Ok, I just watched GLOBAL iMPACT JAPAN courtesy of the $5.99 sale @ Best Buy. Angle beat Nagata but when did he drop the IWGP strap? and to whom? Thanks.

New Japan Pro Wrestling / Inoki Genome Federation (2007–2008)
On February 18, 2007, Angle made his debut in New Japan Pro Wrestling, teaming with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yuji Nagata to defeat fellow TNA wrestler Travis Tomko and fellow WWE alumnus Giant Bernard.[4]
Angle was booked to face Brock Lesnar in a champion versus champion match for the Inoki Genome Federation on June 29, 2007, defeating him by submission for the IWGP Third Belt Championship[20] and challenged him to an MMA fight.[107] On December 19, 2007, Angle defended the IWGP World Title successfully against Kendo Kashin.[108]
On January 4, 2008, Angle made his third successful IWGP Third Belt Championship defense when he defeated Yuji Nagata at the New Japan Pro Wrestling supershow Wrestle Kingdom II in Tokyo Dome by forcing Nagata to tap out to the ankle lock.[109] On February 17, 2008, Kurt lost the IWGP title to Shinsuke Nakamura in a unification match thus ending his year long run in Japan. Kurt Angle is not recognized as an IWGP Heavyweight Champion by New Japan.

If Global Impact is really $6, someone needs to buy it for me because I don't have a Best Buy near me.

If he won gold at the olympics, in wrestling, he can acknowledge that as world title/s. i'm quite sure it's one gold medal - which would equal 1 world title, plus his 3 wwf/e titles, 1 wcw, 1 wwe world and 2 tna world, which amounts to 8 reigns. i'm missing where titles number 9- 12 have appeared from, but then this is Kurt Angle we're talking about.

One Gold Medal IWGP title TNA World Title (2) WCW World Title World Title WWF/E Title (4, albeit not a WORLD title) That's 10.
So if he's legit, he might be counting the King of The Ring and the X Division title. OR the Tag title reigns with Chris Beniot & Sting. OR, he's just taking a shot at HHH.

While he was in college Angle also won a couple of amateur world championships (are held in years that there are no olympics) so that might be where the other 2 come from

He couldn't defend it because of Visa issues. He refused to hand in the belt. Then dropped it to Angle. While they both had the physical title, it wasn't recognized and Angle eventually gave the belt back to them. I think.

My thinking is that TNA & NJPW had an agreement to get the strap back so they should recognize it.

August 30th - September 9th 2007. Remember, Angle won 'em from Joe then Sting won a match (beating Styles, Cage, and Joe) to become Kurt's partner. They would then drop 'em to "Team Pacman" setting up Angle vs. Sting at BFG.
