Not arguing your statement slappy but I thought it was when we had 4 quarters of negative growth. Reading the article it just sounds like a panel of people have just said we are in a recession with no charts or facts of negative growth

Hmmmm I dunno, nor do I really care anymore at this point. Wonder if there is a way to see the economic growth/decline by states? It seems since about middle October more people around here have gone out to eat, shop and etc. Maybe just the holidays

Got that from the NY Times. Same around here, seems like nothing changed.

Doesn't surprise me. America is going into another Depression. I wish Obama the best. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong if he gets our Ecnomy better. But. I don't see that happening anytime soon. R.I.P U.S.A.

I dont see us going into a depression like back in the 20s. If nothing else because the stock market isnt able to bottom out anymore. This is just a recession, while not good its not the first one in my life time (25 years) that we've had

A recession is two quarters of negative growth. That's the textbook definition. Honestly, if we're in a recession, I just don't really see it. I think it's more hype than anything. I'm not losing my job. I have more money in the bank than I did this time last year. I blew out a tire on my car today (will post pics later) and it'll cost me about $200 to replace, but I'll pay for it in cash and still have money to spare. I'm just not all that worried.

But you have to look at the whole picture not just yourself. Just because you are not hurting does not mean that others are not.

The video game industry doesn't seem to be feeling it at all. I have to agree with Hulk a little. I do see people hurting but most of it is their own fault. Unemployment is at what? 7%. Not sure if things are as bad as they seem. I'm poor by the way. But I'm working my way through school as well.

In my eyes back in the summertime when gas was $4 a gallon that was a ression. This is nothing. Althought last year this time black friday at work we turned $11,000. This year $8,000. Still solid but not lived up to projections.

Actually , I think unemployment is at about 6%, but I don't know and can't look it up right now. All I know is I went to the mall on Black Friday and coudln't find a place to park anywhere. I had to park 1/2 a mile away from the door. If it's a recession, it's not stopping people from spending money like it's going out of style.

The media also blows this out of the water. People it's not a Black/White Thing. It's a Rich/Poor Thing. Honestly. Point Blank. We have men playing FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, AND BASEBALL. Making Millons and Millions of Dollars. We have $77 Billion to bail out the Stock Market! Yet. People can't get off their fat lazy asses and find jobs! I'm 16. I work at DQ. Honestly. It doesn't take an idiot to work there or McDonalds and make $7.10 an hour and make a living! Jesus people!

Besides the outsourcing of jobs, it is the rising costs of everything. $700 billion bailout. The rich and well off are getting richer and doing better and everyone else is ed.

Now I'm being serious. The rich are always getting richer and the poor are always getting poorer. So it has been since the beginning of time and so it will be 'til the end of time. It's the way the world works.
