END of Part 20:
Aftermath: Rick Rude regains the WWF Championship at The Main Event VI. He faces a heel Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam '91 only to get squashed by the Hulkster. This brings in Ric Flair who becomes the top babyface instead of a heel, facing a heel Hulk at Wrestlemania 8 and winning the title. Rude left after SummerSlam 91 for WCW after a pay dispute.

I remember Orndorff was saying he had neck problems so it would've been very difficult for him to make it but assuming he was okay, that's a tough one since the card was damn solid there weren't that many option for him. I mean maybe if they turned him babyface because he gets angry that Andre replaced him okay he can face Outlaw Ron Bass as an example. As a heel maybe Corporal Kirshener or Lanny Poffo though not sure anyone would be interested in that.
If we had to replace someone in a match maybe JYD so that Harley Race can work with someone else? Not sure I would have to think about that lol. Or perhaps just add him in the Bundy match.

Does anyone know why he didn't even go? Was he just too costly or did he have problems with some of the people in the back?

Dude needed to buy a house plain and simple, that's all it was. He needed more money to buy it. Wish he didn't have to write that letter. I'm sure Warrior could've discussed it with Vince that he was unhappy. Hogan was good at least from my understanding of telling Vince "this cheque doesn't look right brother" when he had a problem with money. I think the big thing was the way he went about it....Im pretty sure Vince would have hashed something out with him. Numbers were down in 1991. I dont think Vince would have wanted to lose one of his top guys. That's exactly it, Warrior was one of those guys who could call Vince at 3am in the morning if he wanted too and Vince even considered him a close friend at the time. Warrior instead chose to be an a-hole about everything and ranted away in a letter. I wonder though if Warrior heard about Hulk's pay off and that contributed to his anger? Hogan is well known to lie and exaggerate about how much he made I mean he told Bundy that he made $1 million at Wrestlemania 1 (lol no way that's possible).

Sting was one of those thought of and Hogan was still hesitant the last minute. All it took was for someone to convince Hulk that it was a bad idea and he wouldn't have done it.
I would've loved the idea of Sting turning heel and joining the nWo. Would've been something and probably would've been a good run for him too as the top heel in WCW.

Seen this before and loved how Randy was in the ring as much as he despised Hulk, it's proof enough he didn't knock out Hulk.

Hands down the legend killer, should've always kept that gimmick. The viper became boring, I couldn't stand it.
Legend Killer Orton should've been the one to break Taker's streak in a second confrontation, o well.

That's an interesting point but since he was a mid-carder in the WWF I don't think there was a program for him to face a giant especially with his style. Still I'm surprised that Kamala and Steamboat didn't face off, I'm sure they couldn't worked that one out. As a side note Steamboat faced Ernie Ladd in July of '79 to defend his NWA TV title.
Best of the WWF #12 (WF041) 06/27/87 Ricky Steamboat vs. Kamala
For it did happen! Kamala was victorious too because I remember watching that Coliseum Video.

What the heck is this lol I would love the original 1988 Winged Eagle with the extra strap that Savage added on it himself. Extra strap? Any pictures of it? From what I recall because his waist was much thinner than Hulk's he had to add on it so the belt he wore shortly after WM4 is the one with the add on (I think it was designed for Dibiase in mind, it fit him fine since he was supposed to win at WM4?)

Prime Time Wrestling March 26th, 1991 SPECIAL: Wrestlemania VII Party Edition Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas Hosts: Vince McMahon and Bobby Heenan
Vince says he's shocked at the actions of Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VII and why he would betray Rick Rude (they try to downplay Hogan "betraying America"). Vince announces The Main Event VI (instead of SNME) for April 15th where he personally will be interviewing Hulk Hogan to find out what happened. During the show Macho Man and Elizabeth who reunited at Wrestlemania have a slow dance, after the dance Macho Man says he wants to slap Hogan right across the face and that Rude is the real WWF Champion. Vince reminds everyone that Rude walked out of the arena looking for Hogan but also left with the WWF Championship belt. Vince says that Slaughter had this to say: "I won the WWF Championship fair and square, I was supposed to fly to Baghdad tonight to hand over the WWF Championship belt, the greatest prize in America to Saddam, but instead Rick Rude, like all the puny and weak Americans proved himself to be a sore loser, the sorest of them all! So I'm petitioning Jack Tunney to hand over the WWF Championship belt to me because it belongs to me!" Jack Tunney's response promo:"It has come to my attention that Ravishing Rick Rude left the LA Memorial arena with the WWF Championship belt. Based on WWF rules and regulations, and since Sgt. Slaughter did in fact win the match at Wrestlemania VII, Rick Rude will have to hand over the WWF Championship belt or face suspension." Rick Rude response promo:"(has the WWF title with him) There is no way in the deepest darkest places of hell am I going to hand over the WWF Championship belt. You'll have to throw me in the desert, break my bones, make me bleed, burn me at the stake, or tear me into smithereens because there is no way I'm going to hand over this belt to that good for nothing Sgt. Slaughter who did not win fair and square so I'm demanding you Jack Tunney to take action, you saw the video tapes, you saw how he used brass knuckles in the ring to cheat his way, you saw how I NEVER SUBMITTED and as for you Hulk Hogan if you think I forgot what you did, just remember I'm coming for you. One way or another, you're toast." Later in the show Jack Tunney makes an announcement:"After careful consideration and in talks with WWF Officials, we have two announcements to make. The first is that let it be known on record that Sgt. Slaughter did in fact win the WWF Championship at Wrestlemania. However, we have decided that because of what transpired that night and how the match took place, at The Main Event VI, live on NBC on April 15th, Rick Rude will take on Sgt. Slaughter in a Steel Cage match to determine who is the true WWF Champion. Thank you". Sgt. Slaughter promo:
"(after Adnan speaks Arabic) How dare you Jack Tunney, I made a demand that I should take the WWF Championship belt, I made a promise to Saddam and that promise will be kept! It belongs to me you said I am the champion! I am the winner! So this is what America is about? You want to put me in a steel cage match? It won't stop me mark my words I will have that belt and I will hand it over to Saddam!"

Slaughter brings Rude to the centre of the ring even though Rude won't give up he finally drags his body near another rope and Hulk ONCE AGAIN STOPS HIM from grabbing it! The ref tells Hulk to stop and Hulk is on the apron arguing with him. Slaughter drops Rude and grabs a brass knuckle from his tights and pounds on Rude! Rude is bleeding and once again Slaughter locks in the camel clutch! Rude is done for and he can't respond anymore the ref calls the bell. Winner: Sgt. Slaughter via submission to become the NEW WWF Champion. Hulk walks to the back with a smirk as the fans get pissed off, Heenan shouts out that Hulk Hogan betrayed America and stabbed it right in the back. Some fans even tried to escape the railings to attack Hulk. Slaughter celebrates in the ring and it looks almost like a riot. Rude is crawling into a corner. Slaughter is handed the WWF Championship belt. Rude is up and is in shock as to what has happened. Slaughter laughs in Rude's face Rude snaps and knocks down Slaughter. Rude lands a Rude Awakening! The fans cheer on. Rude grabs the Iraqi flag and tears it apart and chokes out Slaughter who collapses. Rude grabs the WWF Championship belt and TAKES IT WITH HIM! Rude shouts out for Hulk Hogan with blood dripping down for the PPV to go off air.

Live with Regis and Kathie Lee March 18th, 1991 Regis: We got a special guest coming in from the World Wrestling Federation, and this upcoming Wrestlemania on March 24th, is going to be a big one. Kathie: You're going to be at that show aren't you? Regis: That's right I will be there and be there at the main event that night between the nasty turncoat Sgt. Slaughter who is challenging for the WWF Heavyweight Championship against a one Rick Rude and I'm sure you remember him there Kathie? Kathie: O you bet! Regis: The last time he was here he showed you a Rude Awakening well let's bring him out welcome back Rick Rude! Rude: (is out) It's great to be here. Regis: This is wonderful (grabs the WWF title) wow so this is what it's all about isn't it, the last time we saw you you were well a bad guy and now you're a good guy defending America from this turncoat... Rude: Bad, good what does it matter when the honour of your country is at stake (crowd cheers), you see...I notice Kathie giving me that stare I know that look, I think you need to call up Frank there (her husband)... Kathie: I think he understands I can look all I want... Regis: Now do tell us about your match. Rude: Well put it this way, Sgt. Slaughter who was once a hero, (stares at the camera) a man who claims to have served his country has decided to betray America. He decided that America was weak, that Saddam was someone to follow, well let me tell you something there Sarge, at Wrestlemania VII, it'll be the last time you insult this great country of ours. Regis: Well let's take a look at what has been going on run that footage... (Highlights show of Slaughter's promos, Slaughter destroying Hulk Hogan, beating Warrior, and a recent match against Jim Duggan Slaughter had beaten clean. Slaughter cuts a promo that was shown recently about Rude being the scum of America and Slaughter burned a Rick Rude shirt that he stole from the crowd)Regis: What a competitor. Rude: I'm not worried about him, he can try to play dirty, but I can too... Prime Time Wrestling February 25th, 1991 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Bobby Heenan
Vince calls out Rick Rude to the live audience format of the show. Bobby Heenan runs up the stairs in the audience and hides behind an old lady. Vince: Rick we are just weeks away from what could be your biggest title defense yet. Rude: Well Sgt. Slaughter, choke down on that last Hershey bar, grow that beer belly of yours, because at Wrestlemania VII, it'll be time to do battle, no it's time to end this war. You see you forget who you're dealing with, you forget I am the most finely tuned athlete in the world, I've the strength and stamina, and such an endurance that after a long night of passion with a beautiful woman she'll be begging on her knees to never let me go. Vince: O ya! (Vince gets excited) Talking about Sgt. Slaughter keep in mind that he has a one General Adnan in his corner. Rude: I'm not worried about him, I know what he's capable of and we've seen it before. But that's the thing that makes you weak Sgt. Slaughter, because Adnan's a lot of weight you gotta carry on your back day in and day out, and I feel more free than ever of getting rid of that Weasel Bobby Heenan. Heenan: (stands in the crowd) Who are you calling Weasel? Rude: (laughs) Why don't you get down here and we'll have a talk (Heenan hides behind another guest) What did I say, now that the Weasal is out of my way, after Wrestlemania VII, when it's all set and done, Sgt. Slaughter you'll know the true meaning of survival of the fittest.

Prime Time Wrestling February 18th, 1991 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Bobby HeenanPrime Time has gone through the new format in front of a live studio audience, killing the legendary Prime Time format (which was far superior in every way). Vince calls out Sgt. Slaughter with General Adnan. Vince: Slaughter, we are over a month away from Wrestlemania VII. Rick Rude has accepted your challenge for the WWF Championship, how will you take on such a tough competitor... Slaughter: (laughs) Rude is a nobody (Heenan rejoices), I destroyed Hulk Hogan, I defeated the Ultimate Warrior, there is no one who can stop me. Just like there is no one to stop Saddam (get a lot of heat). Look even Bobby Heenan agrees with me... Vince: I disagree with you Slaughter you have to admit, Rick Rude won the WWF Championship from the Ultimate Warrior, defeated Roddy Piper fair and square, pinned the Macho King... Heenan: You're mistaken Vince, Rick Rude is weaker than ever. There is only one reason why he achieved much in such a short period of time because I was his manager. It was all me! Slaughter: That's right without the Brain, all Rude has is muscle and at Wrestlemania VII I will squeeze the life out of him, lock him up in the camel clutch, and take the WWF Championship belt to Iraq where it will be handed over to Saddam himself! Vince: So you will relinquish the WWF Championship? Slaughter: It will send a message to the whole world not to mess with someone like me and Saddam and that's an order!
