We are in a beautiful Catholic Church. Angels cover the carefully crafted stained glass windows. The seemingly endless row of pews are empty, there is no mass in session. But there is a man at the alter. Thunder, dressed in a suit, stands at the lectern. He opens the Bible that sits before him and removes the silk bookmark.
May God have mercy on my soul for what I will do to another human being tonight. It is not just my fellow man that I will hurt tonight, but also a man of God. My opponent preaches of the evils of money, but he couldn’t be more wrong. I will prove to him what everyone else knows: people with money rule the world while people like Reverend Shadow just shoot their mouths off. Reverend Shadow, I suggest you get out your Bible and read your favorite psalm. When you’re done, get on your knees and pray to the God above that when our match is over you won’t be eating through a straw. Faith is the only thing you have in your favor tonight. I’m smarter, I’m faster, and I am better in the ring than you wish you could be. You have nothing else going for you, so God better be in your corner tonight. And that is the gospel according to Thunder.
With that, Thunder places the bookmark back in the Bible and places under his arm and begins to walk across the alter. When he reaches the front, he genuflects. The scene cuts away.
