Best of Duos: Night 2After a successful first night SNW returns for Night 2 of the Best of the Duos where we will crown the Best of the Duos 2009 but first we have some action from the Snow Wrestling Academy Students.
Dark Match: Josh Borne vs. Tom FelixFelix still has a black eye from a backstage fight and still behaves like a jacka**. Borne had to carry him to a decent match which still was pretty bad, Felix isn’t going anywhere in the wrestling business while Borne seems quite the opposite hitting the Re-Borne (Reverse Elevated DDT) for the win.
Winner: Josh BorneThe show then officially kicked off and the announcer said that all of the next matches up to Intermission will be the Quarter-Finals in the Best of Duos Tournament.
Quarter-finals
Match 1: Revolution X (Safu & LyNN) vs. New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland)An amazing tag match to kick off tonight with two of SNW’s top tag teams, like last night the Killers are focused and on top form but still the size and strength of Safu and the raw techniqual ability of LyNN seemed to match the Lady Killers experienced. The fans were fully behind the Killers who were able to convert the cheers into a win after hitting their patterned Pin Pointer.
Winners and Advancing: New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland)We see a clip backstage of Beast and Jugg overpowering and destroying the AirDevils, Carson Clark and Tom Gerard. Edward Colgate walks in, smiles and tells them that Beast and Jugg are the most dominating force in SNW no matter who wins tonight.
Quarter-finals
Duos Championships
Match 2: Youth Culture (Sam Kineval & Matt Spade) vs. Kevin Steen & El GenericoAnother great tag match that could have gone either way once again the Duos Championships were on the line and when Generico hit the Brainbuster it looked like we would have new champs but luckily Spade broke it up. A double suplex on the apron to Steen took him out of the match and allowed the champions to pick apart Generico and hit the Adulthood for another successful defence.
Winners, Advancing and Still SNW Duos Champions: Youth Culture (Sam Kineval & Matt Spade)New wrestler, Allusion who debuted last week was backstage with interviewer James Simmons. Allusion is a masked wrestler recently called up from the Snow Wrestling Academy.
Simmons: Hello ladies and gentlemen I am James Simmons and standing beside me is SNW’s newest accusation, Allusion.
Allusion: …
Simmons: So Mr. Allusion what are your feelings on being part of the SNW family?
Allusion: …
Simmons: What… how about feelings on next week where you get your first singles match here in SNW?
Allusion: …
Simmons: I thought you would say that. Well lets just go back to ringside
Allusion: AGHHH!
Simmons: Was that you?
Simmons then waves his hand in front of Allusion who seems to follow the movements until he bites at Simmons fingers. Simmons starts to scream and the video is cut, just a quick segment to get Allusion’s character over.
Quarter-finals
Match 3: The Real Hart Foundation (Kevin Hart & Gavin Hart) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)Top booking by SNW tonight as they pull out another great tag match from SNW. The Harts continued to impress putting on a good show with the boys from Detroit, the fans were well into Shelley and Sabin and loved everything about this match. Kevin locked in the sharpshooter while Gavin and Shelley brawled but Shelley was able to break it up and lead it into the ASCS Rush on Kevin.
Winners and Advancing: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)We then go backstage once again with James Simmons (with bandage on finger from earlier segment) along with eliminated team SNW FUSE Champion Ace Bennett and Jason Williams.
Simmons: Hello once again, now I am joined by the ultra talented team of Ace Bennett and Jason Williams. Who were eliminated last night by the men you just saw there the Motor City Machine Guns.
Bennett: Well we knew we where the underdogs going in, we’re not a regular tag team we’re just happy to put on a show for the fans.
Williams: Also if your going to lose to anyone you lose to the Guns, I see those guys going all the way
Simmons: Some SNW fans have been questioning your loyalty Jason are you just close to Ace to get the title?
Bennett: That’s complete bull me and Jase are good friends, right?
Williams: (pause) Exactly
Simmons: Lets go back to ringside for some more Quarter-final action
Quarter-finals
Match 4: The Gentlemen’s Club (Mike Bockwinkel & Austin Aries) vs. Chris Hammers & Henry EdwardsMuch like last nights match against Powers and Thomas this match wasn’t an amazing tag match like the previous matches as the chemistry wasn’t there. Especially between Hammers and Edwards who are playing up the hatred between each other which led to the Gentlemen’s Club controlling most of the match. All men worked well but there wasn’t that team vibe given off like the last matches. Mike and Aries went for their Brainbuster/Package Piledriver combo from last night but Edwards broke up Piledriver but tackling Bockwinkel out of the way then hitting the H.E. Driver (Double Underhook Brainbuster) for the shocking win.
Winner and Advancing: Chris Hammers & Henry EdwardsIntermission. After the match Edward helped his partner Hammers up to his feet then pushed him back down to the floor paying him back for last nights spit to the face. Edwards then left quickly before Hammers could get back up. The tension between the two rises. Once again the man from last night walked around the ring and stared at some fans at ringside though his white mask.
Mike Hogan Chikara Challenge
Match 5:Mike Hogan vs. Colin DelaneyPossibility the most well known of the Chikara roster due to his involvement with WWE, Colin Delaney came to break the Chikara Challenge. Although usually playing heel Colin came in playing the loveable face he started off on in ECW although with a much better move set. Lots of lucha wrestling once again showing the wideness of Hogan’s skills but he was able to hit the Futurism (Spinning Belly to Belly Piledriver) for another win.
Winner: Mike HoganAfter the match Hogan smiled getting to his feet, he wiped away the sweat from his brow and signalled to the audience that he is 7:0 in the challenge.
Semi-finals
Match 6: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. Chris Hammers & Henry EdwardsThe tension between Hammers and Edwards was very high during this match with multiple no tags, pushing between teammates and even a slap from Hammers. This affected the quality of the match but made sense for storyline advancement. The Guns were as good as always and it looked like the Guns where going to lose as long as Edwards made a tag to a fresh Hammers but instead Hammers chose to jump off the apron and walk to the back. This lead to a Sliced Break No.2 from Shelley and the victory for the outsiders from the Motor City.
Winners and Advancing to the Finals: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)Evan Pagano is walking down the corridor backstage when he sees Owner Zachary Miller and goes over to him.
Pagano: Hey Miller
Miller: Rob!
Miller’s bodyguard Robert then gets in the way blocking Pagano from seeing Miller
Pagano: Hey Miller why have you been trying to avoid me?
Miller: Avoid you why would I do that
Pagano: Because I got this
Pagano lifts up his contract stipulating his title shot which he won at the One.
Miller: Yes so?
Pagano: So your trying to avoid me not to give me my title shot
Miller: I don’t know what you are talking about Evan, I have to go I have a important meeting to be at.
Miller then exits into a limo behind him while Robert continues to block Pagano before the limo sets off. Pagano begins to walk away then stops before delivering a HBK-esq superkick to Robert.
Pagano: Don’t ever get in my way again
Semi-finals
Duos Championship
Match 7: Youth Culture (Sam Kineval & Matt Spade) vs. New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland)These rivals clashed once more but this time with only one team advancing to the finals both teams brought everything to the fight. An amazing match with so much emotion making it MOTN and even a MOTYC as these two teams could be two of the best teams in North America today. Lots of action with finishers coming out of nowhere and breaking up of pin counts. It came down to Kineval and Sinn who battled it out until Parkland was able to enter the ring to hit the Pin Pointer to crown new champs.
Winners and New SNW Duos Champions: New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland)The new champs then celebrated as Kineval had a fit in the ring not only being eliminated but also losing his belt. The announcer said the main event will be the finals with the Motor City Machine Guns facing the New Age Lady Killers but first some non-tournament action.
Match 8: Steven Kagemann vs. Player Dos vs. Jason WilliamsOn any other night this match would have been great but due to all the action including the terrific last match this was overshadowed. Player Dos (without mask) did put on a great show and went all out during the match. Jason and Steven also looked good with their highspots but nothing which made the fans jump to their feet after the previous match. Kagemann got the win following a DeathDrive (Here We Go Driver)
Winner: Steven KagemannThe finals were then up next and a trophy was brought out. Both teams walked out and interacted with the trophy signalling that it would be theirs soon. In the ring the announcer did another introduction to the two teams both teams received equal cheers.
Finals
Duos Championships
Main Event: New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)Although in wrestling terms this was a worst match than the previous tag match it made up for in atmosphere. The crowd were the best SNW have ever seen before with duelling ‘Lets go Killers!’ and ‘Lets go Guns’ along with chants for whoever was in the ring. As always the Guns were on top form still showing double team moves we haven’t seen in the previous matches keeping the match fresh. The end came when Parkland kicked out of the Made in Detroit but as they went to finish him with the ASCS Rush Sinn ran in and drilled Shelley with the Original Sinn (Tiger Driver 91) then hit the Pin Pointer along with Parkland for the 3-count.
Winners, Still Duos Champions and Best of Duos 2009: New Age Lady Killers (Daniel Sinn & Drew Parkland)After the match The Lady Killers celebrated in the ring before the Guns got up and shook hands with the now Duos Champions. The announcer handed over the Best of Duos trophy and they held that up along with the titles proving that they are the best tag team in America today.
