Be the Best 2011 UpdateWeek 2 of the Be the Best qualifiers showed us why SNW is home to the best action around. We had long matches, we had short matches but overall we had good matches. Below are the updated Blocks with a brief summary of each block below. BLOCK A | Chris Hammers | Mike Hogan | Steven Kagemann | Cody Rejaro | SCORE | Chris Hammers | X | Week 3 | WIN | WIN | 4 | Mike Hogan | Week 3 | X | WIN | WIN | 4 | Steven Kagemann | LOSS | LOSS | X | Week 3 | 0 | Cody Rejaro | LOSS | LOSS | Week 3 | X | 0 |
BLOCK A SUMMARY: Block A has continued the trend from last week with both Hammers and Hogan winning their matches going into the final show. Kagemann and Rejaro both go out of the running but will still face each other to win back some dignity. Meanwhile it is all to play for between Hammers and Hogan as the winner will advance to the finals and the loser will be eliminated. Henry Edwards Jordan Devine Jack Joseph Bret Thomas SCORE

Henry Edwards X Week 3 DRAW WIN 3

Jordan Devine Week 3 X DRAW LOSS 1

Jack Joseph DRAW DRAW X Week 3 2

Bret Thomas LOSS WIN Week 3 X 2

BLOCK B SUMMARY: Block B is still a big chase to the final hurdle. Edwards leads into the final but could easily not be going through to the final only a win will secure Edwards a spot in the finals but he faces Devine who still has a chance in the competition as long as he gets a win but it will be a tough battle. Also next week Joseph will battle Thomas in a match where a win for either man could put them ahead of Edwards. BLOCK C | Mike Bockwinkel | Kevin Hart | A.J Matthews | Jason Williams | SCORE | Mike Bockwinkel | X | Week 3 | WIN | LOSS | 2 | Kevin Hart | Week 3 | X | WIN | DRAW | 3 | A.J Matthews | LOSS | LOSS | X | Week 3 | 0 | Jason Williams | WIN | DRAW | Week 3 | X | 3 |
BLOCK C Summary: Block C gives SNW the biggest shock of the qualifiers thus far as Jason Williams beats Mike Bockwinkel putting him into joint first with Kevin Hart. Mike Bockwinkel can still win as long as he wins his bout with Hart who will also want the full 2 points to advance. Although out of the competition A.J will want to beat Jason when they meet next week. A win for A.J will not only bring back his dignity but also take Jason out of the competition. BLOCK D | Drake Fortune | Nick Jacobs | Evan Pagano | Jack Powers | SCORE | Drake Fortune | X | Week 3 | LOSS | WIN | 2 | Nick Jacobs | Week 3 | X | LOSS | WIN | 2 | Evan Pagano | WIN | WIN | X | Week 3 | 4 | Jack Powers | LOSS | LOSS | Week 3 | X | 0 |
BLOCK D SUMMARY: Block D has a clear favourite already but Pagano’s spot in the finals isn’t booked yet. Drake’s win and Jacobs’ loss puts them on even standings. They will face off next week and only a win will keep them in the competition. However this will all be in vain if Pagano picks up another win and goes undefeated through qualifying but he will have Jack Powers standing in his way who is getting annoyed at the interferences of the mystery follower.

This is going well. No surprise to see Hogan/Hammers as the favorites in Block A. It would be a good win for Hogan, but I see Hammers staying in top form to advance. I'm thinking you might want to fix the information in Block B, because there's a few errors in there. I would love it if Joseph got through, but I see Devine losing to Edwards and advancing him. Block C is looking good too, don't see Williams going farther in this Cinderella story, with Hart and Bock in the Block. Bock makes more sense, since its pretty clear Pagano is going to advance in Block D, so its 2 faces and 2 heels. However, some surprise would be cool. Still curious to see who Ace will be facing at the iPPV. Keep it up.

this be the best tournament is laid out real well as I've mentioned before. The second night was intense and the write ups seemed very quick and to the point. I love the 4 block breakdown and I have to say, this could be one of the better sign-ups ever man. You are definitely up there with the elite now.

Superiority Complex Be the Best 2011 Qualifying Night 3
S1) Travis Cantrell vs. Zeke: Just one student match tonight as we kick right into the action. The highflying Travis takes on the big powerful Zeke. Zeke looked to be in control but Travis wore him down and hit a nice looking SSP for the 3 count.
SNW World Champion, Ace Bennett walked to the ring in a suit and tie. Ace said how sad he was that the competition is ending tonight because he can’t see SNW wrestlers killing each other for a title shot anymore. He also said that next week he will find out his “outsider” opponent for the Be the Best iPPV.
1) BLOCK D: Drake Fortune vs. Nick Jacobs: A win here was crucial for both men to keep them with a chance of winning. With both wrestlers playing heels the fans decided not to pick a favourite and just boo/insult both men. Both men tried cheat to win but Jacobs won after sending Drake into an exposed turnbuckle.
We then go backstage for a DVD exclusive. Evan Pagano is standing by with his reaction to the last match he says now he has a challenge on his hands. Although he has beaten both Drake and Nick he has to face Jack Powers tonight. He says despite Powers 0 points he is still a top competitor and a loss against Jack will mean a rematch for the BLOCK D spot next week.
2) BLOCK C: Jason Williams vs. A.J Matthews: AJ was already out of the contest but that didn’t stop him from going all out for the win. Jason went into this thinking it might be a walkover after beating Bock and drawing Hart however AJ wan with the Easter Execution.
Post match Jason Williams was obviously upset. This loss for Jason takes him out of the competition and leaves the lead open for either Bockwinkel or Hart who face off later tonight. Jason eventually offered sportsmanship to AJ by asking for an handshake but AJ smacked him across the face and left.
3) BLOCK B: Jack Joseph vs. Bret Thomas: A win here would put one of these men in the lead although both men wanted it so bad neither were willing to lose. Jack carried on his fine form in this shockingly great match-up. Jack hit an Asai Moonsault on the outside then the two brawled on the outside for too long causing a double count out.
Following the match both men shouted at the referee for making the call. This now sends both men out of the competition and leaves the top spot for either Edwards or Devine. They then turned their attention on each other and brawled though the crowd and the exit doors.
4) BLOCK A: Steven Kagemann vs. Cody Rejero: Both men are already out and have had a rough competition but in this match they could prove that their not a complete push over. It was a fun match ending with Kagemann reversing a Pepsi Plunge into a Fire Tornado.
Intermission. There’s a lot of confusion with the bracketing and how the first half affected the Blocks. The ring announcer went over the brackets but it was still confusing. He settled on telling the crowd that the last four matches were crucial in advancing as winners of their respective Blocks.
5) BLOCK D: Jack Powers vs. Evan Pagano: Powers was in the same position as AJ earlier so far no wins however this was due to interference by Jack’s follower. As we saw earlier AJ dug deep and pulled out a win Powers was hoping to follow the trend but he had Pagano in his way. The mystery man appeared but Powers stayed focused on the match, despite this Pagano countered the Power Suplex and hit the Calling for a well deserved win just before the time limit.
Post match, Pagano celebrated as he had won BLOCK D and advanced to the iPPV. After he had left the mysterious man attacked Jack Powers in the ring and proceeded to punch away at his face until he started to bleed. Students and staff ran out and scared the man away.
6) BLOCK C: Mike Bockwinkel vs. Kevin Hart: It was all to play for in this match as a win for either man would take them through as the winner of BLOCK C. The action shifted back and forth throughout until Red Dragon walked down to the ring. Instead of interfering Dragon took a chair and sat at ringside. This slight distraction affected Bock and gave Hart a few close falls. Bock took a fall to the outside and started an argument with Dragon, Bock then pushed Red over but was met by Hart diving to the outside. Hart threw Bock back in the ring, hit a 450 and locked in the sharpshooter however the time limit ended before Bock could tap ending the match in a draw.
Following the match, everyone was confused to who had won Block C until it was announced that this draw leaves Bockwinkel with 3 points but Hart with 4 meaning Kevin Hart advances through to the final four. Hart briefly celebrated and exited knowing he has secured his place in the final four. Meanwhile Bockwinkel got to his feet and after the referee had explained the situation Bock shoved the ref. Dragon jumped in before Bock could do any more damage and hit him with a Red Dragon Driver.
7) BLOCK B: Jordan Devine vs. Henry Edwards: Devine was accompanied by Amy Lee and Hammers who walked out with him, wished him luck then went to get ready for his own match. Although ranked bottom in his Block Devine could still advance with a win which would leave him joint top with Edwards. Devine wanted to make Hammers proud but his over eagerness proved too much and Edwards capitalised with a quick Crossface leaving Devine with no choice but to tap out.
8) BLOCK A: Mike Hogan vs. Chris Hammers: The fourth and final spot in the Be the Best tournament was all to play for in the main event with the two leaders battling off to prove who will advance alongside the other Block winners to the iPPV. These two rivals battled and battled and battled but this was a disadvantage to both men as the match lasted longer than the time limit and the referee called for the bell.
Post match confusion as both Hogan and Hammers still battling until the referee breaks them up. They shout at the referee who says he’s only doing his job. This leaves both men on 5 points and joint top of Block A. The crowd chant “5 more minutes” and Hogan seems happy to keep going. Hammers however doesn’t and lays out the referee with a Lariat. He quickly exits the ring before Hogan can catch him and tells Hogan that he’ll meet him next week where he’ll beat him to win BLOCK A.

Be the Best 2011 UpdateThe Be the Best 2011 qualifiers are over with the show going off with a bang and some confusion. Here’s a summary so you know what’s going on. BLOCK A | Chris Hammers | Mike Hogan | Steven Kagemann | Cody Rejaro | SCORE | Chris Hammers | X | DRAW | WIN | WIN | 5 | Mike Hogan | DRAW | X | WIN | WIN | 5 | Steven Kagemann | LOSS | LOSS | X | WIN | 2 | Cody Rejaro | LOSS | LOSS | LOSS | X | 0 |
BLOCK A SUMMARY: Kagemann earned his first and only win of the Block against Cody who ended the completion with three losses. Meanwhile in the main event we had confusion as Hammers vs. Hogan went to a controversial time limit draw. Meaning we have no decisive winner of BLOCK A. However by the ruling of SNW Chris Hammers and Mike Hogan will face off next week in a must have a winner no limit match. Only one can join the other three block winners to the iPPV. Henry Edwards Jordan Devine Jack Joseph Bret Thomas SCORE

Henry Edwards X WIN DRAW WIN 5

Jordan Devine LOSS X DRAW LOSS 1

Jack Joseph DRAW DRAW X DRAW 3

Bret Thomas LOSS WIN DRAW X 3

BLOCK B SUMMARY: Jack Joseph ends the completion with the unique record of three draws although he doesn’t qualify he will be happy with such a good result. Jack’s draw with Bret Thomas sent them out of the competition, leaving Devine a huge opportunity of winning against Edwards and having a rematch the following week. Devine was unable to do this and ends with just one point meanwhile Edwards goes though on 5 points. BLOCK C | Mike Bockwinkel | Kevin Hart | A.J Matthews | Jason Williams | SCORE | Mike Bockwinkel | X | DRAW | WIN | LOSS | 3 | Kevin Hart | DRAW | X | WIN | DRAW | 4 | A.J Matthews | LOSS | LOSS | X | WIN | 2 | Jason Williams | WIN | DRAW | LOSS | X | 3 |
BLOCK C Summary: A.J Matthews win over Jason Williams took the young highflyer out of the completion and stopped himself from leaving with no points. An upset Jason could only watch as Bockwinkel and Hart did battle knowing any result would have knocked him out. A draw between Bockwinkel and Hart sends Hart into the final four. It’s a big chance for Hart who has the chance to step it up into the big league. BLOCK D | Drake Fortune | Nick Jacobs | Evan Pagano | Jack Powers | SCORE | Drake Fortune | X | LOSS | LOSS | WIN | 2 | Nick Jacobs | WIN | X | LOSS | WIN | 4 | Evan Pagano | WIN | WIN | X | WIN | 6 | Jack Powers | LOSS | LOSS | LOSS | X | 0 |
BLOCK D SUMMARY: Nick Jacobs’ early win in the opening match of the contest made it crucial for Pagano to get a win as a loss to Powers would send Jacobs and Pagano into a rematch the next week. However Pagano continued his fine form and put away Jack Powers meaning that Pagano advanced through to the final four. Powers ended with three losses although only two can be blamed on his mystery follower after his interferences in Powers’ matches over the following weeks. We know three of the final four in SNW’s 2011 Be the Best. BLOCK B winner- x2 SNW World Champion, Henry Edwards, BLOCK C winner- Former FUSE Champion, Kevin Hart and BLOCK D winner, the returning Evan Pagano. All men have proved that they have what it takes to Be the Best. Mike Hogan and Chris Hammers will face off next week for the final spot. Then all four men will be focused on the IPPV. The final four will be drawn against each other then live on iPPV in two separate single matches with the winner advancing though to the final.

SNW in Japan NewsEvan Pagano made his return to SNW to compete in the 2011 Be the Best tournament. Evan Pagano went away months ago to compete with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) In Japan Pagano had a decent first Japan tour. In his tour he mostly took the falls in tag and trio matches but had the chance to work with Japanese legends. He teamed up with Jushin Liger twice in tag matches and once in a trios match. He has had previous experience working with Liger in SNW when on tour with SNW in Japan. Pagano is just one of the wrestlers who have gone to Japan to represent SNW. The absence of the former x3 Duos Champions, the New Age Lady Killers is due to them competing in Japan for three weeks. The Lady Killers who are former IWGP Tag Team Champions challenged for the titles unsuccessfully twice during their mini-tour but put on tremendous matches. This mini-tour strengthened the Lady Killers popularity in Japan. SNW is expected to be in talks with NJPW soon about another mini-tour later in the year. Pro Wrestling NOAH of Japan are also in contact with SNW. They still want SNW big stars Henry Edwards and Chris Hammers to go on an extended tour like Evan Pagano just did with NJPW. However SNW has constantly refused these offers as they feel that both stars are too valuable to SNW at the moment. Meanwhile SNW World Champion, Ace Bennettt, Kevin Hart and Steven Kagemann are set to make their ZERO-1 debut later on in the year. In other news Jason Williams continues to work for Dragon Gate in Japan and Dragon Gate USA back in the states. With many of the SNW stars going out to Japan to gain valuable experience it seems that SNW might do the same for some Japanese wrestlers. 22 year old Katsuhiko Nakajima has reportedly agreed to debut in SNW in the near future. Nakajima has previously worked in the States with ROH but now comes to SNW to gain more experience in America. However the deal isn’t done yet and may take some time the deal to be finalised and his visas to come through.

Good show man. Not really surprised to see a tie in this, and Hogan/Hammers should be great. Rooting for Hammers though, because the final four really needs a heel. Edwards advancing in Block B isn't a surprise either, but I hope he doesn't win. This is the type of tournament that could really put over a lower talent. Kevin Hart would fit that role perfectly, even though I was surprised to see him come out of Block C. Makes sense though since you probably want to do something with Dragon/Bock at the iPPV. A tag match would be good. Block D wasn't too shocking either, but its been a good return for Pagano. Rooting for Hart to win the whole thing. Still wondering who Ace's opponent will be at the iPPV. Would love to see Ace get 3 more defenses and tie Edwards' mark.

Confrontation TimeS1) Travis Cantrell vs. Zakk Static: The student show kicked off with a cracker of a contest. Travis and Zakk had the pace and stamina to make this a really quick, fun and athletic contest. Zakk easily has the most charisma out of any of the students, he can draw heat anywhere. Zakk won after a Brainbuster. S2) Phenom and Cain Jackal vs. Zeke and X Matt: Zeke was a playing your classic fun babyface and it worked well for him. He and Matt were a pretty good team but Phenom and Cain were the better team. Phenom got the win with the Last Rites. 1) Jack Powers vs. Alex Diamond: The opening contest was a lot shorter than we all thought. Powers came out with one thing on his mind, destruction. Powers chucked Alex around, hit the Power Suplex and locked in the Immortality and Diamond was tapping out. A furious Jack Powers grabbed the mic post match and told the man who has been following him over the past few weeks to come out. Powers called him a chicken for not coming out to fight and hiding in the back he said he should come out and face his fury. Then the man attacked Powers from behind after jumping from his front row seat! The man continued the assault until he picked up the mic saying that he is the real Fury. 2) Henry Edwards and Kevin Hart vs. Revolution X: RevX was represented by LyNN and Devine possibly the worst pairing of the stable but with Safu still out injured and Hammers competing in the main event they were forced to team up. Edwards and Hart worked well despite knowing they could face each other at the iPPV either in the semi-finals or the finals. Hart locked in the Sharpshooter on LyNN while Edwards had the Crossface on Devine and both men tapped out. Nick Jacobs was next out and complained that Evan Pagano stole his spot in Be the Best. Jacobs said if they had a rematch he would easily win. Evan Pagano came out and took up that challenge. 3) Evan Pagano vs. Nick Jacobs: This was a lot like their match two weeks ago. Jacobs kept up with the in form Pagano for the first ten minutes but as the match went on Jacobs lost control leading to Pagano taking complete control and hitting the Calling to continue him momentum into Be the Best 2011. SNW World Champion, Ace Bennett made his way out while Pagano was leaving and they had a brief stare down. He said last week he told the crowd he would announce his opponent for Be the Best iPPV. He explained that with everyone competing in the Be the Best qualifiers there was no viable challenger from within SNW. So SNW management set up an opponent from outside SNW. Ace continued saying he doesn’t even know his opponent, he was just told to come to the ring. A video then played showing Dragon Gate’s own masked highflyer Dragon Kid. As he spoke his words were translated on the bottom in English. He said that SNW is the home of completion. And that’s why he is coming to SNW to face Ace Bennett on live iPPV. 4) New Age Lady Killers vs. Jason Williams and Cody Rejaro: The winners of this match would face Duos Champions, the Fatality Squad at the Be the Best iPPV. The Lady Killers looked happy to be back in SNW after their mini-tour with Japan but they had to contend with Canadians Cody and Jason. There was some great tag action but the Lady Killer’s experience proved too much for Jason and Cody who won with a Pin Pointer. Intermission. The ring announcer told the crowd to go over to the SNW website for SNW announcements after tonight’s show. Also he said about the main event between Hogan and Hammers and that the FUSE title match would be on the line after the intermission break. 5) FUSE: Drake Fortune vs. Jack Joseph: Once again announcing the title match in intermission works brilliantly for making sure everyone is back in their seat before the show restarts. Joseph’s recent performances earns him this title match and he went all out to try and get the title. Drake looked a little off tonight and Joseph smelt blood in the water hitting the Pele Kick but before he could pin AJ Matthews attacked him. A.J Matthews continued his beat down on Jack post match possibly angry about Jack getting a title shot before him. As AJ shoved the referee to the floor Jacob Ryler ran out to fight off AJ. Then Drake got up and helped AJ attack both Jack and Ryler. AJ then turned on the FUSE champ until Matt Spade ran out to join in. Just when you thought the ring couldn’t get any fuller Jason and Cody ran out to add to the mayhem. The fight spread all over the arena until all men were battled out view. 6) Ace Bennett and the Fatality Squad vs. Jacob Ryler and the AirDevils: The SNW World Champion was back in action teaming with the Duos Champions to face Ryler (who returned after just fighting in a brawl) and the AirDevils. The faces put up a decent fight but were no match for the champions super team who won with a Fall/Double Stomp combo with Ace sneaking in to pick up the win/glory. Mike Bockwinkel made his way out in a suit and straight away started abusing Red Dragon. In-between these long rants he called Dragon out numerous times even calling him “Red Chicken” and “Yellow bellied Dragon.” Red Dragon eventually hit the ring dumping Bockwinkel to the canvas and pounding on him. However Bockwinkel had back up in the form of Nick Jacobs who ran out to help out his partner. As Bockwinkel and Jacobs were putting the boots to Dragon former SNW roster member and Dragon’s tag partner Assassin, ran out. Bockwinkel took a clothesline to the outside then Jacobs was attacked until he pulled himself from the ring. The Gentlemen’s Club then made their way to the exit but Dragon stopped them by shouting over the mic. Dragon told Nick and Mike to meet them in New York for the iPPV as the Gentlemen’s Club take on the Red Assassins. Dragon added to “make things interesting” they would throw the rules out the window as it would be a “New York Street Fight.” 7) BLOCK A: Chris Hammers vs. Mike Hogan: As you would expect in this no time limit must have a winner match we had everything from drama, interference but most of all top quality wrestling. The referee took a bump after seventeen minutes of action and Hammers took advantage after Amy slid a steel chair into the ring. Hammers smashed Hogan with the chair busting him wide open but Hogan kicked out! The referee took a second bump but it seemed like Hammers did it on purpose! Jordan Devine came out but was knocked off the apron. It all ended u being too much for Hogan as a quick Lariat from Hammers gave the Irish man the win and advances through to the final four.

Be the Best 2011Live from the “Hammerstein Ballroom” only on Go Fight Live 3 Weeks LeftWith just three weeks remaining till SNW’s 3rd iPPV three matches have been set in stone. The “Be the Best” matches have not been confirmed as the draw for the semi-finals has not taken place. Below is the match card at the moment: SNW World ChampionshipAce Bennett vs. Dragon KidWith SNW competitors competing in the Be the Best tournament SNW management had to search outside SNW for a viable championship contender and they found a real suprise. Flying over especially from Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion will be the masked fan favourite high flyer, Dragon Kid. The odds are stacked against Kid who has never competed in SNW before but he is used to these odds being only 5’4 in height. Who will win when these two battle it out for the title? SNW Duos ChampionshipsFatality Squad vs. New Age Lady KillersLast time these two met was at our last iPPV where the rapidly upcoming combination of former enemies, Bret Thomas and Steven Kagemann took the belts from the well established New Age Lady Killers. Now the Fatality Squad have proven that they are no fluke they have to face the former champions in their toughest challenge yet. Will the reigning champions prove once again that they are the on top of the SNW tag division? Or will the Lady Killers regain the titles and have a record 4th reign as champions. Be the Best 2011 Semi–Final/Final MatchesIncluding: Chris Hammers, Henry Edwards, Kevin Hart and Evan PaganoThe final four are now set while the matches will be determined next week in a special draw. Then we will know the two semi-final matches which will take place live on iPPV. New York Street FightThe Gentlemen’s Club vs. Red Assassins (Pending)These two tag team rivals have a long history spreading back many years. Red Dragon laid out the challenge last week but it has yet to be sanctioned by SNW management.

Nice show man. Sucks to see Cantrell lose, I see him falling quite a bit when the student rankings come out. I like the build between Powers and the mystery man. Cool to see Ace win in the 6 man tag team match, good way to put him and Fatality Squad over. Dragon Kid/Bennett will be a great match, hopefully Ace wins. Glad Hammers won in the main event, adds a heel to the mix in BtB. Gentlemen's Club/Red Assassins will be great if it happens. Keep it up.

Still love this diary so freaking much. Stoked to be in the Final Four of the "Be The Best Tournament" and I would love to win it at the Hammerstein Ballroom, an arena I've seen seven ROH & ECW shows at. Also, love Bennett/Dragon Kid as I'm a huge Dragon Kid mark. Can't wait for the iPPV.
