Hardly set the world on fire atm, needless to say he's still one of my favourite players and a shame he'll miss the whole tournament. Lucky Colombia have Jackson Martinez upfront too.

Dunno if there's any truth in it, but I read the other day that the quarter Serbian, quarter Belgian, quarter Albanian and quarter Turk Adnan Januzaj has his sights set on playing for England?!
That is absolute pish, these rules need to be tightened a bit. International football is just like club football, won't be long until countries in recessions and what not will be selling players nationalities.

Surprised there's no talk on the Euros draw yet. Couldn't be bothered to start a new thread. I looked the day before the draw and saw the potential opponents Wales could have and thought it was going to be a bad draw for us and we'd finish 4th/5th place. But when the draw came in this morning I was much relived. As long as Wales do the business against the smaller teams we're a lock on 3rd. However, this is Wales and they do like losing to even smaller teams. But, I have seen them improve in my short time of watching them so I'm hoping we can get third place. Maybe would have liked a big team like Germany or Spain, just because it would have been cool to see them live but at least with Bosnia and Belgium there's a more of a possibility (even if its the smallest) that we might nick something. Then again, even if we get 3rd its quite likely we'll get knocked out in the play-offs, so lots of points would be nice to automatically go through, but yeah that's just hopeful thinking. Fast forward two years time and there'll be no qualification and plenty of disappointment.

Dear me Hodgson, and you wonder why I hate this national team? Senile, biased, old wanker.

Don't know where to start with that England squad. First of all, we don't need 4 GKs. Secondly, what's the point in selecting 3 left-backs other than political reasons? Again, not needed. And then most importantly some of the selections are shocking. How in 's name did Smalling, Cleverley, Townsend and Defoe get in? Smalling is way too inconsistent, Townsend and Defoe have barely even played....and Cleverley. That's all I need to say about him. Boggles the mind.

How can 1 goal 0 assist Andros Townsend get a call up ahead of a guy who is arguably the most inform winger in the whole league, players should be called up by form NOT reputation. I shouldn't even be surprised though, one guy plays in London and the other plays in the North East.

Pleased for Steven Caulker even though his form hasn't been great for us. There's a few in there that are shocking. No surprises though.

Guaranteed at least on Liverpool player will come back injured.

Looks like Cole won't go to the WC. Can see why, Baines has to start if Cole isn't playing and Cole won't offer anything long term whereas Shaw is England's future for 15 years.

Sol Campbell saying he'd have been England captain for 10 years if he was white. Aye, right you are... He never seems to stop the racism card.

Don't think he's really earned his place either whether it's down to injuries or being out of favour, Baines has been the standout left back for the past 2 seasons and will be good for Shaw to get a bit of experience.

I'd definitely start Baines ahead of Cole even if Cole was playing for Chelsea. I'd still take Cole ahead of Shaw though, and drop Cole after the WC once his career is basically done. However, he isn't playing so I couldn't justify him in my 23.

We got the semis and final of Euro 2020. Should be fun.

Absolute bullcrap. I mean really. Why doesn't Wales get the group games? It's the freaking Millennium Stadium.

Don't know why it would have been too much. Surely it was ideal, less air miles for the players. If they're saying 4 is too much, then isn't 3 as well by that reasoning. We should have been in over Baku. It's miles out of the way of the rest of Europe and they could probably (bit of a long guess since I don't know about the country) host a full tournament. The tournament is all about giving matches to countries where they wouldn't be able to stage it, Wales suits the bill perfectly.

Baku is in Azerbijan, do you really think they can host a full tournament? Also applying for this doesn't mean you can't host a full tournament - the favourites to host 2028 are us, yet we have the final in 2020 too. The format has to be inclusive into the whole of Europe, so they wanted at least 1 QF to be in the East which imo is fair enough. The Millennium Stadium would probably get a couple of matches up to QFs if we win 2028 (as they would've had we won 2018) because its so close to England (Germany will host 2024 probably and its stadiums are much further apart than that) and we are the same country really.

Like I said I don't know much about Baku, so I'm probably picking on them unfairly. Really I should be picking on the Scots. I'm just a bitter Welshman because it was made out like we had at least the group stages in the bag.

The recent qualifiers have been really enjoyable for a change. Mainly the ones not involving England.
It helps that they're now played on different days, so that more focus is placed on each one. The home nations have all laid good foundations for a possible Euro 2016 qualification.
