Ok so you know I had to go in on this, considering I helped you with how you wanted to structure this and what content you wanted to address.
I read the Ben Logan scene when you first wrote it, and I feel about it the same way I did when you first wrote it. There's A LOT to unpack there, but I feel like your dialouge really allowed you to go through the topics without any problem, hitting your talking points with equal parts honesty and efficiency. New writers take note of the dialouge, because this is another masterclass in using dialouge to frame a scene, plus flesh out the characters and drive a narrative. I can't stress enough how much I love the revealing nature of that scene. You write about what you know, and this is the prime example. Plus, you drew your inspiration of this scene from Joe Rogan, which is always going to earn points with me.
I understand the criticism of the topic of MMA vs. Pro Wrestling being used in the scene. As someone who is a fan of both worlds, that debate is always going to have clear sides and both can be rather closed minded about it even if they are influenced by each other. Maybe the mention of how fighters will cut a pro wrestling promo in their media obligations may have been an angle to take, and I believe I told you that at one point, but that wasn't the big takeaway from the scene. It can be brought back easily at a later date with the notion that Penny essentially lost her cool. I think you handled it as well as could be expected because the dynamic was spot on, and it can be overlooked because of how loaded that scene was.
The Josh/Penny conversation was a good way to reintroduce that dynamic, and once again you took a real life situation and used it effectively. This rp, if nothing else was very self aware on all fronts.
But wait, there's more.
The end scene with Vanessa and Penny was a great way to follow up that hard hitting promo. The fact there was minimal dialouge was fitting, and the use of physical narrative made a very subtle allusion that I thought was very well executed.
Overall, this is an example of why you are so respected around here. And I'm glad you decided to tell this story.

And that's why I kept my coding simple with bold for narrative and actions. I always felt it served me better because folks could just read the content as opposed to deciphering through code.

How dare you play with my emotions. I have done bits and pieces for a return RP over the last couple of months but not a huge amount. I definitely don't want to come back without having a bank of stuff written already, I'm just too prone to going 'yeah let's give that another go' and then dropping it almost instantly. Completely agree with you here brother. The timing has to make sense and the story has to be something that you can sink your teeth into and be invested in. That's why when I stepped away, which for me was at a bad time in terms of the opportunity we had in the tournament, I told Drakz (as he was the booker at the time) that I wasn't sure when I'd be be back, but that when I did come back it'd be something that made sense and motivated me. Well, it took three years, but here we are. And I think with you, that's what it's going to take.

Ok, so just a disclaimer I reread your previous installments, just to get a better idea of the story you're telling before I commented on this piece.
I like that you spread the love out between the secondary characters. For the sake of content, that's going to be a big factor moving forward because those characters will make for a much more complete...I want to say environment, but I'm not sure that's the most accurate wording.
I do dig the character work, as most who have commented before have already praised you for. A religious zealot/cult leader type of character is one that can go really bad if it isn't handled with care. I think you are doing a good job thus far in carefully cultivating this image, and the brief scenes with Abigail and The Judge are good examples of a less-is more-approach maintaining some of the mystery.
Here's where I think you could potentially run into trouble with this character. You exiled Brandon too soon. There was goldmine of content there, not only in story but in character development across the board. You could've used Brandon's questioning as more of curiosity to start, allowing Father Luke to extol some of his philosophy and principles in an attempt to further sell Brandon. That will also help with the dialouge because your are having a conversation to sell these people. With those type of characters, the heavy handedness doesn't come until later on because you need to create a utopian existence to get them in the door and make them comply. You may have missed the mark with that particular branch, but it's an easy fix with one simple line to his inner circle (every good cult leader has one), "For every lost soul, there are *insert number that fits* that are willing to listen." And with that, you have another branch to work off with gaining new recruits and the process of inducting them. You haven't explored that branch yet, but just know it's there for when you're ready.
The sermon type promo is the way to go with this character, and to be fair Eccentix didn't have the most history to work with. For future opponents, the "he's a lost soul" bit is only going to get you so far. You need to do your homework on your opponents and really tailor the sermons to what you see as weaknesses. Basically give a why to that claim and use the weakness as evidence. That's where you can play different literary devices to really make it a centerpiece.
Overall, this is a good outing. There were some grammatical things, easy fixes. With your structure and the whole plethora of content opportunities, you don't need much to take your writing to the next level.

Ok so I had break up my reading of this, and just now finally got to it in a single sitting.
I'm not sure how much time you got under your belt prior to this, but the way it's structured leads me to be believe you have at least a couple years under your belt in some different type of feds, maybe like an angle based fed like those I cut my teeth in years ago. That's good if you do, because you have down probably the most important part of this game, which is your main character's voice. He's boisterous, he's bombastic almost to the point of being delusional, but your delivery is done with such conviction that it worked. This had an old school promo feel to the rp itself, and it makes me want to see what other tools you have.
I like the variety show bit that you did here, but it did feel rushed at parts, mostly because there wasn't much in the way of dialouge. What I felt like we got was the lackeys setting up Trey for the punchlines. Pace is something a lot of new guys have trouble adapting to in our style of rp writing, and a strong dialouge is a good way to pace out your content. So if that is a weakness that you're trying to hide to start, well played on recognizing it, but don't be afraid to work on it. There a lot of vets here who are masters at weaving a story in through dialouge that you should take a look at. In recent memory, Mike and Drakz are excellent dialouge writers.
I could take or leave the rap, as you had some good zingers and had some good vocabulary mixed in, but didn't capitalize on the opportunity to really rip your opponent a new a**hole. I just mentioned to Johnny Mason earlier that I'm a sucker for a variety of vocabulary, especially when it's mixed in. You did that in the rap pretty well, and it did elevate it as a whole.
I'm usually against dark mystery figures with no names, but I think the one you used was a necessary plot device to show Trey has some layers, or at least a backstory. How you follow up on that is important, because it will give you content down the road. We're always trying to set things up for later so we keep our characters fresh.
Pretty good outing for your first go around. Like I said man, I'm curious to see how much, if any time you got under your belt. Not so much for Trey the character, but you as the writer. You got some good building blocks to turn this character into a force.

Ok, so we got a lot of things here. I think from some of your previous work, this was a step in the right direction. I'm glad you took my advice on exploring the Mason/Watts dynamic, because I think there's plenty there. Here's a couple things I like that you're doing right now.
1. I think you may have stumbled onto something with your promos that could end up evolving into something special. It's hard to explain really, but it almost reads poetic without a deliberate rhyme scheme (basically free verse). I like it, because it was snappy and had some attempts at metaphors, which any of the vets will tell you is not as easy as it sounds. I think with time that'll become a key piece to your style because you'll learn how to expand it. It helps that you're using a variety of vocabulary, as I'm a sucker for that, as are most of the folks around here.
2. The dialouge is actually pretty good. You have clearly defined roles with Mason and Watts, and one character isn't completely dominating the talking points. That's a big struggle, even with vets, to balance it out so that both characters develop. You're already doing pretty good in that aspect, and think with your promo style and already having a handle on dialouge, those should be your focus as your round everything else out.
Now what you need to work on:
1. Pace. You and I talked about the structuring helping with that. But think about it like this, a character's career is a marathon, not a sprint. So slow down and start asking yourself what you're wanting to achieve in your scenes to aide in the bigger story. And that doesn't mean more content, but like @ballparkb0b said, marinate. Let the scene unfold naturally.
2. Grammatical. Not so much in misspellings and punctuation, but capitalizations. Vanguard Champion, not vanguard champion. See how just fixing that capitalization makes it automatically mean more. This is a representation of that character, so you want to take your time and put out your best foot.
Overall, this is a step in the right direction. I would've liked to see more credence to Destoryer in the promos, but I dig the overall style. And I think you have some solid foundations, but you gotta be patient with yourself.
Nice work man.

Should I know who you are? Because I don't. To Shawn: You've got something brown on your nose. However least place looks pretty clean cut right now. Nice graphics. Good sized roster. So kudos to those active participants, mods, and the brown noser. Mesh is probably the biggest zero to hero we've had here since Dean first showed up. So a long time. I may have a brown nose, but I have said nose while wearing a pink hat. Ok,so many nuggets here. Mesh, it's a good thing to know where the fed's been to know where, in your position, you want it to go. And the fact that you have physically gone back and combed through the archives shows that you've done your homework. I know when I first started talking to you, I advised you to do that. To me, in addition to much better understanding of characters and presentation, it's a show of respect to those who have put time in to make this what it is. Shawn: Brown nosing is fine when kept in moderation. I know Rev and Ace popping up in quick succession is a mark out moment, so I'm good with it. And yes, that was a long time ago when I first showed up. You're tempting me to go back through the old archives to read my really old stuff. I really don't want to laugh at how unpolished I was back then, because I'm two weeks removed from having my gallbladder taken out, and laughing hurts right now. Rev: Sup.

That's the best way to describe the Triple Crown Champion's extensive career. Initially bursting onto the WFWF scene in December 2006, Josh Dean quickly found his stride on the House Show circuit. He won 8 of his first 10 matches overall and established himself as a contender by dominating the 2007 edition of the now defunct New Breed Tournament, where he soundly defeated the likes of Reckless and the late Shawn Malakai to win the tournament. After being awarded a full time Felo-De-Se contract, Josh stepped into the deep end of WFWF's talent pool. Using his unique blend of explosive athleticism and a balanced array of techniques; he was able to gain an instant measure of success by defeating CBT for the International Championship in June 2007, just a few months after his 21st birthday. A soured contract negotiation shortly after brought a sudden end to Josh's tenure with WFWF. He dropped the International Championship to Thunder as part of his obligations, and a quick loss to Calvin Lee in the Survival of the Fittest Tournament marked his final appearance for nearly seven years.
April 24, 2014: Josh's absence from WFWF programming ended on the only stage big enough for "The Franchise", SuperBrawl. What the WFWF fan base saw that night in Sun Devil Stadium was a man who grew up, a far cry from the extremely talented and temperamental superstar from years past. After a competitive loss to David Brennan, Josh soon found himself in the cross hairs of old rival Phillip Schneider. Josh took issue with the gross lack of sportsmanship shown by the man formerly known as Obo, culminating in a brutal "I Respect You" match. The loss to his bitter rival signalled a turning point for the Atlanta native, reawakening a violent tenacity that was on full display in his Death Match victory over former friend Yukio Blaze in January 2015.
During the early stages of his return to WFWF, Josh found allies in the form of wife Nikki Dean, Dave Demento, Penny Shannon, and Cameron Stone. Together the quintet dubbed themselves the Saviors of Salvation, a unit that strived for fair competition. SOS's impact was multi-tiered in battles with The Final Revolution and the KoKaine Konspiracy; as Dave captured the International Championship, Nikki the National Championship, and Penny and Cam adding several high profile victories to the ledger. It's noted that many pundits consider Josh the leader of SOS, dubbing him "The Architect".
The Blaze victory kickstarted an incredible 2015 for Josh. He used that momentum to propell himself to championship gold once again, this time the Tag Team Titles at End Game in May where he and Dave defeated the KoKaine Konspiracy and Hollywood Unhinged 2.0. But injuries and personal turmoil ravaged the SOS ranks, forcing Josh to vacate the Tag Team Titles. But not to walk away empty handed, he traded the twin titles for a shot at the International Championship, showing an astute business acumen to go along with his in ring prowess. That later included a number one contender's slot at Dead Bodies are Buried Under the Sakura. At that August event, Josh became number one contender by defeating Samael Ahriman and Joe Bishop. Josh would later add the Tag Team Titles to his trophy case once again, offering his services to champion Drakz in advance of their World Title showdown. At Show Time in January 2016, Josh defeated Drakz to win the World Heavyweight Title, only for long time foil Trace Demon to attack him post match and call for an immediate rematch, where he lost the championship just minutes after winning it.
Josh spent the remainder of 2016 looking to regain the World Title, but the newly formed alliance of Trace Demon and Drakz provided constant roadblocks. A controversial Steel Cage loss to Trace Demon at Black Hole Sun in May, the loss of his and Drakz's Tag Team Titles after a 317 day reign, and a disappointing showing in the Elimination Chamber at SuperBrawl IX left "The Architect" without direction and a sour taste in his mouth. But after Drakz was forced to vacate the World Title due to injury, Josh found a second chance in the Supreme Gauntlet. In the second round, Josh suffered a separated shoulder and a devestating concussion that forced him to withdraw. It was his last appearance in WFWF until Survival of the Fittest, nearly three years later. On that night, he reemerged after the Winner Take All main event, attacking his longtime rival Drakz and leaving the building with both the International and World Heavyweight Championships. The two essentially picked up where they left off before their respective 2017 injuries with renewed disdain for each other. No one, including tables, mics, and Josh's 16 year old stepson, Drake, were safe from the battle. After months of intense physical and psychological war with "The God Slayer", Josh defeated Drakz in a No Disqualification match at SuperBrawl Revenge to regain the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship and simultaneously retiring his arch nemesis.
Josh has always embodied the archetype of talent meeting hard work. But now that he has returned to the WFWF fold one thing is certain, he isn't here to play games.
Personality: Outside the ring, Josh is a laid back and confident family man. He is also a focused, driven, and successful owner of a top notch sports management empire, Championship Connections. He has many scars, physically and mentally from his road of being a professional wrestler. He has become more humanized over the years due to these scars; relationships severed, loved ones lost all of which drive him to be the best of the best.
Entrance Music: "Venom" - Eminem
Entrance:
The lights go out.

Josh Dean strolls out onto the stage, staring at the crowd. His hood is over his head and he stops where the ramp meets the stage, smacking the ramp and throwing his hood off before exploding into his trademark spread arm pose as red and gold pyros shoot up toward the ceiling. When this whole thing starts clearing up, however long that will be, the absurd amounts of toilet paper people bought will be the punchline for so many jokes. Hell, most people are already starting to make them I'm sure. One dude was going around my local shopping center with a roll of toilet paper on a chain around his neck, that sh*t had me cracking up You can't make that up.

I'm working from home, which I was super into for two days until I realized every seating arrangement I have here in the long term f*cks my sciatica seven ways to Sunday. Then my kid's daycare shut down, so I have to somehow work around him with no assistance from my essential-services employed wife for three days a week. Tomorrow I'm supposed to have my first online PT appointment which is going to suck sh*t through a straw. Today we drove to Target to replenish our stock of food (one goes in, the other stays with the kid, because we're not assh*Les), and the guy who parked next to me came out ten minutes later with nothing but a 65" TV F*ck that guy and anybody like him. Yeah, someone was spending their tax money. I guess they figured they won't be going out much. But 65" is a bit overkill.

I guess there is one good thing about being back, and that's revamping my profile. Hey @ballparkb0b , is there any way we can move my old one from the archives and I can revamp as needed? I believe your old profile is in the Alumi thread. You could copy and paste it from there, post it and revamp it. I can do that for you if you'd like. Please and thank you.

This corona virus sh*t sucks, my uni classes have been paused indefinitely because two of the staff have been confirmed to have it, so im stuck at home with no new school work coming in or a PC that actually works lol It'd actually be much easier in my estimation to suspend college courses than it would be to do public schools. My guess is that your professors aren't assigning anything per say because they should've already given you a tentative schedule on their syllabus, including a reading list (that's provided they actually do their jobs properly, but that's another rant for another time). You may want to check if there's any supplemental reading you need to do so you can stay ahead.
