Yeah, it's a shame they didn't add the dry brushing to Hall's jean vest. They improved that figure so much by changing to the jean boots and giving him the alt ponytail head. It's cool to finally get that Hall in action figure form either way. I'm thinking Austin basically being a Defining Moments figure ate up a lot of the budget.

In certain photos, yes. He was a bodybuilder who was no stranger to a little bronzer. I fully agree he is too dark, it just doesn't bother me much.

Mine arrived today. I took a picture without flash in comparison to the TNFT tan Hogan (& Rocky): I really like this figure. The tan could stand to be a smidge lighter, but I think it adds a lot to the presentation of the figure and the vibrant colors he has.

They might have finally nailed Ron Simmons skin tone And they gave it to a white guy from Indiana I didn't want to say that in PJ's loose pics thread and derail anything, but my first thoughts were "Damn, that's a good skintone for Faarooq..."

These are always fun to see, thanks!
While I definitely don't think Rick & Mr. America belong so high with the body types they were given, I am very happy to see UE Seth get the overall top vote. That figure is SO GOOD. A modern guy getting the top spot illustrates how good it is when the bias leans heavily on nostalgia normally. I went out of my way to get it and paid about a $12 premium, and it was 100% worth it.
RR Vader is really good, so I'm glad to see him get some recognition with that awesome new molded mask sculpt & custom hands. I remember around this time last year going out and getting the RAW 3-pack at Target. I was thrilled to find it right on release...hopefully that'll ring true for that new tan Ultimate Warrior soon.
Of all people, Johnny Knoxville might be my fav Elite from last year. They did an excellent job in his unique molds and likeness. Legends-wise, Kama & D'lo in the late '97 Nation gear were dream figures for me. I have literally been asking for these on this very forum for nearly 20 years (can you believe how old Classic Superstars is now!?). It was like getting modern 2 TUFF figures.

I love that Logan gear, blue & yellow look so good together, I just wish the vest was molded to better reflect the sleek look it has IRL. The Prime bottle is a really awesome inclusion! I could see different flavor bottles coming with all his Elite+ figures going forward. Hopefully it won't be *too hard* to find since it is Top Picks, but at least the back-order is only for next month.

I know, but I mean an actual BCA with the rubber limbs and no weird switches on the back. I skipped it as a kid hoping they'd do him normally and it never happened.

It's crazy to me that Taka was there for years (from 1997 up until 2002 somehow), but they only ever did that Slammers figure and the Bend 'Em. He was very over in '97 and when Kai En Tai were doing the 'INDEED' translation shtick later in his run, so it's a bit puzzling to me how he didn't get an actual BCA or TTL figure. He's definitely one of those guys that would be a great fresh addition to the Mattel line-up.
As far as the C-shows go, I've always wanted Too Much Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor figures. The highlighter orange or yellow would be low deco enough to where I think they could probably do them as Too Cool with the baggy outfits as soft goods with that gear underneath. Only issue with that is Scotty 2 Hotty had the heavily spiked hair, but now that they're doing hair piece accessories, maybe it could be done that way. If they wanted to just do them as Too Much only, there is a VERY cool attire they wore once on PPV that was like this purple/blue Lissa Frank lookin' gear that would be awesome to get. Otherwise, their more simple Shotgun Saturday Night look would suffice for a 2-in-1.

Ali is the aforementioned missing figure from L22. Looks cool in boxing gear. Captain Lou with the soft goods shirt and that vest is a great first time Elite. The Sultan has nice accessories but in a rare Jakks-like move, the gold deco from the original prototypes shown was removed from the singlet. Still looks good with all those unique parts, but it's a slight blow to an otherwise solid figure.
Yokozuna's arms are way too skinny. I'm glad they did him in Ultimate, but I'll stick with my E15 figure even though this is technically better (especially the heads). The main Ultimate I'm looking forward to is that upcoming tan Warrior. That thing is perfection!

I like how they handled the Superman logo on Steiner. It's much better to create a lookalike shape than to just leave it off entirely.

^Def '97 Bearer.
I would grade this at like a low B or so. I always enjoy seeing the new stuff and sneak peaks, and even though many things weren't ready to show, I enjoyed what I did see. That Outsiders set is cool, the Dude Love improvement and full box reveal, that UE Cody being everything I've been waiting for (I'm holding off for that one), Asuka's sick robe, etc. It definitely felt like this was a less major show, but I appreciate seeing the Mattel team talk about their process and upcoming stuff. What I'm most excited about is what is to come with tag teams. The Dudleys, The Headbangers, The Steiners...we're very likely getting those guys, and that is going to be an awesome set of reveals at the next big event (if they don't leak out first).

There's still a mystery figure in Legends 22, right? The one with The Sultan? That combined with the 'coming soon' nature of the announcement makes me wonder if we'll see it there. I hope it's Buddy Rogers.

That Asuka robe is unreal. Seeing that '97 Paul Bearer in-hand has only made me want it more.
Definitely some good stuff coming out soon, and now I'm curious who we can pair with Bruno that is on the horizon...they already did Larry Z, so maybe Buddy Rogers? It would make a lot of sense to try and get the very first 'WWE' Champion in the line. Put a sticker on the box or something so people know the significance.

I want to highlight how much Mattel improved Dude Love.
First is the released Elite from years ago: I like this figure more than some people do, it has a lot of colorful deco, but it is clearly missing blue in the headband and claw. Also, the tye dye attempt leaves so much extra blue and doesn't look quite right. Moving onto the present day figure... Here is the prototype sample of 3 Faces of Foley from SDCC '23 from earlier this year: The improvement to the headband and the mandible claw looks great, but I honestly think the shirt looks awful. There's so much yellow, the Dude Love logo is blurry and awkwardly small, and the shirt cut looks scrawny. I was so disappointed in this prototype. Here is what the final product will look like as revealed today at Ringside Fest: What an improvement! The logo is nice and big, it looks like a higher-quality print, there's more shades of blue and less yellow in the tye dye, the shirt looks fuller, and all the improvements to the claw and headband from SDCC remained intact! Well done, Mattel! This is the best Dude Love figure ever by any company. I'm happy with my original Ringside Cactus and the Amazon Mankind, but this Dude is a definite purchase now with all these improvements.

Oh man, the Foley 3-pack packaging looks great; 3 individual boxes within one. Foley seems so genuinely pleased by this choice. EDIT: Shirt on Dude looks improved from the last sample, too!
