ECW 4/28/09 Preview-Two nights ago at Backlash, ECW Champion Elijah Burke retained his Championship in an Extreme Rules match against former Champion, Matt Hardy. Now with Matt behind him, Burke needs a new number one contender. ECW's two biggest draft picks, Rey Mysterio & Mr. Kennedy, both made claims that they want a title shot and they'll get their chance tonight. They'll go one on one with the winner facing Burke for the ECW Title at Judgment Day! Which new member of the brand will get the first crack at the ECW Title? -Tommy Dreamer enlisted the help of Matt Hardy last night on Raw, in his quest to stop whatever plans The Brood have. They have promised to call out The Brood tonight. What will happen when these men collide? And will Dreamer and Hardy be able to stop them? -With John Morrison being drafted away to Smackdown, The Miz is now all alone in ECW. In a special edition of The Dirt Sheet earlier today, The Miz stated that he will be going after the Television Title to start his singles career. Tonight though, he'll be teaming with the TV Champion, Jack Swagger to take on Gavin Spears and ECW draft pick, Hurricane Helms. With all four of these men in the Television Title ranks, the man who scores the pinfall here could be vaulted to a title shot. Or can Swagger get the win and continue his dominance? Find out all of this and more by tuning into Sci-Fi at 9PM!!

April 28th, 2009 Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey Attendance: 19,968
This week’s edition of ECW opens with a video package showing the events that took place at Backlash during the Extreme Rules ECW Title match. Then it shows Tommy Dreamer asking for Matt Hardy’s help against The Brood and the video finishes by showing ECW’s new superstars that were acquired in the draft.
Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcome us to New Jersey and tonight’s show. They hype up tonight’s main event, Mr. Kennedy vs. Rey Mysterio and it’s a number one contender’s match to determine Elijah Burke’s opponent at Judgment Day. ECW officials chose these two men to be in the number one contender’s match because of their success on their former brands and Burke has stated that he needs new competition because he says that he’s run over the ECW roster already.
We are joined by Tommy Dreamer and Matt Hardy, who come to the ring and get on the microphone.
Tommy Dreamer: You know, I’ve been a part of ECW for over a decade. I’m the last ECW Original remaining and I’m damn proud of that. ECW is my passion, my life and I will be damned if it’s going to be taken over by some new blood. I promise each and every fan of ECW, that I will do everything in my power to stop this potential takeover from happening.
Matt Hardy: Now I haven’t been around ECW as long as Tommy has and I’m not an ECW Original like Tommy is. But the one main thing that we have in common is that neither of us wants to see ECW be taken over. I’ve had my best success as a member of this brand and I’ve felt more at home here than on either Raw or Smackdown, so it will be my pleasure to help Tommy and stop The Brood.
Then, The Brood’s theme music hits but they don’t come to the ring or stage. The music’s volume is lowered and we hear Kevin Thorn’s voice over the loud speakers.
Kevin Thorn: Tommy Dreamer…Matt Hardy…no matter how hard either of you try to stop us, your efforts are futile. We will be successful in our take over and I will become ECW Champion along the way. Before we get to dealing with you two, we have our sights set on somebody else. Someone new to ECW, and by taking this person out, we will have made our biggest impact yet.
Their theme music plays again as Dreamer and Matt look confused about who The Brood is now targeting.
Commercial Break.
We return to see Teddy Long and Tiffany in the back. Long talks about how good he feels after ECW’s draft picks. He said that Kennedy and Mysterio are going to prove tonight that they are fantastic draft picks. Elijah Burke walks into the office. He says that at Backlash, he once again proved that he’s the best, and he proved it again by winning ECW a draft pick on Raw last night. Long thanks him for winning a draft pick but tells him that he may face that pick he got them, Rey Mysterio, at Judgment Day for the ECW Title. Burke says its fine with him, because nobody will take his ECW Title.
Tag Team Match Hurricane Helms & Gavin Spears vs. Television Champion Jack Swagger & The Miz
Three threats to the Television Title and the champion himself were involved in this tag match. Miz made it known on a special final episode of The Dirt Sheet today, that he was going to go after the Television Title. Swagger once again looked dominant as he was in control whenever he was in the ring, while Spears continues to rise up the ranks, as he managed to hang tough with Swagger. In the end though, new ECW star, Hurricane Helms managed to pick up the win for his team when he hit Miz with a Shining Wizard.
Winners: Hurricane Helms & Gavin Spears (7:01) **½
Commercial Break.
Singles Match Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jimmy Wang Yang
Two new acquisitions to ECW’s roster went at it in one on one competition. Sadly though, this turned out to be nothing more than a short squash as Ezekiel just dominated this match and finished off Yang with his back breaker rack.
Winner: Ezekiel Jackson (3:52) *¾
Commercial Break.
We then cut to another video package like last week’s, and it reminds people of the old school ECW Pulp Fiction promos. We hear from DJ Gabriel, who has undergone a face turn. Also, Chavo Guerrero promises to get back into contention for a title, Santino Marella informs us all that nobody’s more extreme than him, Hardcore Holly reminds us that he’s hardcore, Dolph Ziggler introduces himself and lastly, Mark Henry doesn’t care about anybody new that joined ECW because it’s still his domain.
Commercial Break.
Number One Contender’s Match Mr. Kennedy vs. Rey Mysterio
ECW’s newest top stars put on a great main event as they both seemed to really want that ECW Title shot at Judgment Day. The crowd started out behind Mysterio more than they were behind Kennedy but after some solid action, they seemed to begin pulling for Kennedy. Both men hit their signature spots and Kennedy even nailed the Green Cay Plunge, but Mysterio kicked out. Mysterio then hit a big hurricanrana and then went to the top rope. He leaped off and went for the West Coast Pop, but Kennedy caught him and slammed him down with a powerbomb. He covered, yet only got a two count again. He set up for the Mic Check, but Mysterio blocked it and hit a drop toe hold. He followed it up with a 619. He went for his springboard splash, but Kennedy moved out of the way. They both got up at the same time, and Kennedy quickly locked him in a small package for the three count.
Winner: Mr. Kennedy (10:18) ***¼
Kennedy and Mysterio shake hands after the match. Kennedy leaves the ring and Elijah Burke comes to the top of the ramp and stares down Kennedy. Suddenly the lights in the arena go out. After about thirty seconds they come back on and Rey Mysterio is laid out in the middle of the ring and he’s covered in blood. The announcers conclude that Mysterio must have been who The Brood was talking about. Kennedy and officials get in the ring to check on him.

ECW Was a solid read, Kev.
- Opening promo from Tommy Dreamer and Matt Hardy was well writen, I'd love to see Hade Vandsen and Tyler Black win the tag titles in the future of this diary. - Opening contest was a solid tag match, surprised somewhat of who went over but I would of been happy either way. - Jackson squash works, shame Jimmy had to do be the squashed guy. - Main event was solid, surprised Kennedy won but another match were I would of been happy either way. - The Brood attacking Mysterio was awesome, I see a Brood vs Hardy/Dreamer/Mysterio match coming along.

Good opening segment, you're making Thorn seem legit. Swagger felt a little out of place in that match I thought. Zeke squash was fine, expect more to come. Kennedy/Burke sounds like it'll be a good match. Good ending there with the attack on Mysterio. Kennedy/Burke and Thorn/Rey should make for good feuds right now.

- I really enjoy the fact that Thorn is getting a major role on ECW. I’ve always liked him. - Helms picking up the win works for me. I do know who Spears is, I believe I said I didn’t before. Saw him on a Ballpark Brawl show. - I’m sensing EJ will be getting a monster push. - Pretty big main event, and it seemed like a really good contest. Glad that Kennedy won. - Thorn targeting Rey is interesting. - I love this diary,

May 1st, 2009 Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey Attendance: 19,968
Tonight’s opening video package included highlights from Backlash. It first showed Shelton Benjamin keeping his Money in the Bank Briefcase. Next, it cuts to showing the ending of the Edge & Shane McMahon Last Man Standing match. Finally, it shows the events that took place at the draft and how Smackdown selected CM Punk, Chris Jericho and World Champion Randy Orton.
Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to another exciting edition of Friday Night Smackdown! They pump up tonight’s show, by telling us that Smackdown’s biggest draft pick, Randy Orton, will address the fans tonight. Plus, four of the blue brand’s biggest picks will do battle in tag team action as Chris Jericho teams with John Morrison to take on former World Tag Team Champions CM Punk & Kofi Kingston! The announcers are cut off by the theme music of Shane McMahon.
Shane McMahon: Last Sunday night, I was involved in a brutal war with Edge. This wasn’t about Championships, it wasn’t about respect, and it wasn’t even about pride. This was about two men who just wanted to flat out hurt each other. And to be honest, we both accomplished that. Both Edge and I left the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on stretchers. Even though we both hurt each other, I for one, am still not satisfied. I’ve hurt him, but now I want to beat him. My goal now is to pin him in the middle of this very ring.
Vickie Guerrero: EXCUSE ME!!! EXCUSE ME!!! Shane, you can’t come out here and threaten my husband. You two nearly killed each other at Backlash, I don’t know if I could stand the sight of my Edge in a stretcher again.
Shane: These aren’t threats, I am actually going to pin his shoulders down, whether he likes it or not. I’m a General Manager, I can book the matches that I want and I want to face Edge one on one at Judgment Day!
Vickie: Wait, wait, wait! I too am a General Manager and we must agree on what happens on this show. So, I have an offer for you. Instead of a one on one match between you and Edge, how about we make it a tag team match? You can pick a partner and so can Edge, and the two teams can square off at Judgment Day.
Shane: That’s a fine idea. But, we are going to make the tag match a Street Fight! That way, I can hurt your husband and still pin his shoulders to the mat!
Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match Carlito & Primo vs. The Second City Saints
Smackdown’s newest tag team takes on the former WWE Tag Team Champions, and it turned into a very solid contest. Both teams looked good and seemed to click well together. The usual tag formula wasn’t applied here, and both teams got an even amount of offense. After hitting their signature spots, The Colons picked up the win after a Back Cracker onto Ace Steel.
Winners: Carlito & Primo (5:29) ***
After the match, Carlito and Primo call out the WWE Tag Team Champions. The New Hart Foundation makes their way to the stage along with Natalya Neidhart. Carlito and Primo say that they’ve won a few matches lately and they would like one last shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles. Surprisingly, the Hart Foundation accepts because they say that they are easily the best tag team in the WWE and they want to prove it. Carlito says to up the ante and give them a title shot next week, but this time in a Steel Cage match to put an end to this rivalry that goes all the way back to December. The Foundation accept and we’ve got a huge match signed for next week!
Commercial Break.
Non-Title Divas Match Divas Champion Gail Kim vs. Jillian Hall
Another new draft pick to Smackdown, Jillian Hall, gets her chance to shine in her debut. After singing, badly, to the crowd, the brand new Divas Champion, Gail Kim comes to the ring. This match didn’t last long and Kim made pretty quick work of WWE’s pop diva. After Jillian missed her handspring elbow, Kim finished her off with the Happy Ending.
Winner: Divas Champion Gail Kim (4:03) **
In the back, we see The Brian Kendrick with his United States Title. He looks into the camera and beings to talk about Ezekiel Jackson getting drafted to ECW. He says that while it sucks to not have his bodyguard around anymore, the draft did help him out. It rid him of the pesky Hurricane Helms. He then says that he found his best success when he had the help of a bodyguard, so he went out and got a new one. He announces his new bodyguard as the 6’7, 225 pound monster, Lawrence Knight. Knight comes up behind Kendrick, looking menacing.
Commercial Break.
In the back, we see Vickie Guerrero and Shane McMahon talking. Vickie says that Edge’s partner at Judgment Day will be her personal hired gun, Umaga. Shane doesn’t even seem fazed by that announcement. He says that he knew that was coming so he picked somebody who has had success against both Umaga and Edge. He selected Jeff Hardy! And tonight, Jeff Hardy will go one on one with Umaga in our main event!
Tag Team Match Chris Jericho & John Morrison vs. CM Punk & Kofi Kingston
Considering that all four of these men are great workers, the crowd expected a great match and they delivered. Morrison got the crowd into it quickly when he hit his split legged corkscrew moonsault early on. Kofi came back and hit him with some punches in the corner after doing a high jump to get up there. He followed that up with a monkey flip. Eventually, Morrison and Jericho took full control and worked over Kofi, not allowing him to make the tag. Jericho did most of the work here as he worked on Kofi’s legs, as they are a big part of his offense. He dusted out an old move, by hitting a double powerbomb. He then covered but Kofi got a foot on the ropes. After a few more of that, Morrison was back in for his team and he ran at Kofi, but Kofi jumped over him and rolled to make the tag to Punk. He hit his springboard clothesline and then hit his usual array of moves. He finished off the match by nailing Morrison with the Go 2 Sleep, while Jericho just watched and didn’t even try to help.
Winners: CM Punk & Kofi Kingston (11:19) ***¼
Commercial Break.
As we return, we see World Champion Randy Orton pacing back and forth in his locker room. He will address the Smackdown fans after tonight’s main event!
Singles Match DJ Gabriel/ Alicia Fox vs. Shelton Benjamin
This match just seemed like a filler to give Benjamin a pretty dominating victory. Benjamin had the early advantage as he hit his signature moves like the Cobra Clutch back breaker, the dragon whip kick and his Shell Bomb. Gabriel began to make his comeback and took control for a short time. He went for a vertical suplex, but Benjamin countered it by flipping over and hitting a neckbreaker. He then nailed him with Paydirt as he got up.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin (6:07) **¼
We now see Umaga & Jeff Hardy walking to the ring on a split screen. The main event it next!
Commercial Break.
Singles Match Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
As usual these two put on a great match as they have some very good chemistry together. Jeff turned this into a brawl right at the start when he took out Umaga with a splash before he even got in the ring. They fought on the outside for a while with Jeff hitting his old move where he ran the guardrail and splashed his opponent. Umaga caught his splash though and dropped him down with a slam onto the floor. They took it inside the ring finally where Umaga had full control. He hit his Samoan Wrecking Ball in the corner, but Jeff kicked out of the pin attempt. He climbed to the top for a diving splash, but Jeff moved out of the way. That was the opening he needed as he then hit his signature dropkick in the corner and a leg drop to the midsection. After a short while, the referee was knocked out. Jeff still climbed to the top and hit the Swanton Bomb. Shane McMahon came running to the ring to make the count, but out of nowhere he was pulled out of the ring. By none other than Edge, who we thought wasn’t in the arena. He threw Shane into the steel steps and then hit Jeff with a steel chair. Umaga then hit his diving splash as Edge woke up the referee to count three.
Winner: Umaga (13:01) ***½
Edge and Umaga stood tall in the ring as we cut to our final commercial break.
Commercial Break.
“Voices” blasts over the speakers as World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton makes his way to the ring.
Randy Orton: For the first time since way back in 2006, I’m officially a member of the Smackdown brand. With it, I bring my World Title. But to be honest, you people aren’t worthy of having me as your champion. Ever since I won this title back at WrestleMania, all I’ve heard is that I wouldn’t have won it without Legacy and then I heard it again after Backlash last week. Well, now I’m no longer a part of Legacy. I don’t have Cody Rhodes or Ted Dibiase Jr. to watch my back. And that just means that it’s now time to prove myself. Back in 2007, I won the WWE Title without anybody’s help and I held it for six months on my own! I will be just as successful now with the World Title. I will run over everybody on the Smackdown roster to become the greatest World Champion in history. I am the best that this company has to offer. Better than CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho and Edge! Everyone on this brand is below me…
Suddenly the lights in the arena go out. The Undertaker is then seen on the titantron.
Undertaker: Randy Orton…you may have been the big dog over on Raw, but you are severely mistaken if you think you will do the same here. You never should’ve opened you mouth boy. Now, you and your World Title reign shall rest…in…peace!
A huge bolt of lightning hits the stage and fire shoots out from there and the turnbuckles as well. Randy Orton looks really scared as purple smoke fills the ring.

Good opening segment, like how Shane/Vickie were trying to use their power and it collided. Like the idea of a tag team cage match, that doesn't happen too often. Fine win for Gail. Wonder who this new bodyguard guy is. Wonder what's up with Jericho not helping Morrison. Shelton winning is always good. Umaga/Hardy was well done, and made Umaga look good without hurting Hardy. Good Orton promo, and Orton/Taker when it happens would be good. Solid show overall.

May 4th, 2009 Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Attendance: 17,547
Raw opens with a video package showing WWE Champion Kane getting drafted to Raw along with MVP and Triple H. It mainly focuses on Triple H attacking MVP and challenging him to a match at Judgment Day.
Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole welcome us to tonight’s edition of Raw and hype up tonight’s main event which involves Triple H teaming with JBL to take on MVP and R-Truth in tag team action. Plus, we will hear from our General Managers as they have an announcement concerning Kane, the WWE Title and Judgment Day. They are cut off by the theme of Team Priceless, Ted Dibiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes.
Ted Dibiase Jr.: The last seven days haven’t been fun for Cody and I. If you saw Smackdown last week, Randy Orton said that people have been saying that he would never have been World Champion if it wasn’t for us. And to be honest, that’s the truth. I get the feeling that Randy would’ve held us back the way he was held back in Evolution. But that is no more now that he’s gone. Legacy is still strong because we won’t let it die. We don’t need Randy Orton.
Cody Rhodes: Back in February at No Way Out, my job was pretty much to be a sacrifice for Randy. I was told to lose because my time isn’t now, and would come later. Well I’m here to tell you that Legacy’s time is now. Ted has a number one contender’s match tonight for the Intercontinental Title. And what will I be doing? Well I’ve had my best success so far in tag team wrestling, so my goal is to once again wear the World Tag Team Titles. I do need a partner though. But not just any partner. Not the toughest partner, not the smartest partner either. I need the perfect partner. And I’ve found him. Ladies and gentlemen…the son of Mr. Perfect and newest member of Legacy…Joe Henning!
Joe Henning makes his way to the ring to a chorus of boos from the crowd. He gets in the ring and shakes hands with his new teammates.
Joe Henning: That’s right. It’s about time I finally make my arrival. With my help, the three of us can take Legacy to the top and we will rule Raw. Because you’re looking at Ted Dibiase Jr., who is simply priceless, the Prince of Pro Wrestling, Cody Rhodes, and myself…the next generation of perfection.
Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match Legacy w/ Ted Dibiase Jr. vs. Cryme Tyme
For the most part, this match just showcased Henning as he had a lot of in ring time. He wrestled a very old school style, much like his father. He hit an atomic drop, a hip toss and even locked in a figure four. Cryme Tyme got in a little offense after that, but Rhodes took back control and hit JTG with a moonsault. Eventually, the finish came as Henning hit JTG with the Perfect Plex.
Winners: Legacy (6:04) **¾
Triple H is interviewed in the back. He basically says that he meant every word he said last week and that he will once again wear the WWE Championship soon. But his first order of business is to prove that he is the most dominant Raw draft pick. And it will officially start at Judgment Day, but the first shot will be fired tonight.
Commercial Break.
We return to see William Regal and Layla enter the office of the McMahons. Regal informs them that he would like to get involved in the tag team division. Vince tells him that it’s a fine idea as long as he can find a partner. Regal says that he’s working on it, but for now he’d like a singles match against one of the World Tag Team Champions. Stephanie grants it as we cut to the ring.
Divas Match Mickie James vs. Victoria
With both of these women being two of the very best in the business, they turned in a good match. Victoria wasn’t playing her up to her usual heel standards, but the crowd was still behind Mickie. Mickie took control after hitting a hurricanrana, but she went for her Mickie-DT only to have it blocked and turned into a Northern lights suplex. Victoria only got a two count but finished it soon after with a Widow’s Peak.
Winner: Victoria (4:14) **¼
After the match, Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix ran down to the ring and grabbed a microphone. She said that she was out to continue proving that she’s the dominant diva in the WWE. She picked up Mickie and hit her with the Glam Slam. Victoria came back down and got in the ring and began to take it right to Beth. She nailed her with a few shots to the crowd’s liking and knocked the Champion to the outside. The crowd cheered as Victoria checked on Mickie, while Beth retreated to the back.
Commercial Break.
Number One Contender for the Intercontinental Championship Evan Bourne vs. Ted Dibiase Jr.
No doubt about it, these two simply stole the show. Everybody knew about Bourne’s in ring ability, but Dibiase surprised everybody and held his own. He, like the rest of Legacy, uses a very old school style. He hit a stalling vertical suplex and a belly to back suplex. Bourne hit a big spin kick to get the match back in his favor. It knocked Dibiase into the corner, where Bourne hit his catapult dropkick. He climbed to the top and went for the cannon ball leg drop, but missed. Dibiase surprised everyone by going to the second rope but hit a lackluster fist drop. They continued to battle for a while longer and after Bourne elbowed his way out of the Dream Street, he hit a snapmare driver. He climbed to the top for the Shooting Star Press, but out came Paul Burchill. He ran in and knocked the referee to the outside. He then attacked both superstars as the bell was called.
No Contest (8:41) ***½
Burchill continued the beating as he hit Bourne with the C4 and Curb Stomped Dibiase before we cut to commercial.
Commercial Break.
When we return from commercial, Vince and Stephanie McMahon make their way to the entrance stage. Paul Burchill is halfway up the ramp, while Bourne and Dibiase are just starting to get up in the middle of the ring. The GMs tell Burchill that he can’t just go around ruining number one contender’s matches and taking out WWE officials. So now, Burchill will be defending his Intercontinental Championship at Judgment Day. But because he didn’t allow there to be a winner in this match, he will be facing both Evan Bourne and Ted Dibiase Jr. in a Triple Threat Match!
The McMahons then tell all three men to leave as they make their way to the ring. After they all leave, Mr. McMahon begins talking about Kane. He calls him out, and Kane comes to the ring with Paul Bearer.
Stephanie McMahon: Now that you’re officially a member of the Raw brand, you represent myself and my father. And we need to be represented well. So you’re going to need to defend that WWE Title at Judgment Day. Now, me and my dad were thinking of some possible contenders. Batista is out for a while more with an injury, Triple H and MVP are involved in a match already at Judgment Day and JBL has said that he has his own agenda for Judgment Day for now. So we were wondering who that left. And we realized that it only left one man. This man lost his World Title thanks to outside interference at WrestleMania and back at Backlash, he won his title match by DQ, therefore putting him in line for another one. So at Judgment Day, it will be Kane defending the WWE Championship against none other than John Cena!
Kane nods his head and leaves the ring as he doesn’t seem to mind his upcoming title defense.
Commercial Break.
MVP is shown in the back when R-Truth comes up to him. Truth thanks him for choosing him to be in the main event tonight. MVP says that he did it because while he was on Smackdown, R-Truth was one of his toughest opponents and he knows that he will be a big help tonight.
Singles Match World Tag Team Champion Jamie Noble w/ Charlie Haas & Kelly Kelly vs. William Regal w/ Layla
As expected, these two great workers put on a good match. With more time it could’ve been better though. Regal worked on Noble’s back and legs as he seemed to be gearing up for the Regal Stretch. Noble also worked on his opponent’s back as he was planning for the Tiger Driver. He eventually went for the Tiger Driver, but Regal back dropped him over. Noble got right back on the offensive and threw Regal into the corner. He ran in but Regal moved, Noble hit chest first, and Regal rolled him up with a handful of tights for the win.
Winner: William Regal (5:31) **½
In the back we see Rhodes, Dibiase & Henning talking about Rhodes & Henning’s victory and Dibiase’s Intercontinental Title shot at Judgment Day. Suddenly, Manu walks up to them. It seemed like an awkward moment as Manu hasn’t been seen since he was beat up and kicked out of Legacy. He tells them that he’s happy that he was kicked out of Legacy because he’s going back to his Samoan roots and we will all see what he’s talking about when a certain contract runs out soon. He leaves and Legacy looks on looking confused.

Tag Team Match John “Bradshaw” Layfield & Triple H vs. Montel Vontavious Porter & R-Truth w/ Eve
This turned out to be a decent main event, nothing special, but not bad by any means. They used the tag formula and Triple H and JBL worked over R-Truth for the majority of the match. After a few minutes of that, he got a burst of energy and hit Triple H with some high flying moves. He made the hot tag to MVP, who got a big pop from the crowd, and he hit his signature moves. Triple H tagged out quickly to JBL, and MVP continued his assault on him. It looked like he was ready to pick up the victory as he set up for the Drive By, but Triple H ran in. MVP caught him as he was running and delivered an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. He then hit the Drive By onto JBL and got the win.
Winners: Montel Vontavious Porter and R-Truth (9:25) **½
Eve got in the ring and celebrated with the winning team. Triple H came from behind and nailed R-Truth with a steel chair from behind, then hit MVP as he turned around. He hit MVP a few more times with the chair for good measure. He then turned his attention to Eve. He dropped the chair on the ground, and then hooked her and nailed her with a Pedigree onto the chair. The announcers plug that the Cerebral Assassin truly is back as Triple H stands tall to end the show.

Not sure about still having Legacy as a faction with no actual leader. Them winning over CT obviously made sense. Although I'm a little unsure about DiBiase being dominated by Burchill like that, especially if he's supposed to be the leader. I'll wait to pass judgment on all this Legacy stuff and let it play out. Kane/Cena sounds awesome, hope they have a good build as well. Guessing Manu will be switching shows. Fine main event, surprised that team won. Good way to end the show. Solid show, interesting to say the least. Cena/Kane shhould be great.

May 5th, 2009 Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Attendance: 17,547
This week’s ECW opens with a video package highlighting the events that occurred on last week’s show. It starts with Tommy Dreamer and Matt Hardy declaring war on The Brood, followed by Mr. Kennedy beating Rey Mysterio to face Elijah Burke at Judgment Day for the ECW Title. It ends by showing Mysterio get a bloodbath after his match.
Todd Grisham & Matt Striker introduce us to ECW and hype up tonight’s card. They announce that the main event will be a tag team match featuring the ECW Champion Elijah Burke teaming with Ezekiel Jackson to take on Matt Hardy and Mr. Kennedy. Plus, Rey Mysterio will go up against a member of The Brood, 22 year old Tyler Black.
Number One Contender Fatal Four Way Match Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. Hurricane Helms vs. Gavin Spears vs. The Miz
While this could’ve been really good, it turned into a bit of a cluster****. Finlay and Miz were both off their game as well, but Spears and Helms managed to save the match. Spears continues to improve in the ring every week and he even managed to nail Miz with his finisher, a running DVD, but Finlay broke up the count. He picked up Spears and dropped him with a Celtic Cross, but Helms broke it up. Helms hit Finlay with a Shining Wizard, and Miz was creeping up behind him. Helms caught him before he could do anything though and he nailed a Nightmare on Helms Street onto him to win.
Winner: Hurricane Helms (8:18) **
As he was celebrating his victory he was blindsided and attacked from behind by the current Television Champion, Jack Swagger. Swagger hit him with the gut wrench powerbomb and posed with his title.
Commercial Break.
As we return from commercial, we are joined by Rey Mysterio.
Rey Mysterio: Last week, after finished a great match with Mr. Kennedy, I was attacked and given a bloodbath. The only people who give these bloodbaths are The Brood. Now, I’ve never had any issue with these guys, so I want to know where this is coming from. Why did The Brood single me out?
The Brood’s theme music hit as they came to the stage area.
Kevin Thorn: Do not take it personal Rey. Our master plan is to completely take over ECW and to start that; we must take out the top guys on the brand. Tommy Dreamer bleeds ECW, so he was an obvious target. Matt Hardy is a former ECW Champion and has also stated that he feels at home here, making him another target. You’re different though. You pose a small threat, because you are a former World Champion. You are also an ECW Original and we need to feed on those. Those two things make you a target in our take over and right now, Tyler Black will show the world that we are indeed the future of ECW.
Singles Match Rey Mysterio vs. Tyler Black w/ Gangrel, Kevin Thorn & Hade Vansen
Wow. That’s all that can be said. These two put on a fantastic match as Black really showed why he was so praised on the independent scene. He hung with the veteran high flyer and surprisingly, the crowd enjoyed his offense. A big spot in the match was when Mysterio went for a springboard move, but got caught with a big boot from Black. Mysterio hit a pretty hurricanrana yet only got a two count. In the end, Black went for a superkick, but Mysterio ducked and hit a spinning heel kick and Black landed on the ropes. Mysterio went for the 619, but The Brood got into the ring and attacked him.
Winner by DQ: Rey Mysterio (10:26) ***¾
The Brood beat on Mysterio until Tommy Dreamer ran down with a singapore cane and he laid out Gangrel and Black before Vansen & Thorn managed to escape. Dreamer grabbed a microphone.
Tommy Dreamer:I’m already sick and tired of you guys. You’re just going to continue to attack myself, Rey and Matt aren’t you? Why don’t we do something about it then? How about at Judgment Day, you three take on myself, Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio in a six man tag match?
Kevin Thorn nods his head to say yes and we’ve got a new big match signed to Judgment Day!
Commercial Break.
We are once again shown the promo package featuring a bunch of the ECW superstars. DJ Gabriel, Hardcore Holly, Mark Henry, Santino Marella, Jimmy Wang Yang, Ricky Ortiz, Dolph Ziggler & The Boogeyman all cut very short promos on why they’re going to win the upcoming Extreme Battle Royal on this week’s Velocity. The winner of that Battle Royal will receive a future Television Title Shot, most likely sometime after Hurricane Helms gets his shot next week. After they finish their promos, we see Jack Swagger in a locker room with his TV Title. He basically said that it doesn’t matter that Hurricane Helms won earlier and it doesn’t matter who wins the battle royal, because they will all fall victim to the All-American American.
Commercial Break.
Tag Team Match ECW Champion Elijah Burke & Ezekiel Jackson vs. Mr. Kennedy & Matt Hardy
Considering this match had to follow the classic from Black & Mysterio, the crowd just wasn’t really into tonight’s main event. It was a good match, but nothing special. Burke let Ezekiel do most of the work and would only get involved in the action when Kennedy or Hardy were already down. After working over Matt, Burke decided to taunt the crowd, which allowed Matt to make the hot tag. In came Mr. Kennedy, who turned Burke around and began to fire shots at him. Hade Vansen and Tyler Black ran to the ring and beat down on Matt while he was on the outside. Vansen finished it off with a Spike DDT onto the floor. After pretty much dominating for a little while, Kennedy managed to pick up the win by hitting Burke with the Mic Check.
Winners: Mr. Kennedy & Matt Hardy (8:29) **½
The announcers continually put over how important it was that Kennedy has pinned the ECW Champion, while he went outside to check on Matt Hardy along with Tommy Dreamer and Rey Mysterio who came to the ring. Kennedy pointed at Burke and motioned for the title.

ECW was a solid show.
- Opening match was pretty solid, Miz didn't seem to fit though, kinda surprised Spears didn't win. - Helms vs Swagger should be a fantastic match. - Mysterio vs Black = godly, would of been 100 times better if this was 90s' mysterio vs Tyler Black. - Main event was solid overall. Kennedy getting the win was surprising, was expecting Jackson to take the fall, not Burke. Don't see Burke losing the ECW title at Judgment Day though. - Brood/Mysterio,Hardy and Dreamer is building nicely.
Another impressive show.
