Apparently Marvel has not learned that a perfectly good thing that might even be revered by fans long into the future can be ruined by a lackluster followup. Add "Marvels" to the list, along with Marvel Zombies and the Age Of Apocalypse, of perfectly good stories that will forever come with the foul taste of an uneccesary sequel/follow up/tie-in.

Well, is it being done by Busiek himself, so it has the potential to be a perfectly fine sequel. I'd be angry if neither Busiek nor Ross were tied to it, but as long as Busiek is writing it, it can't suck too bad.

That said, but Kirkman is no Busiek.
With Busiek at the helm, I refuse to peg this as a tragedy in the making. With or without Ross, Busiek is just too good to immediately write this project off as a doomed failure.

I wouldn't agree with Marvel Zombies. The first one sucked.

I wouldn't agree with Marvel Zombies. The first one sucked. I liked it, but I'd have a much more favorable opinion on it if the sensation ended there.

Well, today opening the boxes from the shipment I was counting off stuff and read out loud to my friend "Marvels: The Sequel Nobody Asked For."

I bought issue 1 to give it a fair chance. The artist is pretty Alex Ross-y, but the story just seems misplaced. "Oh noes, there are mutants!" was already covered in Marvels. And that last page totally reeked of "Matt, I have AIDS!!!"
