deemed the games as 'broken' because you yourself cannot beat them. And calling out Asia was totally uncalled for. He was obviously stating his opinion in the same old obnoxious way he always does, he didn't come in here and say "you're all idiots buy MY GAME YOURS SUCKS." Settle down. And what I meant by, 'like MKII', I meant the difficulty. I want a hard ing fighting game, not a breeze.

I hope Nightwing is in... and Catwoman... and Bane. I mean, Joker'd be nice but i'd think he'd be not good in a fighting game.

When I first heard about the game, I shot it down. The more I read about it, the more I'm warming up to it, I'm still not buying it tho. I still think MKII is the best in the series.
