Welp may as well go back to watching something else. Ravens D can't stop the Chiefs (given up every third down conversion so far), Lamar looks shaky and the Chiefs are about to go up two scores. Bye Ravens.

Man... I have to be honest, because of the Rock, my initial thought is they want Cody to lose again at Mania. And I think people are going to be so pissed if that happens. It's not hard to imagine. If they want Rock vs Reigns at SummerSlam, you're not taking the title off Reigns. If they want Reigns to pass the Hogan record, because when are they ever going to get this close with someone ever again, they're not taking the title off of Reigns. You can give Cody MITB. BUT I think that's a mistake for Cody's character. Even though that would be redemption for Cody since they gave his MITB win to Damien Sandow, for some unGodly reason. This is all so conflicting. Listen, if Rock never opens his mouth, if Rock never challenges Roman, none of this is an issue. Cody wins the Rumble, Punk wins the EC, they main event Night 1 and 2, and we're all ignorantly happy. But because the Rock challenged Roman, we're all kind of wondering how the hell that factors into this situation. That's unfair to Cody. It's super unfair to Cody. So for his sake, I hope it's all straight forward from here through Mania. Punk vs Rollins night 1. Cody vs Reigns night 2, and Cody wins. We all get to move forward. Then they can do Rock vs Reigns without the title and Rock has all this ammunition because Reigns doesn't get to brag about being champion. Plus, they're both part time and it puts them under no pressure to pin down SummerSlam or Mania or Saudi, whenever, to do that match. I'm just not sure how much of that is wishful thinking vs reality, though. Because ultimately, Reigns vs Rock is THE big money match, and they're going to do it if they have it, which is the part of me that thinks Reigns keeps going at Mania. I might be in the minority but the bigger match to me is Rock/Roman without the title. Fully opens up possibility for an 'anyone can win' situation. Otherwise as you said the whole thing seems counter-intuitive. Cody's momentum is killed, we're stuck with an even longer boring title run with Roman, and Rock still isnt going to beat Roman for the title so whats the point? Surely we're not doing this JUST to kill Hogans title run. So everyone needs to be smart. Roman is part time, Rock is non existant. Cody (whether people like it or not) is going to carry the company for years to come.

If thats the honest truth, Dom eliminating Brock would have certainly been something.

Took the night to sleep on it but all in all I think someone put it best that this was a very "safe" event from WWE.
Nothing really grabbed.
The Womens Rumble was pretty bad from the start. The first two-thirds was an absolute chore to sit through. Super sloppy spots from the rookie club (Maxinne/Ivy/etc...) Didnt really get interesting until Jade showed up. Shows how much of a star she can potentially be. Jade/Bayley Winning are easily the best parts of the match. (5/10)
The Universal Title match was a snooze. Never felt like it got going. Only real "OMG" moment was when it looked like Orton might actually take the title. Of course this was overshadowed within 3 seconds as we realized it was the same 'ol booking yet again where Solo saves Roman. (Never seen that before). All 4 guys left looking worse than they did when the event started IMO. Roman got no offense yet still never looked in danger of losing the title. (2/10)
KO/Logan was probably the match of the night for me although through no fault of their own, the crowd was completely dead from the first two painful matches. DQ finish kinda stunk but made sense and it was a decent way to protect Logan. I wish they'd get rid of whoever that clown from the podcast was with security. Coulda just had Theory and Waller interfere and it would have flowed much better. (6/10)
Men's rumble also never really grabbed. I have no issue with the "no legends" situation. I'd much rather have Bron in there wrecking people than having guys like Hulk Hogan who can barely walk let alone go over the top rope. It felt like another rumble that felt disjointed. Jey/Jimmy should have been a good story but ended pretty much when Waller entered at 3. The McAfee spot was dumb. Ricochet was just in there to take a bump from Drew. Guys like Miz, Kofi, Theory had no purpose in the match. Punk looked like he was moving at half speed. Only good spots were Bron, Cody winning, and Andrade returning. (5/10)
Overall I give the event a 4/10, definitely a step down from last year and a huge drop from the buzz that was happening after Survivor Series a couple of months ago.

Spoiler: Hogan left where he was sitting the moment this match ended. Ok false alarm. He is back in his seat. Probably one of many bathroom breaks needed at his age.

I guess, makes sense if you plan on doing Roman/Orton at Chamber but I think they already said Romans not going to Australia. So Orton's revenge story line kind of gets overshadowed by being just one of three guys. Feels like Romans feuds are growing. Rhodes, maybe Rock, Ortons going to be taking a back seat for a while. If it is Rock/Roman at Mania,I think we gonna have at least another year of filler defenses for Roman. So I guess he's gonna need all of them plus more🙄 If there is a god, we wont have to suffer through another year of a Roman title run. Its time to end it. Same s#!t different day, show up once every 3 months, interference leads to victory, rinse, wash, repeat. It'd be different if they actually had any creative left to book him properly. Its just repetitive at this point.

Did Ortons shoulder just give out again?
EDIT: I guess just good selling. He looked legit hurt there for a second.

Maybe it’s just me, but this feels like the least important Roman match in quite some time. Theres no question what the outcome is going to be. No element of interest when you know whats going to happen.

I think he'll be in the US Title picture come Mania season. Im honestly kind of surprised by this whole match as it is. They kinda did Orton dirty twice first having Punk return on his return night and then also adding Knight and Styles who already fought/could have faced him at Chamber. Gotta be done to save Randy from taking the pin right? I guess, makes sense if you plan on doing Roman/Orton at Chamber but I think they already said Romans not going to Australia. So Orton's revenge story line kind of gets overshadowed by being just one of three guys. Feels like Romans feuds are growing. Rhodes, maybe Rock, Ortons going to be taking a back seat for a while.

When's the last time a star the caliber of Cody Wrestle Mania plans are so much up in the air? Seems like there's so many options right now but guess it should be pretty concrete after tonight. If Rhodes wins or the flip side, if Rock shows up and wins I think its concrete either way. If Punk wins I think its still TBD for weeks to come.
