He's the greatest Player to ever play the game, of course he is. He's a special figure, his team will do anything to win for him.

Granted he's had his struggles mate, but in Argentina he is a legend & you can't take away his legacy to the sport.

He is going to completely balls this up. I had read not too long ago in a sport mag where he'd completely changed his life for his daughter. Let's not bugger him just yet.

He's the greatest Player to ever play the game I'm gonna have to disagree with you and say good old Pelé was the best ever, with honourable mentions going to Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Puskas and of course Maradona.

I'm just wondering because most people would say Pele based on his 1281 career goals, but the thing is, most of those goals were scored in non competative games, and the competative goals that he did score were against teams of a lower standard than Santos.

Most people would say Pele because everyone else does. Chances are close to nobody on this board has seen him play apart from a couple of video clips

Romario scored more than Pele. Pele was in the right place at the right time, and in terms of who was a better footballer, it's Diego. Maradona is the best natural footballer to ever play, and the only reason FIFA regard Pele as the number one is because he's a better role model. Johan Cruyff and Beckanbauer were not better than Maradona.
Anyway, I'm close to booking a trip to Hampden Park for this game. The only thing holding me back is that it's the same night as the Germany Game. But, flights and a one night hotel stay is £103 each, and tickets for the game are only £25. Could do a tour of Ibrox too while we're there. Could be a decent little trip.

Johan Cruyff and Beckanbauer were not better than Maradona. Beckenbauer maybe is not better but Cruijff certainly was. Not only did he have more skill than Maradona but he also had a technical mind like no other. As a player he practically took Holland from a team no better than Luxembourg and took them to the world cup final, where Germany had to cheat to win (This was later admitted by a German player). He lead Ajax to three consecutive European cups then left for Barcelona who also helped take them from the bottom of the league to winning the Spanish league. Not to mention he was named world player of the year 3 times. He has a better goals to games ratio than Maradona in both club and international matches. All this without having to cheat or take performance enhancing drugs.
