Just got back form the doctor where I was told I'm a diabetic. I kind of expected it to honest. My brother has had it his entire life so I knew I was at risk. And I've dropped like 50 lbs this year (down to 135) so i knew something was wrong.
I found out monday if I'm to be taking pills the rest of my life or if I'll have to take insulin shots every day.. for the rest of my life, which will suck royally.
It's all a bit overwhelming, but I have a good support system considering my mom has been caring for my brother's diabetes since he was 9 (he's 27 now, he also have down syndrome which compounds the condition).
Main things I'm concerned about are the shots, and diet soda. I hate that crap. (kidding obviously. those are concerns, but not the main ones.)

A majority of my family are diabetic. Luckily, they have never had many issues with it. I also have a friend (she's 15 now) was diagnosed with it a couple years ago. She was always active in sports, never ate junk, none of that. But now she eats even healthier (didn't think that was possible), exercises more, and is still as awesome as she was before she was diagnosed...haha. You'll be fine man. Yeah, it will take some getting used to, but in the end you will be fine.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes (semi) about a year ago. It hasn't been that bad. Get an alternative site sensor so that you don't have to prick yourself in the finger and ask about metformine.

Hang in there man. I grew up with it in my family (on both sides) so I'm at risk too. Medicine is getting better & better so the something as small as the shots are simple to deal with

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 7 and I am 23 now. I have an insulin pump so I really don't watch what I eat as much as I used to. You need to look into the pump.. gives you alot more freedom.

My brother has it.
He deserves it though. As soon as he got his own house he became a huge couch potato. Plays videogames until he's too tired. Then goes too bed. Goes too work. Comes home plays more videogames while drinking a case of soda, energy drinks, and chips until he goes too bed and repeats.

Hey it's not as bad as most people make it out to be. My mom, ex-gf, best friend, and even my friggin cat are all diabetic and handle it fine. My mom actually decided a few years ago she was going to lose some weight (she was huge, like 350), was committed, worked hard, and ended up dropping down to about 150. One day she got home from the doctor, and even though they can't technically say she is cured of diabetes, there isn't a trace of it left in her. If you work hard enough, you may be able to get rid of it!
