Unbeaten welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced his retirement again, with boxing’s unofficial pound-for-pound king saying he no longer has the passion necessary to fight. Mayweather, the WBC welterweight champion, made the announcement in a letter to select media members Friday. The 31-year-old former U.S. Olympian (39-0, 25 KOs) hasn’t fought since beating Ricky Hatton in December, but was widely expected to fight Oscar De La Hoya in September in a rematch of the richest fight in boxing history. “This decision was not an easy one for me to make, as boxing is all I have done since I was a child,” said Mayweather, the son and nephew of three of the sport’s top trainers. “However, these past few years have been extremely difficult for me to find the desire and joy to continue in the sport.” credit: yahoo sports Maybe he wants to go full time for WWE

WWE couldn't handle his natural charisma. Really?...Charisma?...I don't think so. "I'ma break yo' jaw...I broke yo' nose, I'ma break yo' jaw...I'ma break yo' jaw."

Bull crap. He'll get offered a ridiculous contract to fight De La Hoya by the end of the year and he'll be back.

I doubt it, he was already going to fight De Le Hoya on September 20th for sh it loads of money. Looks like he is gone for good this time which is a shame... I wanted to see him Knock out Ricky Fatton one more time.

He probably has it good from all the money WWE paid him for a scripted performance at Wrestlemania.

I laughed so hard when my friend told me this.
Mayweather is so cocky. But so funny.

He's too ing scared to blow his undefeated streak. That's why he retired. What a chump. If that was the case then why didn't he retire prior to the Hatton fight. Hatton is arguably the hardest opponent he had and people realized that Mayweather could very well lose the fight (it was a great fight anyways). I really doubt he's afraid of losing to De La Hoya. His heart is really not in boxing anymore. You know why I think that, because that's what he said.
