My new year's resolution is to get back into customizing again. As such, I started the year with this new addition, the Revolting Blob from Billy Madison!

I'm still actively searching for a few loose figures that I've never gotten, though I find myself having more fun with using these figures for parts to make new wrestlers. I loved the range of eras that the Classics line covered, but they couldn't make everybody.

Thank you Jables! I do love me some Jakks fodder, but shipping between the US and UK seems like you have to take out a second mortgage on your house! We're mailing action figures, not actual wrestlers, people! Thank you for the compliments as well Old Man Jones! I do spend a lot of time considering the right parts for the job. Dare I say, the concept stage is sometimes more fun than the actual work part! For my next work, this goes all the way back to my first custom post here on wfigs. My very first custom was a Jakks Shockmaster I converted into a Tugboat: Several years and many customs later, I began to rethink my first work. He was not just fat, he was DAYUM! on the Fluffy scale. Thanks Jakks. So, I've reimagined my first WWF custom that started it all:

I was finally able to create in figure form an amusing story mentioned by Kamala himself: "For this run-in, I was supposed to come back out with a trash can or a chair and nail Moondog Spot. However, I wanted a unique weapon; something big to leave an impact with a crowd that had become accustomed to seeing The Dogs use everything under the sun in some classic Memphis-style brawls. The dogs had just been destroying their opponents, issuing brutal chair-shots like I had never seen before. We are talking scary shots that left huge welts all over The Dogs' opponents. I knew a trash can or steel chair just wasn't going to cut it. During this tag match, I didn't tell anyone what I was up to. I struggled backstage right up until the last second to remove a fire door off its hinges. Just before my cue, I finally yanked off the last bolt by force and stormed down to ringside with a door in hand. As I made my appearance, I remember seeing everybody in the ring struggling to identify what I was holding. Once they knew what it was, Koko and Jerry cracked up hysterically at my choice of weapon. They thought it was the funniest thing in the world to see me slamming a door around, using it as a weapon on The Moondogs." (Kamala Speaks, page 206)

It's been a while since I last posted, but one of my most recent Jakks fixups was made successful using a Mattel ingredient. I was so excited when I saw the new Bam Bam head Mattel was producing, as this was the head I wanted on my Classic Superstars figure!

It's tough, because it comes right down to your reason for collecting. Having a great collection eventually loses its thrill if you don't have anybody to share your enthusiasm with. You can have stuff that you love, but stuff won't ever love you back. It sounds like your thrill is building a collection, even more than having one. A lot of folks on this board express their love for the thrill of the hunt. If you haven't got anything to hunt, the fire kind of goes out. It's always more exciting going after what you don't have, but once you get it...
I've felt like getting rid of figures at one time or another, due to lost interest, or a crappy home life at the time, or a general depressed state. Moods change. It's best to wait and sleep on it, see if you feel differently a week or two down the line. I haven't sold anything yet, but I'm lucky, my daughter likes to drag out her wrestler collection and invite my guys and gals from my collection to play.

For us lucky folks in Washington State, I think this started with the New Year. It sucks.

Every time I consider selling on ebay, I read stories like this, and even their "sell it fee free" offers lose their possible charm. Being scammed by some greasy pit stain in a basement somewhere like some of you other folks have been just makes me wish you could mail them out a fist to the face! There are some good facebook groups for wrestling figures of all vintages that are run by some very good admins, perhaps that's the place to take loose figs. Ebay has been great for me as a buyer, but I have never sold a thing there, and thanks to stories like these, don't plan to in the near future.

what heads have really wavey hair? looking to do a Jungle Boy custom. Jimmy Snuka looks like one who had that super wavy hair. Some of the heads on Edge from Jakks seem to have been pretty wavy, too.

Caveman Rocky is the only figure of which I am aware.

A fixup that I felt went well, using an existing lucha head and a Super Crazy body I had to spare.

These are so well done, and I'm even more excited that they're Jakks customs. There's just something I love about that classic Jakks bulk, so imposing! I really like that Hurricane, and the Cheeseburger figure is sweet! Keep up the good work, and the Jakks love!

Who's been changing oil all day? A-Train's been changing oil all day! He's workin' hard to make sure you don't spend more time than absolutely necessary at your Valvoline Instant Oil Change. Seriously, I shudder every time I see this figure. Jakks usually did a decent job with chest hair, but they went a little overboard here, I felt. Again, a subtle message from Jakks, where they include a trash can with this figure.

Perhaps it was Jakks' subtle way of saying "This figure is a piece of crap." Or you could re-mask this shameful figure with a bedpan, to help it hide its failure.

When I first saw Mattel's Kamala figure, I was impressed. The box art grabbed my attention, and the accessories looked top notch. Then, when I finally bought it and got it outta the box, I was totally blown away. This figure is still my favorite Mattel, his expression and details are just so perfectly captured. I got excited to see Steele when he was coming out, but was a lot less impressed when I saw the figure in person. For some reason, it just didn't seem as well done to me. So, I stuck with my Jakks Steele, and have that fine lookin' Kamala standing next to him.

Last night I took my brother out for his bachelor party to a local area promotion known as Prestige Wrestling. We had a lot of fun cheering and hollering, and the card featured the following:
Prestige Wrestling Championship Match "Filthy" Tom Lawlor (Champion) vs MV Young (Challenger) Singles MatchChavo Guerrero vs Ethan HD Hermiston Street Fight"The Devil Himself" Drexl vs Tyler Bateman Singles MatchBull James vs SCHAFF First Round - Prestige Wrestling Tag Team Championship Tournament MatchTeam C4 vs The Strays First Round - Prestige Wrestling Tag Team Championship Tournament MatchThe Voros Twins vs The Eh Team Singles MatchLeva Bates vs Bambi Hall Singles MatchMike Santiago vs Sonico Singles MatchSimon Grimm vs Julian Whyt
Others here may know some of these folks. Chavo is the only one I knew as a big name from WWE, but the others all gave 100% for this show just like he did. I'm a big fan of territory era wrestling, and I suspect this may be what a territory promotion must have been like during that time. Some local heroes, some good wrestlers from out of town, and some nasty heels. The crowd interaction was crucial, as it was only a few hundred fans, but they were dedicated, and were enjoying the matches. Anybody else here a Prestige fan? I know I just became one! I'll see if I can post some photos I took of the action a little later, too.
