Hey Steve,
The first retro bundle sold out much faster than bundle 2 as bundle 2 is still available even though it would seem bundle 2 would have more demand because of the wrestlers involved. Did you guys increase the volume made of the second bundle or are sales down?

Hey Steve. At what event might we expect to see the final 2 retros in series 3? Thank you.

I think we have to accept Retros for what they are: a budget line. It is unlikely we will get any new molds or action features anytime soon. I believe that some of what we have seen was already in the pipeline before Mattel pulled the plug the first time. Mr. T’s action was supposed to be Cesaro’s (if I’m not mistaken) and Steve had said at one point that there was a non wrestler planned. That non wrestler was likely either Mean Gene or Jimmy Hart. My memory isn’t always the best so forgive me if any of those details are off. I just don’t buy this. I’m not sure what ‘budget’ means but there’s no excuse for putting out product in 2022 that isn’t as good as product 30 years ago. By budget he means low cost. They are basically just swapping heads onto whatever body molds they already have and repainting them. While the love for the Retro line is strong, they must have data that shows the number of buyers isnt that large. Those who love them, like myself, love them and will buy everyone but overall it appears they arent brining in enough revenue to warrant more detailed tooling, molding and body designs. Im sure Mr. T and Mean Gene will be the only 2 new body designs we see anytime soon. I do wish they did a better job selecting which body types to use on certain figures. Anvil and JYD were not thin guys so im not sure why they selected the thinnest mold for them. The kick/Elias body is also a smaller mold but they use it on bigger wrestlers. I do hope they stop using the kick as much and use that upper body the same way they used it on Elias and get more figures with that action.

Hey Steve. If Retros do well can you see an uptick in waves per year from 2 to 4?

Hey Steve. Very excited to see the new retros! Was alittle bummed to see only 2 new figures. Whens the next date we can look forward to possibly getting a sneak peak at series 12?

So….I’m wondering whether Mattel are gonna drop the action features with the relaunch of the retros. There’s been mentions of making it more sustainable etc…I imagine scrapping the actions would make it more cost effective. And I’ve noticed a question in the Ask ActionFigureAttack thread about Mean Gene having an action hasn’t been answered…just got me thinking. What would people’s thoughts be if that were the case? I think the action is one of the main feature that separates Retros from customs and the other companies that make “retro” figures. The actions must stay.

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping the Retros alive Steve. I always had a feeling they’d be back one day, especially when you guys brought the Legends like back after 10 years . I loved the first 10 waves and know you’ll knock it out of the park with the next 10 lol. Selfishly , I’d love to see some more of the Hasbro mega stars get into the line this time (Hogan, Andre, Bret hint hint I think it goes without saying you’ll see that type of Legend appear in time. They’re the A-listers/anchors of Legends. While Bret, Andre and Hogan are without question A List Legends, do you guys consider that fact that we already have these legends in Retro form therefore might focus attention on other legends not yet in Retro form?

Does anyone else have a feeling that these are going to be online only exclusives? They might as well be if things are like they were before. Series were available at Ringside months before they were ever in stores. By the time they were in stores 90% of the customers who wanted the series already had them.

So what do we think might be a realistic series 11? Assuming they stick with an even split of legends/ current, and wishfully thinking they’ll go to 6 per series, I think maybe something like: Rowdy Roddy Piper Mean Gene Okerlund Hulk Hogan (has recent figures & a big name) Drew McIntyre The Fiend Bobby Lashley (Or Charlotte, if they decide to go 1 female per series). What do you reckon? This is actually a great looking line up. I know most, myself included, are much more interested in old school wrestlers but if Mattel feels that they need to continue to sprinkle in current wrestlers into the Retro line, those 4 are good choices. I do tend to think that if they are going to continue with current wrestlers, they will lean towards having more older wrestlers so maybe only 2 of these 4 would be in series 11 with 1 more classic wrestler added instead. If they go back to 6 per series, id like to see 2 current wrestlers, 2 attitude era/WCW and 2 golden era per wave. I think attitude era and WCW has the most options to choose from where as Hasbro covered most of the golden era. I hope Mattel doesnt continue to remake wrestlers Hasbro already made. Piper is going to be the 7th remake of a Hasbro figure to date even though having a few Flair was very cool and so is having a ring gear Piper but id much rather have a new wrestler all together than a remake with different attire.

Quick general Retro question. Does Mattel factor in which wrestlers were already in the Hasbro line when deciding which wrestlers to add to the Retro line? Even if its as little as breaking a tie breaker when deciding between 2 wrestlers and going with the one Hasbro didnt make vs one they already have.

Hey Steve. So we were told that Retros would return when the time was right. Well here we are! Can you explain as much as your allowed to do so what makes now the right time? Bill said the "nut" was cracked and was just wondering what hurdles you guys were able to overcome that allowed Retros to return. I think this would help collectors understand what is going to be different this time around and what to expect in the future. Thank you!

Steve Happy New Year. If Retros ever return, what type of retail format do you think would make the most sense? Would it be on a smaller scale than prior which may lend itself to being an exclusive for one of the main retailors or would it be similar to what it was before? Thank you!

In defense of Retro fans, everyone's saying we complained about them a lot. First off, to an extent I think we had a right to. Especially after series 1 and 2 our hopes and expectations were extremely high, and for good reason. Second, I'm pretty sure that there were way more hopes and wants, aka wish lists and "I wish they made xx instead of xx" more than there were complaints. people complained about series 2 also. Many were angry about Sting and HHH being jumpers, Kane not having a belt and Mankind not having sleeves.

The rumor is the Usos, JJ, Steamboat, The Miz, Rusev, Kalisto, Mysterio for series 11 and 12. Should be confirmed at SDCC.

Hey I’m a fellow Canadian from Alberta. I had a nice surprise today with a random stop at Toys R Us For what seems like forever all they’ve had in stock has been the retro series 3. But today they actually had series 9 on the shelf. This is the first time I’ve seen anything other than series 3 on shelf which was awesome. Series 4 through 8 would be great too but beggars can’t be choosers. I just had to snap a pic of the three new additions along side my custom Goldust (who I way prefer to the official one) to share What’s with your Goldust??

I'll tell you that last December, during the whole Five Below rush, I found 2 Savage's and 2 of each of the New Day...and a third of Kofi or Xavier cant remember. I saw ONE Big E at one of our Chicago burb Targets last fall. That was it. I find it absolutely baffling that Mattel wont have these in so many stores at regular price, only for months later having them at liquidation prices at basically a dollar store. Real head scratcher and money burning on them. I just think they shipped WAY too many of S3 to stores, and by the time they finally cleared out they were shipping Series 7. I saw a handful of S4 (but no Flair) and one box of S5 at one Target, but that was it. Never saw S6 at retail or 8 or 9 yet. Yea series 3 really messed everything up. It was the first non Walmart exclusive so they were available everywhere, except Walmart, and stores overstocked them for sure. Not to mention it was not a great series and I think 8 months went by between series 3 and 4. I still see series 3 at Target. Crazy.

The Smash's are different I tell you! lol. The red in the face paint is darker on the singles release and lighter/brighter on the 2-pack release. I know noticed this when I was younger on my originals I had as a kid, and I can still see the difference today. Not anything someone will notice without close inspection, but I'm a psychopath about that stuff. I would also need 2 Smashes to display both with Ax, and then to display with Smash. Though you could display S1 in order and end with Demolition, start S2 w/ the tag teams and demolition. I know my Smash#1 also has darker red face paint. How consistent that is...who knows, specially since theres no way to tell which is which once they are opened unless you opened them yourself. I guess we could get close ups from MOC images but thats asking alot to see through plastic and lighting to identify this.

im very surprised to see 16 wrestlers on this poll that already has an original Hasbro figure or a Retro already. I know some listed are of the wrestlers alternate characters but i know personally id rather have a Haku Retro than another Million Dollar Man, Perfect, Bret and so on. Not everyone collected the original Hasbro figures though (...I didn't - and a lot of people who are collecting these Retros probably didn't either). So I'd much rather see figures like Perfect and (especially) Bret in the line over guys like Haku, that are only really appealing to Hasbro collectors. [ I understand. Before Retros I only collected Hasbro. While a retro diesel isn’t a Hasbro Diesel, it fills the need and is satisfying for me. You as someone who didn’t collect Hasbros, would adding a Bret Hasbro to your retro collection fill your need in the same way?

I'm somewhat nervous about the future of the line. But lets just hope they are working on all new stuff, new molds and maybe even tag teams. there has been a retro figure on Ringside’s best sellers list each week for some time now. I think the line is doing well.
