I've stated before that I suspect certain members of the "IWC" love certain wrestlers just because they're following the herd, without ever really having anything to back it up. But I'm here now to ask for some evidence of these guys being great wrestlers. Because there must be at least someone out there that starts the "[wrestler name] is great!" bandwagon, and they must have seen something that made them think so.
Note: I do not want highlight montages, because those can be cut together to make even the most mediocre wrestler look good. I want to see actual matches that display the brilliance of this wrestler.
Youtube-type links are cool, or just list which match/matches show it.
So yeah, I'd like to see some matches that confirm the "in-ring greatness" of:
PAUL BURCHILL
PAUL LONDON
SANTINO MARELLA (despite most people acknowledging Santino's shortcomings and enjoying his brilliant personality, there are a small bunch of... People... Who are determined that he had great matches in OVW. To you people, now is your chance to tell us where these great matches in OVW were, and who they were against)
KATIE LEA
JILLIAN HALL
NATALYA NEIDHART
DH SMITH
SCOTTY GOLDMAN/COLT CABANA
BRIAN KENDRICK
FUNAKI

out of that list, i'd say Paul London's series of matches with Akio on Velocity were quite good, and colt cabana had some good matches in ROH.
but i do agree with you about the rest. granted, i want Burchill to succeed, mainly cos he's a local guy, but damn it the IWC can't say his indy stuff, which is mainly FWA by the way (at least acknowledge the company will people), can be labelled as really good, since when he was there he was just the Big Fish in a very small pond of talent so to speak.

There's a Funaki bandwagon?

The ones I dig: Kendrick, kicks and flicks, I like kicks and flicks, plus he has "it", match? 5 man at Unforgiven, many tag matches with London on Raw & SD, notably the series with Cade & Murdoch. Natalya is a HART, she doesn't have many memorable because she has not been booked to be in them, best match so far was against Michelle at GAB. Marella is hilarious, that is all. I'm waiting for DH to pop, I think he will do great in a tag team.
The others haven't shown much to me but it doesn't mean they are not talented.

This thread lacks some Val Venis. But we don't think he's awesome. We know he is awesome, that's why he isn't on that list.

out of that list, i'd say Paul London's series of matches with Akio on Velocity were quite good, and colt cabana had some good matches in ROH. I'll look for the London-Akio matches - I know Yang is very popular with the IWC as well, but I'm already a fan of his, he looks great even in his jobbing matches. Any specifics as far as Cabana goes? Seriously, they mean the FWA? I used to watch the FWA, and never saw a great Burchill match. He did some flashy, risky moves that looked good for a guy his size (in comparison to the midgets that made up most of the FWA roster, as you've mentioned) but I don't recall him ever showing any signs of brilliance. Essentially then, the Burchill love is based on him standing out against the FWA guys? That's nuts.

There's a Funaki bandwagon? If you look back at the threads from when he first became Kung Fu Naki, there were people saying things like "Sho Funaki is awesome, WWE held him down!" and so on.

CM Punk belongs on that list. He has never done anything to impress me in the least.

i assumed that's what the IWC means with Burchill. i may and probably am wrong, but i would think referring to indy matches would not mean his OVW stuff, that's 'development', and i can only think FWA is what else he is known for

CM Punk belongs on that list. He has never done anything to impress me in the least. I was 50/50 on including Punk. At this point, I think he's done pretty well for himself. But yeah, actually, if people have some links to matches that were the cause of the IWC in 2006 getting sick all over themselves in anger because he was one of Cena's mobsters at WrestleMania... Feel free.

They had a series with Cade & Murdoch..? So basically people haven't even seen her wrestle a good match, but just assume she's great because her daddy was the Anvil? I love him, he cracks me up and I'm thankful for his skills... but some people talk like he was the second coming of Bret Hart in OVW. And that doesn't fit with the Santino who has been sucking in the ring since his debut against Umaga (several months before he became a comedy character).

Since I'm a "smark" because I like good wrestlers that happened to come from the indy scene I will give you some matches.
Paul London
AJ Styles vs Paul London at ROH Night Of The Grudges. This was an excellent wrestling match. Now I'm sure you're thinking it's a high flying spot fest but you are completely wrong. The Psychology in this match was phenomenal. If anyone doesn't like this match I'd be pretty surprised and simply ask do you really like wrestling or what?
Paul London vs Michael Shane Fight Without Honor from ROH
I forget what show this was on but it was another great match and probably the best Michael Shane match you will ever find.
Paul London vs AJ Styles vs Low Ki from ROH
Just three great wrestlers tearing up the place.
Paul London vs Akio series of matches on Velocity.
Colt Cabana
His feud with Homicide from ROH. While I didn't like the end of it with them becoming buddies they put on great matches together. Also Punk & Cabana vs the Briscoes, Punk vs Cabana one on one. Cabana vs Nigel, Cabana vs Dragon, Cabana vs Aries cage match and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
DH Smith
DH Smith vs Kevin Steen from JAPW's 8th Anniversary Show. Any DH Smith & TJ Wilson tag matches you can find. DH Smith vs TJ Wilson. DH Smith stuff from Japan.
Brain Kendrick
Kendrick has had plenty of great matches in ROH as Spanky. Pretty much anything you can find of him from ROH has been good. His tags with London when given the time to shine have been good. His matches with Jeff Hardy on TV recently have been very good TV matches. He's got charisma, he can sell very well and overall he's a really good wrestler. Again I don't know why anyone could not like him.

Since I'm a "smark" because I like good wrestlers that happened to come from the indy scene I will give you some matches. Cheers, sir. I've seen the Hardy-Kendrick matches on TV, and most of the Kendrick-London tag matches, and whilst they're fine, I haven't seen anything in them that matches up to the "ZOMG SHOULD BE WORLD CHAMP!" sort of overhype that Kendrick's supporters are prone to. As to the other matches you've listed - thank you. I'll start seeking them out.

Yea, majority of Kendrick & London matches on Raw revolved around Cade and Murdoch and they had a couple of great tag matches in there from memory, also with Haas & Benjamin. Natalya, put it like this, she looks alot more comfortable than all bar maybe one or two Divas in the ring. Santino is comedy, I don't see anything else there.
