HOT TOYS: AVP - MACHIKO Had her on preorder for MONTHS now and she finally came out! Now, before I go on, what some people need to realize is, that YES this was expensive ($181 shipped), but I've had four months to pay for it since most sites won't charge you until it ships. So, in that amount of time that Hot Toys have from the announcement, to the preorder, to the shipping date, there is MORE than enough time to pay for something this. With that said, I'll talk a little about the figure itself. At the jest of it, Machiko is a character from the original AVP comic books (and the novels that were written later on) who eventually, ended up fighting alongside an older Predator, and being 'blooded' (the scar) by said Predator, after killing a queen. Two years after the incident she was picked up by a clan after they saw the mark on her, she hunted with them for years, and eventually turned on them. Yadda yadda, anything really in between you want to ask me, just go for it. Anyway, THAT was the character Lex in the movie AVP was loosely based on. This figure however, is an amalgamation of the two (and bares a striking resemblance to Angelina Jolie). Enjoy the pics. (Note: the chain to the scabbard, where it is silver was my own doing. The way it was meant to be attached made me want to rip my hair out, so I opted for an easier solution.) ...and if you didn't know, the Predators are 14 inches tall, Machiko is 12" - Hot Toys nailed the scale.

That looks just stunning. I remember you telling me about it and showing me pics of it on AIM awhile back. Just looks amazing though. Congrats on it.

I remember when photos of this first hit and the first rumors were Angelina Jolie starring in a new AvP movie...I like this better.

Holy hell... other franchises... first to pop into mind are:
Terminator, Robocop, Alien, Batman, Ironman (the stuff coming out looks unreal), Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Rocky, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, G.I. Joe (Snake Eyes is breathtaking), and Superman.
They're quickly becoming THE company to watch for 1/6 scale display (model, whatever word you want to use) figures. I love what they've done and continue to do with the Predator and AVP licenses.

Hot Toys have become the pinnacle for 1/6th scale figs. I'm not much of a toy collector anymore. I got into the big stuff (prop replicas, 1:1 Busts, etc) and stayed away from 1/6th figs because of a lack of interest in the format. I bought a Hot Toys TDK Batman in Original Suit last month after seeing pics and I was completely blown away at how well it came out. Even at the price they charged ($159), I preordered the Bank Robber Joker immediately...and I'm going to preoreder Two-Face/Harvey Dent at some point as well. Check out sideshowcollectors.com for pics in their forum. It's in the DC section...

I took one look at that and she reminded me of that chick who helped the Predators in the first AvP movie.

damn that looks amazing, I'm new to HT but I already bought like 3 figs from them. They're a bit pricey though but damn worth it for that detail.
