March 6th, 2009 Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada Attendance: 7,016
We open with a video package showing the events that went down between Kane & The Undertaker involving Kane chokeslamming his brother off the ramp.
After the opening firework display, Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to this week’s Smackdown! They hype up tonight’s main event between The Undertaker and Edge! They also remind us that there will be two Money in the Bank Qualifying matches tonight.
Money in the Bank Qualifying Match Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. Shelton Benjamin
The crowd was firmly behind the veteran, Finlay. Both he and Shelton worked hard in this one as Shelton seemed to keep getting the better of Finlay, but Finlay would capitalize on a few of Shelton’s mistakes. That led him to a few near falls. The “Gold Standard” was getting frustrated at this and seemed to be on the verge of making another mistake, but he kept his cool and finished off the fighting Irishman with the Paydirt.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin (8:45) ***
Post match, Shelton got on the microphone and said that he has his eyes set on the top prize on Smackdown…the WWE Championship. His first step was tonight and he completed it. Step two will be to win Money in the Bank at WrestleMania and the final step will be to take home “the mother load.”
Commercial Break.
We come back from commercial to see our WWE Champion, Jeff Hardy on the titantron. He cut a very interesting and long promo about his past with Edge. He mentioned everything they’ve been through, from TLC matches to Edge’s whole issue with his brother Matt and everything in between. The crowd ate it up and Hardy was sporting some awesome facepaint.
Commercial Break.
Edge is shown backstage bursting into Vickie & Shane’s office. He said that he’s pissed off about having to face ‘Taker tonight. He pleads with Vickie to do something about it but Shane cuts him off and says that their match is going to happen tonight, no matter what. He also says that he heard Vickie say last week that she would have help for Edge so he’s barring Umaga from ringside. Vickie gets upset; especially that Shane knew who she was turning to for help. Shane then says that tonight’s match will be held under No Disqualification rules.
Non-Title Singles Match United States Champion Hurricane Helms vs. R-Truth
R-Truth was making his return from his 30 day suspension and he looked good in the ring. The Brian Kendrick was doing the color commentary during this match and midway through; he announced that he would be appearing on Raw this Monday, to take on Kofi Kingston in a Money in the Bank Qualifier. The real story was the US Champion, who looked awesome in his first match since winning the title. He nailed all his spots perfectly and ended this with the Shining Wizard.
Winner: United States Champion Hurricane Helms (7:28) **½
The champion stared down The Brian Kendrick as we cut to commercial.
Commercial Break.
The announcement of British Bulldog being the next Hall of Fame inductee is shown, followed by the announcement that his son, Harry Smith will be inducting him.
This leads to us being shown the New Hart Foundation in the back. TJ Wilson and Natalya both congratulate Harry on the announcement that his dad will be in the Hall of Fame. He thanks them and says that they have a number one contender’s tag match tonight and they need to focus on that. Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella appear in the shot and they introduce themselves to Wilson & Smith. Natalya says that tonight the world will get a preview of what she & Beth teaming together will look like and they both smirk as they head towards the ring area.
Divas Tag Team Match The Bella Twins vs. Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix & Divas Champion Natalya w/ Santino Marella
The poor Bella Twins must be wondering what they did wrong to be booked in this match. Beth and Natalya dominated the match and proved why they are the dominant females in the WWE. The Twins got in a little offense but they didn’t even get to make the hot tag. Natalya closed this out when she hit Nikki with a sitout powerbomb, while Beth locked Brie in a submission.
Winners: Divas Champion Natalya & Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix (5:15) **
The champions posed in the ring after the match and Beth said something about Raw this week to which Natalya nodded her head “yes.”
Commercial Break.
We are joined by “The Game” Triple H, who comes to the ring and looks like he means business. He gets on the microphone and begins to talk about how he was attacked again last week by Umaga. He said that he’s sick and tired of that happening and he calls out Shane McMahon. When Shane comes out, Triple H gets straight to the point and asks for a match with Umaga at WrestleMania. Shane said that it’s a great idea and ironically, Vickie wants this match too because she thinks it’ll be the end of you. But she doesn’t know that Shane made a stipulation for the match. Because at WrestleMania 25, it will be Triple H and Umaga ending their war, in a Hell in a Cell! Triple H likes the idea and the crowd goes crazy.
Commercial Break.
Money in the Bank Qualifying Match Mr. Kennedy vs. Montel Vontavious Porter
This turned out to be the show stealer on this episode of Smackdown. Both men worked their butts off. MVP started off the match hot, hitting a few big moves but Kennedy took over and began to dominate. He worked over MVP neck with a neckbreaker and a neck wrench. MVP took back the upper hand when he caught Kennedy running at him and nailed a snap overhead belly-to-belly suplex. MVP then hit his running big boot in the corner, Kennedy fell out and MVP hit his “Ballin” elbow drop. He waited for Kennedy to get up and he hit him with the Drive-By for the win.
Winner: Montel Vontavious Porter (11:01) ***¼
Commercial Break.
We are shown the announcement that Endeverafter will be at WrestleMania 25 to perform Jeff Hardy’s theme song.
Number One Contendership for WWE Tag Team Champions Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder vs. The New Hart Foundation
Both teams seemed to really want this title shot as they came out firing. Ryder and Wilson stayed in the ring for the most part and both did really well. The crowd struggled to get into it as both teams are heels but they seemed to be more into the Foundation. Hawkins and Ryder both tried to cheat and win when they Hawkins pulled the tights and Ryder put his feet on the ropes, but both times they only got a two count. The finish came when Wilson and Smith pulled out the Hart Attack clothesline on Hawkins to gain the victory.
Winners: The New Hart Foundation (7:09) **½
Carlito and Primo were at the top of ramp watching the match and Smith and Wilson pointed at them and stared them down. Then we cut to see Edge walking towards the ring area.
Commercial Break.
No Disqualification Singles Match Edge vs. The Undertaker
What a great main event. These two showed exactly why they were the main event at WrestleMania a year ago. They went back and forth for the majority the the match until Edge brought in a chair. He nailed ‘Taker in the back a few times. He went outside and set up a table but when he got back in, ‘Taker took control and hit “Old School”. He called for the end of the match, but fire went off in the arena and out came Kane and Paul Bearer. He got in the ring and him and ‘Taker traded shots until ‘Taker got the best and knocked his brother down. He turned around right into a Spear though a table that was set up in the corner and Edge covered for the win.
Winner: Edge (13:15) ***¾
Edge left the ring celebrating and Kane got back inside. He picked his brother up and chokeslammed him from the ring, onto the table on the outside. For the second straight week, Smackdown goes off the air with Kane looking down on his brother’s broken body.

That WrestleMania XXV card is pretty awesome, man. I don't think anyone would have seen a fatal four-way for the World Heavyweight Championship coming. The match that has me interested the most, though, is the Money in the Bank. I've got my fingers crossed for Benjamin to win. So far, this diary has been very good. Nice work, my friend. Thanks for the reply to my Kaval diary.

I am thinking the SD logo is a little too big. You should try resizing it. Thank god, Finlay didn't get in the Money in the Bank. Let's see what Benjamin's going to do this year? The Benjamin promo sounded realistic. The Hardy promo sounded awesome. Awesome match between Helms and R-Truth. I would have taken R-Truth over Helms, but I still loved the results. Awesome to see Bulldog in the HOF. The divas match was decent. Loved the Triple H promo. MVP getting into the MITB is awesome. Hopefully he wins. Main Event was awesome. Glad Edge won. Nice description of the match. Wrestle-Mania 25 sounds awesome. I think it is too unrealistic to have a Hell in the Cell and a Money in the Bank Ladder match on the same night. The poster looks good too. Loving the WM 25 card. Keep it up. Thanks for the reply in my Dynasty, by the way.

Good win for Shelton to start the show. Still loving his push. I hope he wins MITB. Hope Helms eventually drops the strap. Wondering where the Beth/Natalya pair will lead. Maybe to a match with Trish at Mania? Really don't like the idea of a HIAC match at Wrestlemania, I just couldn't see it happening. Glad MVP qualified and not Kennedy. HF winning made sense. Edge winning made sense since the focus went on Kane/Taker after. Solid show besides the HIAC announcement.

Yeah, I can definitely see Shelton Benjamin winning Money in the Bank this year. Which would be fantastic if it indeed does happen. Not digging the Hell in a Cell match stipulation at Wrestlemania, I mean, if The Undertaker was involved and it was the main event, then maybe but neither of those things are hapening. Speaking of Undertaker, he hasn't got a mania match yet. But it looks like you're going with Kane vs The Undertaker, which, while it works will be their third Wrestlemania match and definitely Kane's third loss to his brother at the event. Still going with Elijah Burke to win the ECW Championship, not really digging Punk/Burchill being on the card but I did love RVD/Regal at mania 18 so what ever. Hope it opens the show anyway and is followed by Money in the Bank. I actually hope Jeff Hardy retains the WWE championship and dare I say it, Batista wins the World Championship.

Decent opener, yes Shelton picking up the win and now in MITB. You're MITB is shaping up to be really awesome, all kinds of great talent. Anyone could win it, really, which is a good thing. Liked the US match but not sure about Helms as US Champion. A good defence against R-Truth though. HHH/Umaga in a HIAC is interesting, although I just don't see that as a Mania match. Main Event was great, suprised but glad Edge got the win.

- I wonder if Benjamin will get to win the MITB? He always puts on a great show and it would be a great surprise if he were to win. - Helms winning works for me. Not a fan of R-Truth character. Turn him into Ron Killings and that’d be interesting to see. - Diva’s match, meh. Time filer I assume. - MVP entering the MITB works for me. I hope Kennedy gets a push at some point. - New Hart Foundation FTW. Glad to see they are number one contenders. - Taker/Kane feud? I don’t know about that. Edge winning is good to see though, seemed like a good finish with the table spot. - Wrestle Mania is STACKED. I cant wait to read that show.

Raw Preview for 3/9/09
-Last week, after Randy Orton defeated "The Animal" Batista, John Cena came to save the day after Legacy attempted to beat down the big man. Instead of a thank you, Batista delivered a spinebuster to the champ. What will happen between these two this week?
-For the third straight week, two of the four participants in the World Title Match at WrestleMania 25 will go at it in one-on-one competition. This week it will be Randy Orton taking on Chris Jericho!
-Plus, the World Tag Team Titles will be on the line and we will witness another Money in the Bank qualifying match!

March 9th, 2009 E Center in West Valley City, Utah Attendance: 9,106
Raw opens this week with a video package showing how last week’s episode ended. It showed Orton beating Batista and Legacy attempting to beat him down. Then it showed John Cena coming to make the save, but Batista delivering a spinebuster to him.
Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole welcome us to Raw after the opening pyro finishes going off. They remind us of tonight’s main event which features Randy Orton & Chris Jericho. They are cut off by the music of the World Champion, John Cena.
Cena gets in the ring and cuts a typical promo of his. He says that he’s going to do all he can to retain his title at WrestleMania and that he’s upset about last week. He said that he understands that Batista & him aren’t friends or anything like that, but he feels that Batista had no right to give him a spinebuster in the middle of the ring if Cena was just trying to help. This brought out Batista who got right in the champ’s face. He grabbed the microphone and said that he warned Cena last week. He told Cena that he would do whatever it took to get the advantage on the champ. Both men looked ready to explode but Stephanie McMahon came out and told them to cool off and save it for next week, when it would be their turn to have their one on one contest. Batista said that he beat him once before at SummerSlam, and he’ll be happy to do it again next week.
Commercial Break.
We return to the announcement that Mickey Rourke, who starred in the hit movie “The Wrestler”, will be in attendance at WrestleMania where he will be a special guest ring announcer. Michael Cole says that the stars are indeed coming out for ‘Mania as Rourke joins Mr. T, Saliva & Endeverafter as special guests.
Money in the Bank Qualifying Match Kofi Kingston vs. The Brian Kendrick w/ Ezekiel Jackson
A great way to kick off Raw as these two athletes delivered a fast paced opener. Both men showed that they have great potential and that they would both make great additions to the Money in the Bank match. The crowd was behind Kofi strongly during this match and he seemed to be on target to pick up the win when he nailed Kendrick with a monkey flip. He went for his patented double leg drop but Ezekiel tripped him up. The referee proceeded to throws Ezekiel out and Kofi turned around right into The Brian Kendrick who hit The Kendrick for the win.
Winner: The Brian Kendrick (8:03) ***
Commercial Break.
We see Chris Jericho arriving at the arena and he has a smug look on his face. Then we cut to another video package, like last week’s, showing The Technicians training to get better. It says that they will be back after WrestleMania.
World Tag Team Championship John Morrison & The Miz (c) vs. The Second City Saints
Miz and Morrison turn in another stellar tag title defense, just like they did at No Way Out. The Saints had the crowd behind them all the way and they seem to be way over. The match itself went back and forth for a while until Morrison nailed Steel with a springboard kick to the back of the head. This led to Steel getting dominated until he made the hot tag to Goldman. He came in and took control of the match until Miz managed to hit him with the Reality Check from out of nowhere to retain the titles.
Winners and Still World Tag Team Champions: John Morrison & The Miz (9:09) ***
The Saints have come up short in both of their attempts at John Morrison and The Miz. They look stressed out about their loss as they leave.
We cut to the back where The Brian Kendrick is dancing around in the backstage area, celebrating his victory. He's stopped by Rey Mysterio who tells him that there's nothing to dance about until someone actually climbs and wins Money in the Bank. Kendrick doesn't like Mysterio interuptting his celebration so he challenges him to a match on Raw next week. Mysterio accepts and looks at Kendrick weirdly when he goes back to dancing.
Commercial Break.
We come back to a video package showing the next inductee to the 2009 Hall of Fame class. It’s none other than Howard Finkle, who will join "Mean" Gene Okerlund and Jim Ross as announcers who make the Hall of Fame. He will be inducted by Chris Jericho.
Legacy is shown backstage. Cody Rhodes is telling Manu about his opportunity at Money in the Bank. Orton tells Cody & Manu that tonight is more important than Money in the Bank. Tonight, he’s going to prove that he is the man who will win the Four Way match at WrestleMania as he will defeat the second of his three opponents in one on one action. He wants Rhodes and Manu by his side and he wants their focus to be on that match and that match only.
Shawn Michaels is shown walking towards the ring area.
Commercial Break.
We are joined by the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels. He gets on the microphone and begins to talk about WrestleMania. He says that he plans on getting the giant monkey that is JBL off his back finally. He says that he plans to prove to JBL that he truly is “Mr. WrestleMania.” This brings out JBL who says that the career and legacy of “Mr. WrestleMania” will be coming to an end very soon, but Shawn should be worried about the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 25. Just like this week, where JBL has been booked to take on Shawn. Michaels looks surprised and pleased at this news as he thought he had to wait until ‘Mania to get his hands on JBL. JBL walks halfway down the ramp before announcing that he will be taking on Michaels right now, but he’ll have a partner and out comes Paul Burchill and his sister, Katie Lea.
Commercial Break.
Handicap Match Shawn Michaels vs. John Bradshaw Layfield & Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea
We returned from commercial to see this match already underway. Michaels had no help whatsoever because Burchill’s top rival at the moment, CM Punk, is not in attendance tonight. The two teammates worked over HBK for the majority of the match until JBL went for the Clothesline from Hell, but Michaels ducked and JBL caught Burchill. This led to Michaels and JBL trading fists, back and forth. Michaels knocked him down with a big Lou Thez Press and began to tune up the band. Burchill got up and ran at him and got hit with Sweet Chin Music. Michaels turned around right into a Clothesline from Hell.
Winners: JBL & Paul Burchill (8:13) **
Commercial Break.
The World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and The Miz are interviewed. They talk about how they truly are the greatest tag team of the 21st Century. They said they proved it when they beat Punk & Kofi. They proved it when they beat the “Technicians” at No Way Out. And they showed it again tonight, by taking out The Second City Saints.
Divas Match Mickie James vs. Jillian Hall
This turned out to be your basic Divas match. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. Each woman hit their usual spots and Mickie pulled out the win when he hit Jillian with the Mickie-DT.
Winner: Mickie James (3:37) *½
After the match, Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix and Divas Champion Natalya ran down to the ring and attacked both Mickie and Jillian. They completely took out both women until Melina made her way down. She fought off both champions until her 2-on-1 disadvantage took over. This brought out Gail Kim, who made the save as she & Melina knocked the champs to the outside. Melina got on the microphone and said that Natalya and Beth kept saying they’re the most dominant females in the WWE, so they should prove it in a tag match against herself and Gail Kim at WrestleMania! The crowd likes the idea as Beth and Natalya both nod their heads yes.
Commercial Break.
Singles Match Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton w/ Cody Rhodes & Manu
These two went at it a few weeks back on Raw and it turned out to be a great match. This week was no different. Despite both men being heels, they had the crowd going back and forth as to who they cheered for. Both men took any cheap advantage they could as they both tried to pull each other’s tights or put their feet on the ropes during pinfall attempts. Jericho seemed on the verge of victory as he nailed Orton with a lionsault, but the Viper kicked out. Just then, Batista ran down to the ring and dropped both men with spinebusters to the biggest ovation of the night.
No Contest (11:18) ***¼
Batista just seemed to be in a foul mood and he took it out on Jericho and Orton. Rhodes and Manu ran in and they got the same treatment. This brought out John Cena who got straight in the ring and traded lefts and rights with the Animal. They went back and forth until Cena ducked a punch and dropped Batista with an FU as the show went off the air with Michael Cole hyping up Cena & Batista’s match for next week.

A good Raw show. Nice opening promo with Baista and Cena. Kendrick getting in MITB is meh, I would've rather Kofi in. Didn't like the HBK promo tbh. Enjoyed reading his handicap match. Nice main event with Jericho and Orton going at it. Ending made Tista look strong. I hope Orton wins the title at Mania, the match is getting alot of build and starting to get interesting. I can't tell who might win that one.

Like what you are doing there with Cena & Batista. They should eventually have a rematch, but I think next week is sort of wasting it. Think Kofi would be a better MITB fit but I can't complain about TBK being in. Liked Miz/Morrison retaining the gold. Heh, funny to see KEndrick dancing around backstage. Realistic segment backstage with Orton there. Disagree with the decision to have JBL & HBK in the same match like this. Women's tag match at Mania is decent, best you can probably do with the divas at this point. Good ending to Raw to leave people to want to see Batista/Cena next week, although I still think it's a waste of that match. Good show though overall.

Wow this diary has been going on for a while. I read Raw and Smackdown. The feud between Batista/Cena/Orton/Jericho is very intriguing and I never thought that it would be a fatal four way at Wrestlmania. I don't know who your leaning towards in your booking either, hopefully one of the heels. Edge/Hardy feud is also very good so far, and I hope Hardy wins. I don't know much about your ECW but Hardy/Burke sounds like it would be a great match for ECW. I also really like what your doing with Kane/Taker, even though it isn't on the card yet. I think Hell in a Cell is more of a Summerslam thing than a Wrestlemania thing, but that's just me. Hopefully you put JBL over Michaels for a change because everyone else is putting HBK over. MITB is shaping up well, but I hope you put Kofi in there with some sort of last chance battle royal or something. Good to see the IC title be defended at WM. Not sure if Burchill should be the guy to challenge, but I guess it works. I thought you were going to make it so the Divas and Womens championships were going to unify in some sort of fatal four way, but the tag match works too. I like all of your HOF choices, except Lou Albino. He is already in the HOF and has been for years. Good job.

- Opening segment, was good - Kendrick in the MITB is awesome. - Tag Title match seemed to be a great match. Expecting huge things for the second city saints. - Kendrick/Rey …. Hell Yeah! - Glad to see HBK lose the handicap match. So many times people win handicap matches. - Finish to the main event made sense, and Batista pissed off is a good thing. - Good show.
