I just bought Bret Harts new book. 28.00!! Expensive as hell but after purusing it a little it reads pretty good. Anyone else buying it?

I was about to say old as hell, but I realized they just released in the US, I got in over a year ago when it was released here in Canada and I paid much more than you did so consider yourself lucky.

I got it for Christmas last year. It's flippin' excellent, despite his narcissism and love for himself. He was great, and a legend, don't get me wrong. He was and to an extent still is my favorite wrestler of all time and the reason I started watching. But he definitely praises himself constantly in the book.
It definitely changed my viewpoint on the Hitman and it's a very heartbreaking book, with all the tragedies his family has gone through.

Heh, saw at Safeway the other day for $14. Not bad considering I bought it for a lot more way back when.

I got it last Christmas too. I think I paid the equivalent of $60 US.
I enjoy the book. In some ways, it's the most complete look at different eras of wrestling (though Foley's books are better, and I'd say I prefer Jericho's too) but it is hamstrung by Bret's insecurities manifesting themselves through bragging. It bugged me how he'd include anecdotes about how the hot dog vendor's sister's boyfriend's cousin told him he had the best match on the card. Or the Iron Sheik once told him he was great, so he cried. Those aren't specific examples, but there were numerous times in the book where he said stuff along those lines.
That said, it is definitely worth a read. I would recommend it to anyone. You just might come away from it feeling sorry for Bret because of how desperate for praise he obviously was/is.

I plan on getting it soon. I have been waiting for it to be released here in the US since it came out in Canada.

Yea iv had it a while, really interesting. Its best upto around 96 when he wants u to think he trusted vince and shawn etc...but i was really interested in the rest of it. I dont think he wrote it all himself but very well wrote. However i do like its honesty, the wwe published books are heavily censored. Whereas he doesnt want a job, brave of him to admit he took steroids and slept around!

I used to worship Bret like so many other Canadians, but I've lost so much respect for him over the years. He talks about wrestling and his world titles like they're real, and not wanting to job in Montreal was totally unprofessional. He's just turned into a real whiner.

Yeah it was released in the US. It's a great read so far. Bret constanly is tutting his own horn. Man he still hates Shawn

Read it a year or so ago when it came out. He comes off as really bitter if you ask me.

I wonder if the books actually reads "aboot and oot", all through it. Not that I've seen. It does have Dynamite and Davey saying 'fook' a lot in it, though. The book is pretty good. I got it for 26.99 (cover price) which is better than the 40 it was going for last year.
