I haven't flown on a plane in like 5yrs, and I'm going to be flying soon. I can't stand flying, cause the last time I flown there was major turbulence. Well I planned on drinking before I got on my flight. I know not to get smashed, cause they won't let me on the flight. I just want to drink a few and get a buzz and listen to my ipod while I'm on the plane. But heres my problem, my flights at 7am and I can't drink that early in the morning. So any suggestions how to calm my nerves? My flight will be 2 and half hrs.

Try not sleeping at all that night. Stay up until your flight, so once you get on the plane you'll fall right asleep.

Falling asleep on the plane is the best way to just have a nice flight for me.

Get drinking before flight, that wasn't good idea, they can reject you if they think your was too drunk to get on the flight, even you don't feel like as drunk. I know its stupid.

It's by far the safest way to travel. I've never quite understood why people panic so much about flying. You'll be perfectly fine.

My 6 hour plane ride to Hawaii wasn't bad at all, I listened to a few CDs, took a nap, went to the bathroom, watched a bit of the movie Elf...and before I knew it, I was there.
I really don't understand why people stress over flying.

You're profile say's you're 20. . . . So I don't think you'll be drinking before you're flight.

Take a couple of Tylenol PM about 45 minutes before takeoff.

I actually love flying just because I love people watching in the airports during layovers. You see some very weird stuff.

I know security is tight and people are going to think its stupid but its not its a fear. I mean there should be no reason for a plane to be hijax but it happens!

Buy drink the night before and drink it before going on the plane. If you are only going to drink so much that you+ feel relaxed, then I don't see a problem with it being the morning.
Or take a tranquilizer. That would probably be the best idea.

Honestly, just try to calm your nerves. Focus on listening to music, or something on your ipod. If you read, I'd also recommend that; it always works for me.

I don't fear flying per se, but I do get nervous at times... particularly takeoff and landing. I usually can calm myself down by being realistic, and reminding myself how rare it is for major problems to happen on commercial flights. Other than things like turbulence or long delays on the tarmac, it really is quite rare for commercial flights to have any major problems.
So that's my advice, I guess: Be realistic. Remember that tons of commercial flights go off without a hitch every single day, and you practically never hear about an accident (unlike automobile traffic).

Don't stress out, like said before, flying is one of the safest types of transportation. There's a better chance of dying in a car accident. And actually, just a couple days ago, I went on a plane to Las Vegas. We flew over the mountains and there was some turbulance, but it was safe. Just don't stress, watch a movie, listen to some music, read a book or their magazines, and enjoy their nice airline food. LOL. Anyways, I hope you have safe traveling.
