Hello everyone. I actually grew up with MEGO's(yeah i know, i'm old) anywhoo, i sold off my POTA collection when i needed cash & was hoping to one day pick up at least one again for old times sake. i had seen the re-issued star trek mego's in a comic shop & hoped for apes. well today the wait was over...  i think they did a phenomenal job of making this completely collector friendly including retro packaging & a protective plastic clamshell. thought i'd share. one complaint...there were 5 figures in the original line: 1)soldier ape, 2)cornelius, 3)zira, 4) dr.zaius, 5)astronaut. later on with the success of the tv show they added general urko/ursus, galen(which was just cornelius), pete, & allen.(tv astronauts) as you can see by the packaging...only four. no astronaut but still very cool nonetheless & a great keepsake. came out to $18.52 with the 10% discount wednesday @ my local comic shop but worth it for such a fantastic exclusive. |

My brother had these. I used to strap them to my skateboard & launch them down a very steep street. Needless to say, there were always casualties.
Looks like I'm getting these for him for Christmas.

First let me say I had pretty much every male Superhero they had made including the Teen Titans. All the PotA Minus Urko (who I really wanted), all Star Trek, Robin Hood (just Robin), Legends of the West Davey Crockett, Starsky & Hutch (Starsky) Action Jackson...LJN - SWAT (All), The Rookies (All),Emergancy (All). Playsets/vehicles - Batcave, Enterprise, Batmobile, Green Arrow car SWAT van. But I gave almost all of it along with my old 12" Joes, Legend of the Lone Ranger, LJN wrestlers & Big Jim figures to my cousins. (Biggest regret) What I kept- Removable cowl Batman Regular Batman Robin Green Arrow Aquaman Regular Superman Kirk Spock SWAT (All) Rookies (Terry & Mike) Here's a quick pic. It's usually not this cluttered, but every year I loose shelf space for Christmas decorations (which we started putting up yesterday)  |

Removable cowl Batman? that is super rare along with the removable mask robin. there was also a wayne manor that came with bruce wayne & dick grayson. really bringing some memories back. i had a bunch. the apes however were the prize of my collection. i had every soldier ape varient. both generals, the treehouse, along with multiples of zaius, galen,cornelius, & zira. also pete & allan, along with the generic astronaut. had a MOC unpunched ursus. plus a ton of books, models, parachuters, and just too much to list. including the metal lunchbox +1 for pics |

Yeah I didn't have the Montgomory Ward(?) Bruce & Dick figures, but I did have the Aquaman with Great White Shark. So far who was re-released in the Apes line? Soldier Ape, Cornelius, & Zira? I've picked up the Star Trek Kirk, but will get these when I see them.

Saw the aquaman/great white shark today on the megomuseum website. awesome site for megos. if u havent been there, check it out. great pics & stuff. as far as the ape re-issues. they're being released in pairs. soldier ape & cornelius first then zaius & zira. who knows? maybe we'll get the astronaut & ursus afterall? |
