of your gaming history (damn short titles-space).
I was reading a post at Bungie.net, that asked, "What would you be doing if Halo never existed." It was an interesting topic since for the most part, the discussion boiled down to, "I wouldn't own an Xbox or a 360."
So, I'm wondering, have their been any games that, had you not played them or had they never existed, would have changed the course of your gaming history?
I think other than the combination of Sonic 2 and Doom being how I got into gaming, the biggest contributor would be Halo. If I had never played Halo, I would have either kept playing the Gamecube and gone on to the Wii, or, given how the reason I even tried Halo was because I was getting bored with my Gamecube games, would have just stuck with PC gaming until I either got sick of or became incapable of upgrading my PC to keep up.

If there wasn't Halo. Well, It wouldn't matter. I'd probably would still be playing Half Life 1/2/OB.

Super Mario Bros. 3 and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 pretty much locked my faith in the industry on, no matter how bad the industry gets, there will always be something amazing coming out.

Most of the games I've played honestly. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I don't play that many games, but when I do get one I tend to get REALLY into it and they'll effect aspects of my every day life. I rarely go a day without thinking with Portals or imagining a notechart for a song I'm listening to.
I guess the biggest one would be Pokemon though, because I'm a huge Pokemon dork. My life would be very different if I never discovered it... and I almost don't want to think what my life would be like. I met a lot of my best friends because of it.

Mario Bros. 3 is easily the reason I started gaming... if it wasn't for Rock Band and Guitar Hero, I probably wouldn't have a reason to play at least once a day... they are pretty much the only games I really play anymore...

Banjo-Kazooie and Halo. Banjo Kazooie was the first game that I actually completed everything. Halo pretty much got me into FPS games and multiplayer games.

Space Invaders Pac-Man Karateka Dig Dug Wizardry Final Fantasy Tetris Tecmo Bowl Street Fighter 2 Final Fantasy 2 Metal Gear Solid Goldeneye
These are the games that helped me gain an interest in gaming, or helped maintain it, or revolutionize how I look at games.

I probably wouldn't be into games at all if it weren't for Ocarina of Time. Also, I wouldn't have owned an Xbox were it not for Fable.

I remember getting FFVII from my dad who picked it up randomly when I first got a PS1. I never played an RPG before, but that pretty much got me into it. I doubt I'd like RPG's now if I hadn't played that.

I was always into gaming when I was younger, but the game that really got me into it was Goldeneye for the N64.

If I hadn't picked up Street Fighter II for the SNES, I probably wouldn't be gaming now, tbh.

You're probably the only person to ever be influence by Karateka.

If it wasn't for Halo, I probably wouldn't have bought an Xbox. Thus, I wouldn't have bought a 360.
I bet I'd still just be buying Nintendo, and I'd only own a Wii.
(I currently own both 360 and Wii)

Woflenstein was one of the first games I ever really, then there was the pokemon series as a whole, mario games, and madden was pretty much the only game I played for a good three years or so. If it wasn't for those games I would've never kept playing games, however the games that really got me interested in the genres I like now would be Gears of War and Halo 2, mainly Halo 2 it was the first shooter on a console that I really enjoyed so I figured I'd try more.

I actually remember listening to "Kung-Fu Fighting" on a K-Tel record while playing the game. It was one of the first action games that I remember sort of having a story to it. At the time, the graphics were amazing. The final boss was bad ass.
