I'd post some images of draft profiles but they are not hosted anywhere online, nor do I want them to be at this stage. Not sure how I can upload directly from my own computer.

Hi again forum. Work, that has to take precedence, drags me away for many months at a time and means I have to re-shuffle my writing schedule. But the clouds are parting and I'm looking to finish a project I have been working on for a number of years, based on the history of LJN Wrestling Superstars. (More on that to come when the time is right, i.e. when I am closer to finishing). So at this first stage - I'd love to hear your collecting stories from 1985 to 1989+ of when you were a youngster chasing your beloved favourite figures in stores across the land(s)!
We've had similar stories before, but again would not hurt at all!

I got most of my rarer loose Remcos in the late 90s trading Green Card Hasbros to the US (but I still don't have the rarest releases). Early series were around in Australia in the mid-late 80s and I picked up some of these loose in the mid-90s when searching for LJNs, including Road Warrior & Ellering, Freebirds, Flair, Hansen & Blackwell , Bockwinkel, Precious, Regal & Garvin and some others. I remember seeing 3-packs alongside the LJN tag teams around late 86 into 87 and noting the huge size differential on the shelves.

. I didn't even know he was officially in any series (though felt he should have been). I'll let him post the pics here if he chooses to, but you all can find 'em elsewhere if you search. It's amazing! The lead designer from the line did an interview with the Fully Poseable podcast guys last summer and said they had Killer Khan all but finished when WWF had him pulled from the line. So I knew it was probably out there sonewhere. I'm glad Matt Cardona did the legwork, made the right offer, and got a great looking piece to show off. Sadly, this guy from LJN and his team didn't work on those tail enders that didn't come out, so it's anybody's guess on if there even ever were protos of Smash, Brother Love, Bad News, etc. As far as I know no one has ever even identified who worked on those. Yep spot on. Bill mentioned that in the interview. I cannot find out who did the Series 6 figures either!

Hi Tito-Strikeforce was of course from the same master mould but not necessarily from the same production mould. The mould stamp year should still be 1986 - but is the Strikeforce figure a P1? (although other production mould codes might also exist) P1 was also used on 1986 Series 3 Hong Kong made purple Santanas and also probably had some production capacity left in it for the low production levels that were required for 1988. The 1988 release of course used a new paint master (white!) and so... does the figure have the correct Strikeforce paint decals?

Perhaps they could grade the WWF tug-o-war team that battled the WBF bodybuilders? Ah, yes, Vince's $15 million failure! If my memory serves me correctly I think The Berzerker said to Danny Padilla that he eats pills bigger than him!

Its worth the cost of 6 pieces of acrylic and some glue....£3? Has anyone still got any pics of when they graded Tito and Martel together as Strike Force? At least they WERE a team at some point... This can't be said about: Perhaps they could grade the WWF tug-o-war team that battled the WBF bodybuilders?

Don't mean to just be critical but Black card LJN re-release Bret Hart and Elizabeth do not exist. That image you have of Elizabeth is a custom and the card also has a butterfly hook which were only used for Series 1 and first wave series 2. (Wikipedia is not necesarily accurate!)

Hi people. I haven't been active on the forum for some time, so I was wondering, do we still have the same passionate group of LJN afficiniados as a few years ago?

Hi guys. Many of you have seen that great Youtube vid of the young guy opening his LJNs at Christmas 1989.
So in an extension from the previous thread about LJN collector stories I am hoping that some of you would post in answer to these questions.
My LJN Christmas Which Christmas year was it? (You can add you age at the time but if you were like 37 it might seem a little strange...although nowadays it wouldn't be so!)
What were you hoping to get? (You know a kid's hope!)
What were you expecting to get? (Based on realities of what your family could afford to get you.)
What did you actually get? And were you happy, relieved, excited, surprised and so on.
I reckon the grandparents might feature strongly with the good stuff!
And any stories about hoping for an Ultimate Warrior and instead getting an Outback Jack would be welcome!
Look forward to reading the stories and hoping we can cover 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 and even 1990!

Thanks for this Ozz. I've got some components on the way now from the UK to give the Loose LJNs more room to breathe in their Detolf!

I became a huge wrestling fan as a kid around 1984-85, corresponding with the whole Hogan-Piper-Mr. T-Cyndi Lauper era. So when LJNs came out, they immediately became pretty much the only toy I wanted. I got Hulk Hogan for Christmas the winter the original five came out. Remember at the time, there was no internet, and therefore no fast/instant way of knowing when new waves came out, or if there even WAS another wave coming out. A lot of the time, I'd only become aware of a new series (or related LJN products) when I saw them in the store, and then looked at the card back to see what other wrestlers were in the latest series. This happened to me with the 2nd series. I spotted a peg of Roddy Piper figures at my local Ames and freaked out, because I didn't know it existed. Mom bought it for me. That also happened with the series that had Ken Patera and Jake Roberts. Didn't know either guy was getting a figure until I saw it hanging on a peg in Toys R Us, and was lucky enough to be able to pick them up. I remember we had difficulty finding the Sling 'Em Fling 'Em Ring in stores, so eventually my parents let me order it from the WWF Magazine catalog as a birthday gift. I checked the mail EVERY DAY waiting for that thing. Longest 4-to-6 weeks of my young life (no Amazon Prime or online ordering back then, either... mail orders took forever to arrive). Before that, I was making due with the AWA Remco ring & cage, which was way too small for LJNs, but better than nothing. (I had a decent-sized Remco collection too, but LJNs were my main deal.) My local stores were always well stocked on the Bendies and Thumb Wrestlers. I went through a Bendies phase and actually collected enough of them that I cashed in on the proof-of-purchase deal for the WWF Championship Belt Buckle, which I wore proudly as a kid. Wish I still had the buckle, actually. No idea what became of it. The tag team sets were easy to find, too, but only certain sets. I recall seeing Hogan & Hillbilly, Sheik & Volkoff, Valentine & Beefcake, and the occasional Killer Bees sets on shelves. Never once saw the Bulldogs, Strike Force or Hart Foundation in stores. Oddly, the only store I ever saw the giant-sized figures in was a small-town hardware store, which randomly had a Roddy Piper for sale. Stretch Wrestlers were a disappointment. I got Paul Orndorff as a Christmas gift from a family member. AS SOON as I began playing with it, it broke open along one of the grooves and this powdery substance started leaking everywhere. It was almost immediately useless. In the next few months, I got a couple more (a replacement Orndorff and a Ricky Steamboat) but I was so nervous about breaking them that I barely ever took them out of the box. Fantastic detail Johnny Lawrence. Someone who cashed in the Bendy proofs, had the stretch's (but couldn't actually stretch them) and a true description of how time could move soooooooo slow for a kid!, when waiting for something. Bit different to now!

I use BlueTak for the LJNs to help them stand. Not sure of the equivalent in the States? Probably BlueTak!

Being born in 1984, the year LJNs came out, you can say i got into it late...but i have a brother that was born in 1978 so we were right into it. My first LJN memory is from Christmas 1987 when my parents got my brother the Hart Foundation 2 pack and Jimmy Hart and got me the British Bulldogs 2 pack and Capt. Lou Albano...after that i remember that I would always get at least one for my birthday and one for Christmas up until about 1991 (yes i know they stopped in 1989).... my brother wasnt getting them nearly as much as me and i remember that he ALWAYS got the heel figures.. in the end, we ended up having around 40 or so of the figures with the ring and the cage.. with myself having about double the amount that he had...the main stores here in Canada that we would go to go get LJN figures was the local Woolco and Consumers Distributing. There was no Toys r Us too close to us, and by the time the closest one opened, i believe it was already 1990-1991 and it was also about a 15 minute drive away...same with Zellers...there was no Zellers within 20 minutes so we never went there.. funny thing is tho, i was still playing with my LJNs long after Hasbros came out and even after Hasbros were finished in 1994. The only Hasbros I got as a kid seem to be from Series 1 and 2 only....maybe my parents didnt want to buy me any figured after 1991 lol... Good to hear from Canada and kids who had the actual tag teams sets! Hasbros seem to be the real retro go on this forum but there is nothing like the LJNs from the true "Golden Age" where wrestling was bigger than anything for many kids!
