I'm starting to get into Uncanny X-Men, just wondering what tades I should pick up. So far I have divided we stand ad I am really liking it. After searching amazon I am realizing I maybe should have started with Messiah Complex. Anyway their is a lot of X-men stuff to look for and I really jus have no idea where to really begin. You should start from the Morrison era. These trades, in order, cover most of the major X-Men events, if not all (I may be missing some), since that era. NEW X-MEN VOL. 1 NEW X-MEN VOL. 2 NEW X-MEN VOL. 3(These three giant volumes collect all of Grant Morrison's run on X-Men.)ASTONISHING X-MEN VOL. 1 ASTONISHING X-MEN ENDSONG ASTONISHING X-MEN VOL. 2 ASTONISHING X-MEN VOL. 3 ASTONISHING X-MEN VOL. 4(All of these volumes don't come before House of M, Vol. 4 ends just before Messiah Complex.)HOUSE OF M X-MEN DECIMATION X-MEN DEADLY GENESIS X-MEN ENDANGERED SPECIES
X-MEN SUPERNOVAS X-MEN BLINDED BY THE LIGHT X-MEN MESSIAH COMPLEX X-MEN DIVIDED WE STAND X-MEN MANIFEST DESTINYThen pick up MESSIAH WAR which just ended I believe, and you'll be caught up fairly well from Morrison's New X-Men to now.

Black-HoleWriter: Charles Burns Artist: Charles Burns Publisher: Pantheon Publication Date: 1995-2005 Genre: Horror Black Hole features amazingly detailed and slick artwork that is a throwback to pulp art of the past and 70s horror films such as Halloween, Last House On the Left, and Carrie. It follows the story of "The Bug", an STD that affects and infects teenagers in 1970s Seattle. The way the disease infects each person is unique, for some it shows up as a large rash or a tail; for others its a second mouth or fur. Burns utilizes the themes of awkwardness, fear, and horror the disease brings as a allegory to treat adolescence like a disease. For the time in your life when your body bring several changes and new discoveries the disease brings reinvention to oneself. The Bug reaches into the core of teens self esteem that they are striped and become freaks.

^ you should also pick up a bunch of the Essential X-Men trades as you'll definitely want to read Claremont's classic stuff. some of the best X-Men stories ever are contained in those trades. the whole Days of Future Past, Dark Phoenix Saga, Proteus, Wolverine in Japan, the early Hellfire Club stories, etc, etc. if you like reading X-Men check out the Essential trades.

I was going to pick up the first compilation of the Heroes comic book series, but decided against it after seeing how much it was. Do you guys think it's worth checking out? I have never seen one full episode of the show on NBC.

Ghost Rider is definitely worth reading if you like the character even alittle bit. the series has shifted to a mini that starts in 2 weeks, Heavens On Fire, but after that will revert back to the regular series.

I need some DC recommendations outside of Batman. I'm not a big Superman fan, but I want to get into anything dealing with Luthor as president. Was that a series or just part of the normal run?
Also Marvel wise I'd like to get more into Punisher, Captain America, and Iron Man. Any recommendations?
I hate to be the newbie, but I don't have the commitment to read issue by issue and prefer trades.

Also Marvel wise I'd like to get more into Punisher, Captain America, and Iron Man. Any recommendations? for punisher i'd check out: punisher: barbarian with a gun punisher MAX: from first to last (contains the tyger {which is a great story}, the cell {which is decent} and the end {which is good but a bit extreme} punisher MAX volume 2 - my favourite story of the punisher, just buy it. it's ing amazing. Punisher MAX volume 6: Barracuda - his huge-ass black rival's begginings. no one is more deranged than barracuda. punisher MAX volume 8: widowmaker - gangmember's widows thirst for revenge for their husband's deaths committed by the punisher. sweet book. punisher warzone: the ressurection of ma gnucci - a classic already. punisher: welcome back frank punisher: circle of blood (one of the originals, and a favourite of mine) as for captain america i always LOVED volume 3. for the hell of it, i suggest you check out civil war in it's entierity, and get a feel for the marvel universe and how cool it is to see everything happening at once. it also heavily features captain america and iron man, and you can go from there to where crap is now...and a lot of crap changes inbetween.

The whole Dark Avengers series has been really good, pick it up if you're interested. It's 7 issues in, coming up on its 8th at the end of the month.
