January 23rd, 2009 U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin We open with a video package showing highlights of last week’s main event featuring WWE Champion Jeff Hardy and Triple H taking on Umaga and United States Champion Shelton Benjamin.
Good ‘Ol JR and Tazz welcome us to Smackdown! this week. They say that tonight, we have a big match announced, as The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin will be taking on Matt Hardy, the man he took the United States Title from, and the brother of his Royal Rumble opponent Jeff Hardy. Also, tonight, as announced on ECW this past Tuesday, Finlay will be taking on an ECW star that is in the Royal Rumble. Whoever wins that match will have the spot in the Rumble. Finlay’s opponent will be chosen at random later.
“No More Words” hits the loudspeakers as WWE Champion Jeff Hardy makes his way to the ring to a huge ovation. He gets on the microphone and talks about how hard he worked to win his WWE Title, how long it took and how many opportunities it took him. He says if Benjamin thinks he’ll just give up his Title, no problem, then he has another thing coming. This brings out Shelton Benjamin. He says that it doesn’t matter how long it took him to win the Title, because he’s the Gold Standard and the WWE Title belongs with him. He says he wishes his match tonight with Matt Hardy could be for the ECW Title, just so he can add more gold to his collection before the Rumble. This brings out Vickie Guerrero, who says that Shane McMahon is not in the building tonight, so she’s in complete control. She says that since Benjamin has a match so close to the Royal Rumble, it’s only fair to give Jeff a match as well. So she books Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga for tonight in a no DQ non-title match. Jeff doesn’t seem too worried about this, although Shelton seems to like the news.
Commercial Break.
As we come back from commercial we see ECW’s Tiffany standing with Finlay and Teddy Long and she's turning the Tumbler. Tiffany pulls out a ball, just like she will at the Royal Rumble, and Teddy Long opens it. He reads the name Chavo Guerrero, and now Finlay will face Chavo tonight, with the winner making it to the Rumble.
Divas Tag Match Maria & Divas Champion Michelle McCool vs. Maryse & Natalya
This was your basic Divas match, with Natalya starring. Maryse did show some improvement as she took it to McCool until McCool locked her in the Heel Hook. Natalya came in and broke it up though. After a few minutes the finish came, where McCool nailed Maryse with the Wings of Love. She went for the cover and saw Natalya come in and try to break it up so she moved and Natalya dropped an elbow on Maryse. McCool tossed Natalya to the outside and pinned Maryse for the win.
Winners: Maria & Divas Champion Michelle McCool
Post match, Michelle McCool holds up the Diva Title triumphantly and stares in the direction of Natalya.
Commercial Break.
WWE Rewind: Kendrick keeps the beating going and Ezekiel joins in by hitting a huge powerbomb. Kendrick screams at Helms saying that the US Title is not going to be his, its coming to The Brian Kendrick!
Singles Match Hurricane Helms vs. The Brian Kendrick w/ Ezekiel Jackson
A very good match that continues to showcase the very strong midcard on Smackdown! Helms started off the match with some quick paced offense and overwhelmed Kendrick. After some very good action for a few minutes, Helms threw Kendrick into the turnbuckle sternum first. He then looked to the outside and did a suicide dive to big Ezekiel Jackson. He got back in the ring, but Kendrick became the aggressor on offense now. He hit a tornado DDT and followed it with a top rope double stomp. He went for The Kendrick but Hurricane blocked it and threw him into the corner and hit a German suplex as Kendrick fell back to him. He went for the Shining Wizard but Ezekiel tripped him. He got up and argued with Ezekiel but Kendrick rolled him up with a handful of tights for the win.
Winner: The Brian Kendrick
Kendrick danced as his arm was raised by the referee.
Backstage, we see Chavo Guerrero complaining to Vickie Guerrero about his match with Finlay tonight. Vickie and Chavo both began to argue with Teddy Long, who is also in the room. Long says that since he is the ECW GM, his decision is final and Finlay will face Chavo next!
Commercial Break.
Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Chavo Guerrero vs. Finlay w/ Hornswoggle
The crowd was strongly behind Finlay here and Chavo seemed to just be really upset. These WCW alums worked well together and put on a decent match. The crowd didn’t seem to into it unless Finlay was on the offensive. Finlay picked up the win when Chavo went for a piledriver, but he picked Chavo up and hit the Celtic Cross.
Winner: Finlay
After the match, Finlay had his son, Hornswoggle get on the top rope and hit the Tadpole Splash on Chavo to add insult to injury.
We cut to the back where Edge is being interviewed by Eve. Edge said that the love of his life Vickie, gave him the night off tonight, to prepare for this Sunday. This Sunday, when he walks out of Detroit as the Royal Rumble winner. This Sunday, where his path back to the main event at WrestleMania, and the WWE Title, begins.
Commercial Break.
As we come back from commercial, Eve is once again interviewing, this time though, she’s interviewing MVP. MVP said that last week Mr. Kennedy tried to steal his spotlight by announcing his return at the Royal Rumble, the match he’s going to win. MVP said that not only will he win the Royal Rumble, but he will be a World Champion in the very near future, you can bank on that.
Non-Title Singles Match ECW Champion Matt Hardy vs. United States Champion Shelton Benjamin
Again, another great match on Smackdown! tonight. Hardy and Benjamin looked evenly matched just as they did back at the Great American Bash. Benjamin took control early with some mat based work but Matt fought back with a big Side Effect, yet he only got a two. Benjamin seemed to gain some momentum back with a Dragon Whip kick, but Matt hit a DDT right after and both men were laid out in the middle of the ring. Now Vladimir Kozlov was walking down to the ring. Matt got up and was walking towards Benjamin, which left Matt’s back to Kozlov. Benjamin pulled the referee towards him to keep him from seeing that Matt turned around and ran at Kozlov but was met with the Battering Ram. Kozlov left the ring; Benjamin picked up Matt and hit the Paydirt for the W.
Winner: United States Champion Shelton Benjamin
Commercial Break.
Non-Title Tag Team Match WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo Colon vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
Carlito and Primo beat Hawkins and Ryder for the WWE Tag Team Titles, and again a few weeks back but Hawkins & Ryder wanted to get back into contention for those Titles. This was a good tag team match, better than the one from a few weeks back. Hawkins and Ryder looked very impressive, although the Champs had the upper hand for the most part. Carlito hit Hawkins with a Back Cracker late in the match, but Ryder broke up the count. At this point, TJ Wilson and Harry Smith came out and began to beat on both teams.
Double DQ
Post match, Wilson and Smith kept the beating going for a few. Smith hit two Brainbusters, one on Hawkins and one on Carlito. Wilson hit Primo and Ryder with the Rolling Stampede, then got on the microphone and said they are proving once again that they are taking over the Tag Team division in the WWE.
The lights go out in the arena and The Undertaker’s voice is heard, just like last week. This time instead of talking about his attacker, he talks about this Sunday and how he will win the Royal Rumble. The lights come back on and TJ Wilson and Harry Smith look frightened and leave the ring.
We cut to the back where Triple H is being interviewed. He said that he doesn’t care what MVP, Edge, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Randy Orton or Mr. Kennedy think. He will win the Royal Rumble and then take back his WWE Title at WrestleMania and somewhere along the way he will take out Umaga. He promises that.
Commercial Break.
No DQ Non-Title Singles Match WWE Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
This brought back memories of their rivalry for the Intercontinental Championship. Jeff wasn’t intimidated by Umaga and came at him with some big offensive moves. The two men went at it for about ten minutes before we got close to the ending. Umaga had the advantage by wearing down the Champ with a nerve hold. He then hit a big Samoan Drop but Jeff kicked out. Umaga put him in the corner and went for his Samoan Wrecking Ball but Jeff rolled to the outside and Umaga hit the turnbuckle. Jeff climbed to the top and hit a missile dropkick. Jeff followed it up with a sitout jawbreaker and then his wishbone leg drop. This brought out Shelton Benjamin who went straight after Jeff and they started brawling. This led to a two on one beating, but Triple H came out, and began to take on Umaga. Jeff tossed Shelton out of the ring and Triple H dropped Umaga with a Pedigree onto a steel chair. Jeff covered for the three count.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
Post match, Triple H got right on top of Umaga and began to punch him, while Jeff got his WWE Title. Jeff turned right into Shelton who dropped him with the US Title. Shelton picked him up and threw him into the steel steps. He grabbed both titles, like he did last week, and looked at them as if he desired them more than anything.

I liked Smackdown. You are building up your midcard very well and there are 6 or 7 people who look like they could win the US title right now. I will say that I don't like Shelton being in the WWE title hunt while he is US champion though. I would have had him lose it in a really close really good match against someone who could win the world title. Kendrick vs. Helms was interesting, hope you give Helms a decent push. Like how Vickie but Jeff in a No DQ match. Good that both contenders won. Hope Hardy keeps the title though. Don't like Chavo losing his Rumble place, would've much rather it had been Dreamer. Your tag team division is interesting can't wait to see what you got in store with Wilson and Smith. Keep up the good work.

I like the idea of having Shelton face Jeff's brother going into the PPV. And I like Shelton opening the show to make him look like a potential title threat. Nice "Tumbler" preview thingy right there. Sad Maryse lost but oh well. Glad TBK won, and I actually thought Chavo would win his match. Shelton winning made sense to give him momentum heading into the Rumble. Nice way to end a meaningless tag match. The Taker thing was a bit random, especially since the young guys were in the ring. Still really interested to see who the attacker was. Jeff winning made sense, and it was a great ending to the show. You've done a great job building up Benjamin to be a title holder, although it's extremely doubtful he'll win. I continue to think that SD is the highlight of your diary.

-The WWE are still deciding between a few superstars to win the Royal Rumble. Names being thrown around are Chris Jericho, Batista, Edge, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and even MVP. Nothing is written in stone yet though. -The Elimination Chamber at No Way Out will go to Raw or Smackdown, whichever one loses the Rumble as the winner of the Rumble is expected to go for the World Title on his current show. -Expect the Triple H/Umaga feud to last a while as there are plans for them to have a blood rivalry. -Also, expect the 3 major champions to be involved in some sort of eight man tag at No Way Out. This will be done so that the Titles won't be defended before WrestleMania 25

Good opening segment. Decent Divas match. Thankfully Kendrick won. Good match there. Better Finlay be in the Rumble rather than Chavo at this point. The interview with Edge was cool. Shelton winning by DQ with the help of Kozlov was great. Nice way to build up heat going in to the ECW title match. I liked the Double DQ for Primo/Carlito Vs. Hawkins/Ryder. Undertaker's little bit was cool. Nice Triple H promo, but I can't see him winning the Rumble for some reason. Jeff winning just before the Rumble is perfect, as you wouldn't want to have him lose going in to a title defence. Nice ending to the show with Shelton taking both belts. Hopefully Jeff retains though. I hope Jericho or MVP wins the rumble. I would cream if MVP actually won lol.

January 25th, 2009 Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan
The Royal Rumble opens with a video package showing some of the 30 superstars in tonight’s Royal Rumble match. It then cuts to showing quick recaps of everything John Cena & JBL and Jeff Hardy & Shelton Benjamin have been through in the past few weeks. We then enter the arena where we see a great fireworks display. All six announcers from the three brands welcome us to the first pay-per-view event of the year. They remind us of the importance of the Royal Rumble match and how tonight is the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania.
We cut backstage right off the bat, and see Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Teddy Long and Vickie Guerrero in a room. Also in the room with them is Kelly Kelly, Maryse & Tiffany. They are the official “Ball” girls for each show. Carlito and Primo Colon walk into the room for their numbers tonight. Maryse gets them their number form the Tumbler, as she’s from Smackdown! They get their numbers; Carlito doesn’t look to mad, but Primo looks concerned. He shows Carlito the number and he says “that’s not cool”. TJ Wilson and Harry Smith come in the room now for their numbers and have a staredown with the WWE Tag Team Champions until Shane makes sure nothing goes down between them. The New Hart Foundation gets their numbers and neither of them looks too happy.Intercontinental Championship: William Regal (c) w/ Layla vs. CM Punk“IT’S CLOBBERING TIME!!!!” is heard as CM Punk screams as he comes out to a huge reaction. Regal comes out and gets plenty of boos. This will go down as the best Intercontinental Title match of the past few years. Punk and Regal started the match off with some great mat wrestling for the first few minutes. Regal worked on Punk’s legs as he seemed to be setting up for possibly the Regal Stretch later in the match. Punk fights back towards the middle of the match with a combo of kicks and open hand smacks, followed by a double underhook back breaker. They kept battling for a few minutes until Punk whipped him in the corner and hit a stiff knee to the face. He followed that with a bulldog but only got a two count. Punk went to pick him up but Regal rolled him into a small package, yet only got a two as well. Both men got up but Punk was quicker and hit him with a superkick although he got another near fall. There were 14 near falls in this match, bringing memories of Steamboat/Savage. Regal hit a dragon screw and went straight for the Regal Stretch. He locked it on and Punk was struggling not to submit as this was how he lost the King of Ring finals. He managed to reach the ropes after almost a minute. Regal let go but pulled him to the middle of the ring by his leg, but Punk kicked him off and he fell into the corner. Punk got up and Regal went at him but he picked him up for the Go 2 Sleep. Too bad, Punk’s leg was in pain as the weight was too much and he dropped to the mat. Both men got up at the same time, but again Punk was faster as he hooked him with a Uranagi, dropped him and locks on the Anaconda Vice which eventually leads to Regal tapping out. Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: CM Punk (20:56) ****½ CM Punk celebrates with the title on his knees. The fact that this match was given 20 minutes proves that WWE really wants to establish their midcard and their midcard titles. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler kept mentioning how great that match was.
We cut to the GMs office where Stephanie is gloating about how great her Intercontinental Title match was. Santino Marella and his girlfriend, Beth Phoenix enter. Santino says that he’s about to pull out number 30 and get the easy road to “the WrestleManiac”. He flirts with Kelly Kelly, who wants no part of it, and Beth slaps him in the back of the head. Kelly gives him his number and he looks very disappointed. He blames Kelly and he & Beth get ready to leave, but they run into the World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and The Miz. Santino says, my number may suck, but at least I’m no number one. Morrison looks mad at that comment but Miz is just checking out Beth. The champs get Miz’s number, which he seems very happy with.
The cameras get back to Santino and Beth, who see Natalya walking towards the arena. Natalya stops Beth Phoenix. She says that she’s the most dominant female on Smackdown! while Beth is the most dominant on Raw. She says that she’s tired of all these “divas” taking away the spotlight from wrestlers like them, and they should get together and take over the Women’s divisions. Beth says it sounds like a good idea. She mentions that she’s a two time, and soon to be three-time Women’s Champion. That proves that she is the dominant female on Raw. She’ll take Natalya’s idea into consideration when she gets some proof that she’s the best on Smackdown! Natalya says fine, watch the next match.Divas Championship: Michelle McCool (c) vs. NatalyaThe reigning champion Michelle McCool came out to cheers while Natalya got a mixed reaction but mostly boos. McCool kicked off the match with some early offense. She used a hip toss, flying cross body and a new, nicely executed float over suplex for a two count. Natalya managed to survive McCool’s early flurry and took charge with a powerslam. She used her father’s three point stance tackle but only got a near fall. Natalya seemed a little frustrated that she couldn’t put away McCool and as she went to pick her up, McCool wrapped her in a small package but only got a two. As both women got up, McCool quickly knocked Natalya down and locked on the Heel Hook. Natalya somehow managed to break out of it and reverse it into the Sharpshooter. McCool seemed on the verge of a tap out but she reached the ropes. Natalya picked her up but McCool kicked her in the stomach and went for her version of the Styles Clash. Before she could lift her, Natalya back body dropped her over and hit her with a sitout powerbomb for the win. Winner and NEW Divas Champion: Natalya (8:39) ***Natalya leaves with the Divas title in her hand as Jim Ross mentions that we just witnessed a very good women’s match and that he hopes for all the other WWE divas, that Beth Phoenix and Natalya don’t join forces.
Back in the GMs office, Shane and Vickie look pretty pleased about that match when CM Punk enters the room with the Intercontinental Title on his shoulder. Stephanie congratulates him as the Second City Saints enter the room. They congratulate Punk on his victory and Goldman hands Punk a Pepsi, then goes to get a Royal Rumble number. At first he doesn’t look happy but then smiles, as he always seems to be doing, and he, Steel and Punk leave. Paul Burchill and his sister, Katie Lea, enter the room. Paul taps the belt on Punk’s shoulder as Punk leaves and says “not for long”. Katie Lea stops Kelly and gets the number for her brother. They look at the number and both seem very pleased.
We now see a video package showcasing the rivalry between Matt Hardy & the “Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov. Extreme Rules for the ECW Championship: Matt Hardy (c) vs. Vladimir KozlovVladimir Kozlov came out first and got booed by the crowd. Matt came out to a big pop and went right after Kozlov the minute he got in the ring. Just like the past few weeks though, Kozlov would not go down and he dropped Matt with a scoop slam. Kozlov went to the outside and got a steel chair, while Matt rolled out of the ring and got a singapore cane. Matt, being the quicker man, connected with cane first to the crowd’s liking. They went back and forth with the cane and the chair for a few minutes. Kozlov even brought a table into the ring. Matt managed to hit the Side Effect on Kozlov but only got a two count. He went outside and got a ladder, which the crowd popped huge for. As he got in the ring though, Kozlov hit him in the back, and then drilled him with a chokeslam onto the ladder. He only got a two count though. Kozlov waited as Matt got up and ran at him. Kozlov went for the Battering Ram, but Matt had a chair in his hand and nailed Kozlov, mid-headbutt. Matt rolled him to the outside, on top of a table set up out there. He set up the ladder and climbed mid-way. He nailed a leg drop off the ladder through the table. The referee counted the three and Vladimir Kozlov suffered his first ever pinfall loss in the WWE. Winner and Still ECW Champion: Matt Hardy (13:13) **¼ Matt Hardy crawled to the ramp and raised him title in the air as we cut to the backstage area again.
Teddy Long is seen clapping for his ECW Title match. Shawn Michaels enters the room, with JBL, and gets his number from Kelly. He doesn’t seem to be in a good mood, but he’s much happier once he sees his number. At this point, MVP comes in and gets his number from Maryse and he doesn’t like his number. Michaels sees the number and says “ouch, still losing I see.” MVP looks at Shawn and says “aren’t you supposed to be in the World Title match tonight? Oh, that’s right; I forgot…you’re JBL’s bitch.” Michaels takes offense to that and goes after MVP but JBL holds him back and allows MVP to leave. Michaels looks pissed at JBL, who says “you fight when I tell you to fight”. Michaels storms out of the room.
We are now shown a commercial for No Way Out. The commercial advertised the return of the Elimination Chamber.
The show cuts to a video package of everything John Cena and JBL have been through over the past few weeks.World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena (c) vs. John “Bradshaw” LayfieldJBL came out first and got nothing but boos. Cena followed and got a huge ovation, normally it would be a mixed reaction, but everybody hates JBL. This match started out real slow, with JBL working on Cena’s back. He used a torture rack and a back breaker followed by a bow and arrow type move. JBL worked on his back for ten or so minutes. Then the action picked up. Cena got back on the offensive when he hit a shoulder block. He followed that with the Five Knuckle Shuffle and then covered but only got a two. Cena would then hit a back suplex but JBL got his foot on the ropes. Cena picked him up but JBL nailed him with some rib shots and threw him to the outside. JBL went out after him and threw him into the guardrail. He followed that up by choking Cena with the cables at ringside. JBL cleared off the Raw announce table, broke the count, and got on top of the table with Cena. He set up Cena for a powerbomb but Cena back body dropped him and he landed on the ECW table, but didn’t break it. Cena brought him in the ring and set up his FU but JBL elbowed his way out of it and went for the Clothesline from Hell. Cena ducked and hit a drop toe hold and locked on the STFU facing the entrance. Shawn Michaels came down to the ring and went to get involved, but stopped midway and slowly turned around. JBL tapped out after he saw this. Winner and Still World Heavyweight Champion: John Cena (14:47) **½John Cena celebrated his victory with the fans as make another cut to the backstage office.
Stephanie and Shane are having a discussion about the champions on their respective brands when Legacy enters the room. Orton and Rhodes each get their number, while Manu looks on hopefully. Both men look at their numbers, Orton looking very satisfied while Rhodes says “it could be worse.” Orton said he just hopes that Batista is still out there when he comes out. Edge enters the room now, to Vickie’s excitement. He passes Orton and the two stop and look at each other for a second. The crowd pops as they notice this is the Rated RKO reunion of sorts. Orton says may the best man win tonight, while Edge said he plans on it. Vickie pushes aside the “ball” girls and gets Edge’s number for him. He looks at and doesn’t get mad or happy, he just kisses Vickie, which everybody in the office finds nasty, and leaves.
A video package is show, showcasing Shelton Benjamin winning the mini-tournament and everythign that has gone down between him and WWE Champion Jeff Hardy.WWE Championship: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. United States Champion Shelton BenjaminShelton Benjamin came to the ring first and got mostly boos but there were some cheers heard. Jeff Hardy followed and got the loudest pop of the night so far. Both men started this match out trying to hit their finishers early. Shelton got out of the Twist of Fate and went for Paydirt but Jeff pushed him to the ground. They followed that with some mat work, but Shelton dominated that part of the match as he is the more accomplished wrestler on the mat. They went at it and seemed pretty even for the next few minutes with Hardy hitting a baseball slide and a dive to the outside. Benjamin hit a cobra clutch backbreaker and a turnbuckle powerbomb during this back and forth action. Benjamin had the upper hand late in the match when he hit a dragon whip kick. He covered but only got a two count. Benjamin went to the apron and hit a springboard front flip neck breaker but again only got a two. Shelton got aggravated and hit his Exploder suplex. He again only got a two count. Shelton now put Jeff in the corner and went for the Stinger Splash but missed. Jeff ran to the other corner, Shelton stumbled towards the same corner, and Jeff hit the Whisper in the Wind. Jeff went to the top for the Swanton, but Shelton moved out of the way. Shelton waited for Jeff to get up and went for a Superkick, but Jeff caught it, spun him around, kicked him in the stomach and hit the Twist of Fate. That sequence was similar to Austin/Michaels at WrestleMania 14. Jeff went to the top and nailed the Swanton this time for the win. Winner and Still WWE Champion: Jeff Hardy (21:39) ****Jeff celebrated after the match with his title. Jim Ross and Tazz mention how great this match was and they put over Benjamin, saying that he proved he belonged at the top of Smackdown!
We cut to the GMs office for a final time. Vickie and Shane agree that they put on a fantastic WWE Title match, which was weird to see them agree. Elijah Burke walks into the room to get his number for the Royal Rumble. He gets it from Tiffany and doesn’t look to happy, but guarantees to Teddy Long, that he will win the ECW Title at WrestleMania. Next in is Chris Jericho who gets his number, looks satisfied, and reminds Stephanie that he did promise to win it all. There is just one number left to pick and in steps Triple H. He and Jericho don’t take their eyes off each other until Jericho leaves. Triple H stops Maryse from getting his number. He turns to Stephanie, says “Hi Steph, I’d like it if you got my balls…I mean ball for me”. He smiled at her while she laughed and got his number. He seemed pretty satisfied.
We are now shown the same video that the show opened with, showing the stars of the Rumble. Howard Finkle begins his introductions after the video is done.Royal Rumble Match Order of Entrants (New Entrant Every 2 Minutes)1) John Morrison 2) Rey Mysterio 3) Primo Colon 4) Santino Marella 5) TJ Wilson 6) Scotty Goldman 7) Montel Vontavious Porter 8) Hurricane Helms 9) Mike Knox 10) The Undertaker 11) Elijah Burke 12) Carlito 13) Edge 14) Cody Rhodes 15) Harry Smith 16) The Brian Kendrick 17) Randy Orton 18) Tommy Dreamer 19) Triple H 20) Jack Swagger 21) Shawn Michaels 22) Chris Jericho 23) Umaga 24) Mark Henry 25) Finlay 26) Batista 27) Mr. Kennedy 28) Kofi Kingston 29) Paul Burchill 30) The Miz Order of Eliminations/Time in Rumble/Elimination Explaination1) Santino Marella (0:32)- For the 2nd straight year he was first out, courtesy of John Morrison 2) Primo Colon (5:13)- A clothesline from TJ Wilson 3) Mike Knox (2:14)- Rey Mysterio hit him with a Huricanrana that sent him over the top 4) Rey Mysterio (14:41)- Knox got back in the ring and press slammed him out 5) Scotty Goldman (8:01)- A dropkick from Morrison sent himout 6) Hurricane Helms (7:19)- MVP big boot sent him over 7) TJ Wilson (14:07)- Carlito threw him over once he got in 8) Carlito (6:36)- Harry Smith tossed him over with a slam to the outside 9) Harry Smith (1:39)- The Undertaker tossed him out with ease. 10) The Undertaker (13:21)- The lights in the arena went out and when they came back on The Undertaker was laid out and he was tied up in the ropes, like Andre the Giant all those years ago. This meant the final nine superstars were left, MVP, Elijah Burke, Edge, Batista, Jack Swagger, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Paul Burchill & The Miz. The crowd was behind Batista all the way as he was the only face left in the match. He took out the Miz (0:51) who ran right at him. Then he got into a fist fight with Paul Burchill, but he got rid of him (3:14) with a clothesline. Jack Swagger got tossed out (21:22) by Elijah Burke, making Burke the last ECW wrestler left. As he celebrated, Randy Orton eliminated him (39:30). Orton and Batista began to brawl and Jericho came up to them and battled with them. This allowed Edge to run behind them and toss them all out. (Orton: 32:16, Jericho: 22:16, Batista: 14:16) This left two Smackdown! superstars, MVP and Edge. The crowd really got behind MVP as they really hated Edge. They popped louder with each move MVP hit. The two of them went at it for about 5 minutes until MVP hit the Drive By. He waited for Edge to get up and went for a Big Boot, but Edge pulled down the top rope and over went MVP (57:56). Winner of the Royal Rumble: Edge (45:56) Time of Full Match: (69:56) Longest Lasting Superstar: MVP (57:56) Most Eliminations: MVP (5) Longest Lasting RAW Superstar: Randy Orton (32:16) Longest Lasting ECW Superstar: Elijah Burke (39:30)Edge celebrated in the ring, while MVP was sitting on the outside looking very frustrated. It looked as if he close to tears and the crowd seemed to sympathize with him as he was truly the MVP of this Rumble. Vickie Guerrero, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder came out to celebrate with Edge as he pointed to the WrestleMania 25 sign, then motioned that the title would be his on that night, to the crowd’s disliking. © WWE 2009

A great show if I'm perfectly honest. Fantastically layed out and fantastically written. I really like the idea of Hardy vs. Benjamin for the WWE Championship. My one complaint would be having two heels as the final two in the Rumble, but I'm glad Edge came out on top. Good work. Keep it up.

Punk winning the IC title to start off the show is great. I was supprised that Natalya actually won, but it's great that you finally got the Diva's title off McCool. Cena Vs. JBL was nothing special imo, I just don't care for either of them, but as much as I hate Cena, I'm glad he retained because JBL is a horrible champion. Glad that Jeff retained, I couldn't see Shelton as WWE or World Champion quite yet. I like all of the segments with the superstars getting their numbers, and the confrontations are great. MVP was amazing in the Rumble Match, I was really hoping for him to pull out the win, but Edge winning is still great. I can see this being a big turning point though for MVP.

Oh hell yes, the Annaconda Vice for the win! Did Cole call it a "vintage" match? LOL at Miz checking out Beth! I don't blame him! Natalya & Beth as a team might rock. Meh, cool that Matt won, but the first to give Kozlov a loss? Sucks that you gave Cena the win, but very realistic. Vickie grabbed Edge's ball. EDGE Wins! and MVP putting on a great show is great. Great 1st ppv & Happy b-day

Royal Rumble was a great show Kev, keep it up. The opening match was decent, but it wasn't my favorite. I liked the finish, and I'm glad Punk picked up the title win. However, I couldn't see that match going for twenty minutes. Nothing much to say about the Diva's title match, but I'm just really happy Natalya won the title. I liked how the match was pretty much back and forth. Hmmm, the ECW title match was ok, but it could have been better. Kinda wished Kozlov won, but oh well. The next two title matches were decent, but nothing much to say. However, there is ALOT to say about the Royal Rumble match. First of all, I really liked the last ten superstars, but I could do without The Miz and Paul Burchill. But it was shocking when the Miz was number thirty. I liked Edge winning, but at the same time, I feel it was a waste. I don't know why, but you could have had someone else win it, like Jericho, Orton, or hell, even Swagger. But it's still cool that Edge won. However, I didn't like how you made MVP so big in the match. Anyways, it was a good show, and overall, I enjoyed reading it. Keep it up!

This was a terrific show, man. Everything from the nice graphics and detailed writing made this a real entertaining read. I would've like to have at least seen one title change, though. Matt Hardy's had the belt for way too long, IMO. I'm happy that Edge won the Royal Rumble match because there's so much that you could do with him at WM. Not only that, but a heel hasn't won the Royal Rumble in such a long time. Overall, good work. I apologize for not commenting so much.

This was a great show. It looks detailed and has a nice looking format to it. On to the show. Nice graphics, btw. Soo glad CM Punk won the match. I wanted him to win on RAW but, it ended in a DQ. Hopefully he wins at the Royal Rumble, (real life). That match was great. Two great talented wrestlers. Please reform Hart Foundation 2.0, nuff said. Haha, that sounded awesome. Hardy leg dropping Kozlov through a table. Finally he gets pinned. And a great way for him to get pinned by. For the Royal Rumble match, MVP better win. Worst match booking wise on the card. Bleh. But, I am glad Cena won though. he needs to drop the title to Orton or Jericho. Love how HBK walked away. Does this mean JBL vs. Shawn at WM 25???NOOO!!Man, I loved the tag team of Orton and Edge. Hardy winning is awesome. Soo glad you have Benjamin in the main event picture. I loved the ending. Like you siad in the description, a sequence to Austin and HBK WM 14. Noo. MVp had the match won. The Royal Rumble match looks hard to write. Miz last, lol. Edge winning is awesome. I wouldn't care if you had Orton, Jericho, Edge, or MVP win the match. The PPV was great. I enjoyed it and can't wait for the following RAW. Hopefully Orton gets the title back.

Nice graphics. Putting Punk on the title is good; hopefully the IC belt gets on at Wrestlemania in at least a somewhat important match. Nice "Wrestlemaniac" line there. I always like effort on Santino dialogue. ALthough the match (and ending) sounded awesome, I wasn't a fan at all of Hardy beating Kozlov. I felt like Kozlov's first loss could have been saved for Wrestlemania. Nice insults between MVP & HBK in the back. Nice Rated RKO reunion of sorts. Hardy winning was somewhat predictable, but obviously the right choice. I like how you put on Hardy/Benjamin as the last title match to look Benjamin important. I hope he ends up getting a main event push sometime after Wrestlemania. Hardy/Burke potentially at Wrestlemania would be fine with me if Burke wins. A little confused as to why JBL would want HBK to eliminate himself instead of winning the Rumble for JBL Inc. Edge winning was good, although I'm not sure who he'll face at Wrestlemania. Edge/Hardy has been done and really isn't Wrestlemania worthy. Very well done show overall, though.

Reading from the latest Royal Rumble show posted. Nice graphics. Loved Punk winning the IC title, although abit obvious. Hopefully he gets a nice title reign and like Posted above mentioned, defends it at Mania. Don't like the Diva's championship or division but putting it on Natalya is a good step in bringing in some cred. for the belt. Kozlov/Hardy sounded meh. Glad Kozlov didn't win but didn't like that Hardy beat him either. Edge winning the Rumble is cool and didn't see that coming. But I don't like Hardy/Edge if that is where you are going. A good show though dude

gotta say love the graphics Edge winning is good, as I dont really pay much attention to this one, I dont know what storylines ur doing. Yay for Cena Retaining, Hardy Retaining, and Matt retaining. Good you got the title off of McCool, natyla is a good choice. All CM Punk needs is the European title to be grand slam champ. But I dont see that coming back any time soon. GOod show again. GUess miz and morrsion couldnt really work together, 1 at 1 and other at 30. Well again sorry for not leaving u a reply, thats ur reply.

2009 Royal Rumble winner Edge is not waiting until this Friday's 3 Hour Smackdown! to announce which Title he is going for at WrestleMania! Edge has told wwe.com that he is going after Jeff Hardy's WWE Title. Edge stated, "I want back the Title that I was screwed out of. I owe Jeff Hardy. We have a lot of history together, and let WrestleMania be the final chapter of our story." Friday Night Smackdown! will be a 3 hour show, with all 3 brand invited, despite Edge's early announcement!
