Kofi. I know the usual thing on WF is to hate the faces and love the heels, but Kofi Kingston is one of my favorites on the WWE roster. His character is stale. There's one. Kofi is a natural face. He really knows how to work the crowd and I think turning him heel anytime soon would be a mistake. And like I said before in another thread......cant be too stale, when he is the 3rd all time seller in merchandise. This is kinda what I'm trying to figure out in the thread. It seems like a lot of folks just like heels so can't/won't like babyfaces and thus decide that all the babyfaces are stale and need heel turns to be watchable.

I'm not one of the people who just like heels and hates faces. My opinion varies depending who it is. It just gets kind of repetitive when Cena is always made out to be unbeatable. His whole deal is the same thing in each feud he is in; same thing, different feud. If they could find another way to tweak his character while keeping him face that would make him more interesting then I'd be all for it, but it seems like he needs a drastic change, which at this point would be turning him heel.

I neither agree nor disagree. I am just telling you why the E wont do it. Evidently, the kids under 12 are buying more merchandise than adults. Fact is if someone like Edge or Jericho was selling better than Cena, you could see a turn. Or if Cena plummetted, you could see a turn. Right now, financially.....it makes no sense.

Yeah I agree with it financially, but the way I see it, Cena sells a ton of merchandise because he is being pushed as the top babyface in the WWE. If he turned heel, they could put that on someone like Jeff Hardy. If the kids stop buying Cena merch if he turned heel, they would focus on the new top babyface, making his merchandise sales go up. Plus, Stone Cold was a huge draw, sold a huge amount of merch like Cena does, but they still turned him heel.

Yeah, but you forget that this isnt just someone selling a ton of merchandise.....he is 3rd in all time sales. And he has been consistant. Cena has been the #1 merchandise seller for 4 years straight now. He has lasting power and Vince gets behind that. Pushing someone else is all well and good. And we do see that from time to time......but until someone comes along and dethrones Cena.....Vince aint changing that position. Well, not unless he feels like he could make more money in doing so, which he clearly does not believe right now.

Plus, Stone Cold was a huge draw, sold a huge amount of merch like Cena does, but they still turned him heel. Austin himself has said (in his book, for one) that his heel turn was a mistake. His fans didn't care for it, it didn't create any fresh top-line matches If John Cena's a heel, who is the top babyface that beats him? Triple H? Michaels? Seen it all before. Batista? The people who hate Cena usually hate Batista as well. Which leaves Undertaker and Jeff Hardy. Both of which are strong matches, but neither of which are dependent on Cena turning heel and losing all his babyface revenue. Cena is the main guy for kids, and that's who WWE are trying to hook in at the moment. There's nobody else on the roster that can take his place as the relatable, friendly, regular guy hero for them to look up to. Hardy's too weird, Mysterio wears a mask and doesn't talk much, and the others are too old. Also, Stone Cold didn't turn heel so that more people will like him. That's what a lot of people here don't seem to understand - a heel turn to increase someone's popularity is insane. "If he was a heel he would do more things that I like" doesn't make sense. You're not meant to like the things heels do. It's a case of, as an audience, not being receptive to what the genre is doing. Perhaps that means that the viewer is evolving past the genre, or vice versa.

I don't think Kofi would be good as a heel. Part of his charm is his carefree attidtude. Without that I don't thinkhe'd get over well at all.

I think it is not who shouldn't turn heel, but who needs to turn face. I think it is deluted with heels. What they need is a face stable and solid heel stable like they did in the late 90s, but with fresher ideas. It is not the characters that get stale, it is the repeat of 80s-90s storylines that are stale.

The most unexpected are the best to turn heel.

Bourne Kofi and Rey need to stay face.
So does Dreamer and Jeff Hardy.
Never really seen any of those play the heel, and I think it'd get crapped on even more than Jeff's attempted heel turn in 03.

Rey would never work as a heel. The second he got on the mic trying to be badass people would start laughing.

Now for someone who isn't a complete high flyer and should stay face I'd got with Cena and Undertaker, until they turn both Jericho and Big Show or Kane face then I'd like a Taker heel turn.
