Since this will probably end up in others asking if any are for sale I'm locking this.

I took it to mean AFTER the deal between WWF and Hasbro had expired. The tone of it felt like he was bringing up the way WCW took all of WWF's leftovers in the mid to late 90's. Maybe the OP can clarify. Yeah, either with Hasbro after they split with WWF or just have whatever random company they were liscensed with imitate them just like Mattel is doing today. Which I wouldn't have thought of back then, and was surprised to see the Mattel could/would outright copy the Hasbro line. I'm pretty sure another company wasn't allowed to copy the Hasbro WWF style in the mid to late '90s because of patents. In the mid '90s WCW wasn't big enough to ink a deal with Hasbro. Even if there was a slim chance, there's no guarantee they would've used the same figure style; they might've been similar to GIJoe Extreme figures. Also I think WCW had a deal with OSFTM before Hasbro's deal with WWF ended...

There is a blue ring with black round posts? I feel like i've never even seen that one... must be somewhat rare no? Also, still trying to figure out if there is a way to discern what ring is inside the box without opening it. Are there any distinctions between any of the blue ring boxes that one could use to figure out what's inside. People seem to claim first edition on certain sites, so I'm wondering how anyone could tell the difference and/or claim a certain ring type? I can only say that if the box has 4 languages on the back (1991 box), you have black flat top posts with black turnbuckles. If the box is English and reads 1990 it probably has blue posts.

At the time it wouldn't have been possible: Hasbro would've opened a lawsuit... Why doesn't Hasbro sue Mattel now for copying their figures? Hasbro doesn't have this figure style on the market right now. Last WWF Hasbros are from 1994, the patent for that figure style had probably expired.

Not if they actually inked a deal with Hasbro. Which was impossible since Hasbro had a deal with WWF.

The Mattel retros got me wondering about WCW and their figure lines in the 90's. Being that WCW tried to basically copy everything about golden era WWF, I wonder why they didn't copy the Hasbro figures? I never really thought of it until today. Even without getting Hasbro to make them, I guess they could have had any toy maker copy the style just like Mattel did in current day. I guess they did copy the LJN figures though, but it could have been a gold mine for them to make Hasbro style WCW figures. Just wondering if anyone else wondered why it never happened. At the time it wouldn't have been possible: Hasbro would've opened a lawsuit...

1996 in my local toy shop, eventually I bought all my local toy shop had. Starting with Jake "the Snake" Roberts (this was also the start of my Hasbro collection!) and Demolition Ax. Next I bought the blue ring and I think Brutus Beefcake 1. Next I bought Rick Rude and "Macho Man" Randy Savage 1, then Akeem and Big Boss Man 1.
Later I went back to buy the remaining stock: another blue ring, Akeem, Beefcake and Rude; I sold all those on ebay with profit.

Demolition helmets are quite easy to find. Frankie or Mountie's shockstick are quite hard to find. The shockstick is even wrong, should be red with yellow.
My favorite accessory is probably the 2x4. Always missed an accessory for Berserker; he should've come with a sword or a shield (both was out of the question I guess, since he had the cloth shirt). Also; if only they had released Undertaker's urn...

Read again guys; it doesn't say Rhythm & Blues sets, it says Rhythm & Blues Greg on singles card... Still doubtful that about 1,000 were released. Anything's possible I guess, not all secrets about vintage toys have been revealed...

I'm guessing HBK with Virgil's body.
edit: Nevermind, he posted a music note... Greg it is!

Not entirely true; I've lost money as a buyer without receiving my packages... Yes but it very simple to open an Ebay or Paypal case and get your money back, so risk free. Yeah, silly me trusted sellers with 100% feedback who kept saying my package would arrive until I couldn't open a case anymore...

I Love Ebay.... But I would never risk selling most of my expensive items there. e.g Dusty Mocs, KOTR rings etc, Ebay is an unsafer place for Sellers, but not for Buyers, it's risk free for buyers. Not entirely true; I've lost money as a buyer without receiving my packages...

There are sites, but usually they're more expensive than eBay... actiontoys.com comes to mind.
I'd stick with eBay or Craigslist in the US. Europe has per country smaller auctionsites outside eBay, Craigslist is also possible. Mexico/South America has MercadoLibre outside eBay.
Visiting real stores: the US also has many thrift stores or even pawn shops where you can find Hasbros.

OK, apparently the original post is gone.
hoodrat asked about customizing a regular Hasbro ring into a KOTR ring: what paints to use?
