Just recently manage to catch RAW. And during mention of John Cena during the Jericho promo, there was still quite a bit of negative reactions from the crowd.
WWE have tried keeping him out the title picture, it hasn't worked, he has been out for a lengthy period of time due to injury, and the fans still don't care for him even though they haven't seen him in a while.
What can the 'E' do? I mean besides turn him heel, obviously they don't want to do that because of all the money that they pull in from little kids buying his crap. Which I suppose from a business point of view is good, but at the same time something needs to be done to get the desired face reaction that he once had.
I personally dislike Cena, but at the same time I wonder how and if the WWE can pull this one off, with him returning in his home town (Or at least someone told me that) he should get a good face reaction which will work well for him.
Also, who thinks he will be given the strap? Personally I don't think he will get it just yet, neither do I want him too.

Have him rap again and cut funny promos. Nobody likes serious Cena these days.

I don't see him being a baby face by the end of SvS

hmm, interesting idea. They should try having him feud with someone who will get heat regardless like Kozlov, Mark Henry, Snitsky, Mike Knox. He also needs to be off Raw.

I don't know where they can go to keep Cena fresh. He's basically been the same for a longtime now and feuded with all top heels and top babyfaces. I think it'd be cool if he turned heel, but it won't happen.

They need to align Cena fully with Cryme Tyme and just have them be a damn stable already. Their gimmicks fit each other perfectly and they seem to have enough of a chemistry to actually bring a viable faction back to WWE.

Turn him and Cryme Tyme full heels.
If Cena doesn't turn heel, he's gonna be booed out of buildings for years to come. I don't see WWE going for it though, it seems like they just want desperately for people to like John Cena again. Face it WWE, nobody likes the "marine/poopy/saluting/etc" John Cena.

The promo videos they have been running are meant to get fans to like Cena again. And tbh, I'm starting to be a fan.

Give him one of these:
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar John Cena as of Nov. 20, 2008. WWE wishes him the best in all future endeavors.

He will probably win the title in a rematch at Armageddon.

Have him align with Jericho at SurSer.
A Y2J/Cena/Cryme Tyme stable would be wicked.

I don't know what they can do because people hate him in general.
I hope he goes heel eventually because he has been face for a long time.
He also better not win the title at Survivor Series.

Cena is the guy that WWE relies on to not only sell merchandise but also be an ambassador to the company - to visit the sick kids who idolise him, to do lots of PR etc. Turning him heel would undo all that. Plus the audience that WWE are now aiming at are not the fans that boo Cena, but the kids that love him. If Cena did turn heel, the people that boo him now would cheer him like they did the last time he was a heel.
Plus, turning Cena heel on Raw gives him one fresh uppercard opponent - Rey Mysterio. It's not worth it on any level.

Get rid of the "marine persona" the salute, dry SCRIPTED speeches in his ANGRY SERIOUS voice, let him actually show his wrestling skill set is bigger than 4 1/2 moves.Have it where he maybe has the I.C. title for awhile( might help put some more emphisis on that title. Side with crime tyme. This would be cool CM Punk vs Orton,Cena vs Manu(umaga clone),Cryme Tyme vs Priceless. ;D
